Good on you Gareth ,inspiring stuff mate.
One of my sons is partially blind and was told by some idiot teacher he would never amount to much ,he had an OP score of 19 [ this is for university placement 1 being the highest 24 being the lowest here in Queensland ].
At age 21 he had his Bachelors by the time he was 24 he had his Masters and was asked to take up his doctorate thesis ,he was on the deans list twice .This turnaround was because his family backed him and went into bat for him time and again as did a couple of the better teachers he had plus he was detetmined to show his worth.
Never listen to those who want to keep you down ,tell them to get stuffed and prove them wrong whether their intentions are for good or ill.

Great story Gareth. I remember when I played a rugby match against the McAllen Knights and their scrumhalf was a little person. He was the most commited player in the whole game, up to this day I remember him. Keep up the stories and the great vids coming :D.

Brilliant Gareth......desire wins over ability every time. You can always learn the ability but the desire is always harder to 'learn'.....you got it! Well done and thanks for your 6 Nations Rugby Analysis......A Scotland fan still buzzing after Saturday at Murrayfield. My first ever Rugby game as a supporter was at Kings Park (Natal v N Transvaal). I lived in PmBurg at the time, since that day over 30 years ago I have loved the sport. Now back in the UK, but always grateful to RSA for introducing me to the glorious game! Lets crash through the 3k subscriber mark!

Incredible story gareth, I'm one of the new guys and one thing that strikes me already is your speaking ability. Seriously, your communication is impeccable. Your intonation, lack of filler words and passion make you very captivating. You should consider doing some public talks or something! Other than that, congratulations on having such a dogged resilience in overcoming your obstacle towards not only making the team, but becoming captain! Keep it up.

Great insight into your character, Gareth. I find it amazing when people have passions that motivate them to that level. I don't think, personally, I have found any one thing that I am that passionate about. For a lot of people, myself included, it is less about attaining one's dreams and more about trying to understand what one's dreams are. I'm happy that for you, you knew and achieved. That's pretty awesome! Thanks for sharing such a personal story.

Been watching your six nations vids and loving them. Your story is amazing to have never given up through all that time...big credit. I’ve always said sports is made of opinions and I’m glad you got the opportunity to prove yourself through another coach’s opinion that yes you were indeed good enough, not only to play but also captain a side👍 Just wanted to share a quick story with you about me and my twin brother. We’re hugely into sports and had a difficulty at times ie I was making teams scoring goals but my bro was a defender and a lot of managers didn’t pick him from time to time this was difficult, but in the end he captained our local soccer team to an unprecedented treble...I was never as happy in sport and I can tell you it felt very justified and vindicated that he achieved this as I felt I was never the better twin as people used to say, I was just the forward who scored 😉

This is a fantastic story! Think it says a lot about the character of the individual to carry on the want to play sports that bad! Huge respect! No wonder you’re a captain, I would have listened with the utmost respect.

They say bro, if you wear an ABs jersey you grow 6 feet 😉. On a serious note, Plenty of upsides to being short bro. Arivinda De Silva was 5'2"(?) and a short of a length ball went over midwicket for 6. You can buy kids/youth size cricket bats which are cheaper. I've seen small blokes get in with kids priced entrance fees. Work with what you've got!

i honestly don't see any reason for a little person not to play sports. You can move, run, tackle etc... You could even play rugby, at scrum-half for sure.
