    When raining hows the signal?

      Just light to normal rain it’s fine. It’s when there’s heavy rain that it becomes a little spotty and laggy.

    Thank you for the info on starling. We are planning to get it on our property which is very remote and no fiber available.

      Glad to hear that! Definitely an internet option for your situation. It's not perfect, especially when there's a storm or heavy rain, but it's definitely better than having no high speed internet. Think about during power outages like we had here in Iloilo, because we have solar at home for power (or a generator) we had no issues going online.

      Texas Filipino brought his from the states too. Glad we have it here in the Philippines, it will be a good alternative for those who lives in the provinces plus great for disaster areas where communication is key.

    Thanks for sharing! Not sure about the "less speed is actually pretty decent here in the Philippines". Here in Manila, our average is 200 mbps.

      totally agree! Iloilo is lucky to have Guimaras and Antique to take most of the hit.

    Thanks for the video.. I am a kano from Oregon, living here about 10 years. We have land here to the north of us (have not built yet) and will have to use Starlink. I was also worried about the storms as we get some very violent thunder and lightning here, sometimes. Our daughter works at home for a call center and we need the best reliability we can get. Wish le lived closer... would love to have a good friend the speaks good English!

    I will be setting up my starlink next week in mountain area. Plus I build diy tower using poles that I bought in Junkshop. Gonna setup my own network firewall to improve network speed. I will give you an update on my setup so you will also have an idea how to improve yours.

    Did you buy your starlink in the p.i. or had it shipped to you from the US. Also btw so happy to see you back at the videos again. You and your family are very inspirational. One more thing are you guys generating income out there? Like are you or your wife working? Or just retirement money... just wondering because I'll be making the big move in August and am nervous.

    • @famfromthebay
      @famfromthebay  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bought it from the Philippines and it did come from the US. it got delivered via DHL but took a while. When we moved, we planned for 2 years no income while we build our house and put together a business out here and investments. Unfortunately, we are too young to be receiving retirement. It's always nerve racking when you're doing a leap of faith, but just trust your preparation and plans and everything will pan out. Just remember live like the locals here.

    Do you use starlink for your cellphone??? Thanks

    • @famfromthebay
      @famfromthebay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wifi for cellphone. cellphone have to go thru cell providers unless you have a sat phone that goes directly off satellites which is really expensive.

    • @famfromthebay
      @famfromthebay  ปีที่แล้ว

      its actually pretty good. It actually averages between 50-100Mbps on a clear day lower when its raining.
