I like the WE1010 more, been using Weller ever since the 1970's and will stick to them. The only thing I didn't like in the Weller was that it has no visual indication that the power is on, the LCD has no backlight nd there is no LED indication. This I solved through my own fix. You can see how I did it in this short video I made about the modification: th-cam.com/video/vsnpXHTc3M8/w-d-xo.html

I just got this exact station but my question is have you expected any problems with the temperature, because I heard that the temperature is well off from what it says on the screen

@@infected7258 Why would you expect any heating problems...? I mean, Weller is a good brand, I had one for 40 years and gave it away when I bought this one. I bought it used, and gave away still working.

Since you didn’t answer which is best, I’ve tried both and Hakko turns out to be better. When soldering, Hakko keeps the temperature at say 300C with no problem, while Weller falls down to 290C and then it starts heating up to 300C again in the middle of soldering, so you can imagine the frustration of waiting for the iron to heat back up. I would definitely recommend Hakko. Weller just isn’t what it used to be anymore.

thanks for that extra comment - that is what i was looking for. I got the weller but will likely send it back and get the hakko. temp stability seems to be an issue for the weller.

LOL, the WE1010 doesn't have internal fuse only for the primary side, I still don't understand how they are able to get a UL, CE certification. I don't know about this particular model of Hakko.

I'm a fanatic for Japanese engineering, I work with Japanese people everyday, I drive Toyota...
But I accidentally bought Weller, I was unaware of Hakko.
That being said, I am glad I'm not messing with presets.
I do like the more professional look too.

:| Sounds like your base unit has failed outside of warranty and you are seeking replacement parts inside.
All of the ‘normal’ consumables are replaceable. Irons, tips etc. though it’s normal for commodity gear (base models, low cost) to call it a day on the unit itself. With that said, Weller have excellent service for in-warranty hardware, in the unlikely event something goes wrong.

So basicly, I would reccomend you to go for the Hakko, It may not be the best in a professonial setup but it is really good in its 'performace?' so yea go for weller for professonial looks, go for hakko for its performance and everything else.
