      So true. Also minimalism and simple living are getting more popular these days. In the same way you can have more fun on smaller bikes like the CT. Look at how popular the smaller naked bikes and retro bikes are now. The thought of owning a Superbike leaves me cold now.

      Probably should have said "true adventure bike" in the title.. this moped like bike does barely cut it for adventure purposes but the point of the video is that there are way better options out there like the wr250r. And in Australia there is barely a difference in price between the two. The Honda is over priced massively here. Thanks for watching.

      @@Wanderer1 The price is indeed ridiculous, just like the monkey 125. This really limits the sales-succes. But to be fair, anyone that wants this thing to be a true adventure bike in the traditional sense of the term, must be dillusional.
      Even the RE Himalayan falls flat on its face as an adventure machine when compared to a wr250r. But it’s still less expensive than this funny little thing. Honda quality costs an arm and a leg these days...

      @@belgianbushrc7934 The way the words: " adventure bike" is usually meant i don´t agree on what you say about the Himalayan. The Himalayan is not a toy to play around in the dirt with as many people think it is. It is a vehicle that is capable of transporting its driver where ever the driver needs to go (within reason) and it does it slow, safe and steady without much fuss. Is it a play toy? No! The only reason this fails is because of the price - just a few dollars short of $7700 on the road here in Australia!!!!!
    Outrageous!
    Honda has really misjudged us on this one- they must think we are all stupid and rich, especially in these hard times.
    Pushing the nostalgia angle here with the “ great Aussie postie bike” so they can triple the price here compared to Asia and nearly double that of the U.S.

    this is the difference between a toy and a tool. you don't rip around and hit jumps for fun on the cub, you use it to get around in the cheapest most reliable way possible and carry a good lot of shit with you on the way. you probably won't be carrying a surfboard on pedestrian paths with your WR250, or strapping a 400lb deer carcass to the back and riding back to your truck through dense forest.

    • @Wanderer1
      @Wanderer1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      funny you should say that as I did exactly that with my old Trail 90 - tied off the rack of a dressed out buck to the cargo rack and dragged it out of several miles of forest service road and trails that were inaccessible to 4x4s or quads due to the narrow trail width. the Trail does it just fine. no fussing with a clutch and you can even get off and walk beside it with your hand on the throttle. I just wish the 125 had the low gear selector that comes in very useful on the older models.

This bike is less complicated than a GROM, but more so than the K-Pipe so the price should be between the two ideally. 1) Top Speed - 60 mph (100 kms) is well adequate for what it is.
    2) Suspension is well adequate for someone that weights 200 lbs ( 108 Kgs ). Anyone above that weight is generally overweight.
    The motorbike will probably outlast anything else one has ever owned or will own.
    In Thailand it is 84,000 baht => US$2,545 => £1,866 on the road.
    It is affordable for a lot more people.

    I would agree with your kind of missing the point you don’t buy one of these to fully loaded down and go across the Sahara desert. There are a plethora of other motorcycles that would do that much better and you might survive LOL however for a $4000 very economic to maintain and ride it’s a perfect little do just enough to keep the smile cramps maintained. I’ve ridden motorcycles all over the world and some of the most fun I’ve had I’ve been a little scooters and 125 motorcycles. They are lightweight super easy on gas. You buy one of these for the fun factor and the smile factor the fact that they have the Honda reliability means you’ll spend more time with the fun factor then wishing that your bike was out of the shop.

    In terms of price, it is the Australian Government and Australian Businessmen that make the Honda CT127 so expensive. At $3,500 on the road in Thailand it is affordable to buy and cheap to run. A versatile little work horse. A utility vehicle more suited to bad roads than a standard Honda Cub. It is designed for smaller Asian riders, male and female, where the extra height is not appreciated by short legged riders. My complaint is that it lacks the modern CVT transmission, and dual wheel combined brake operated by the left hand with ABS on the front wheel that our Honda scooters have.The left hand should operate the rear brake only.
    The seat cannot be adjusted for taller riders and the cheap sponge padded seat lacks memory foam so a sore butt is almost guaranteed. I fail to see the advantage of the high exhaust as I’ve never had a problem with the standard height Honda Cub or Honda Wave exhausts. It is just styling, not improved function. A fuel tank 2 or 3 times larger would greatly improve touring range. Small petrol tanks cause many riders to run out of fuel. Side saddle bags rather then the top box would keep the luggage down low for better balance.
    Car companies have persuaded politicians that motorcycles are bad and motorcyclists are undesirable. I believe the high prices are to make people drive cars, which benefits the automobile industry.

    The observations made here are indisputable. US highway travel on this Cub is prohibited on freeways with minimum speed / cc capacity regulations. Not only an 'annoyance' but illegal. But clearly, for a lot of enthusiasts the disadvantages shrink away and people open their wallet with their hearts and not their heads.

  • @daveplem

    I’m out too, and for you whimpering fanboys, no I have not tried one. If it can’t reliably do 55 MPH uphill (it definitely cannot) it’s not able to be taken even on two-lane backwater highways. It’s an in-town grocery getter that can ford a shallow creek. But it’s not an adventure motorcycle. Call it what you like: mini-moto, scooter, etc., but don’t call it a motorcycle unless you can take it on a highway.
    I’m holding out hope the rumors of a CT150 in 2022 are true. That will be a complete game changer. Until then, count me out.

    The problem I have with the Hunter Cub is that it was promoted as a new generation Trail 90. Most of the features that made the trail 90 special are missing from the Hunter Cub. These include the dual range transmission, the sideways folding handlebars, the external gas storage, and passenger pegs. I can only wish that Honda had included these features in a fuel injected, electronic ignition, disc braked 125. That would have been an adventure bike.

  • @SirNarax
    @SirNarax ปีที่แล้ว

    It isn't designed to be a an adventure bike in the sense that you are describing it as. You are not supposed to be ripping it off at maximum speeds nor are you supposed to be flying off rocks. It is a 'Trail' bike. It is a small bike with all the advantages a small bike provides as well as being designed more durable for riding on gravel or dirt paths. Saying this bike is a failure because it can't fly around off road is like saying a little 50cc scooter is a failure because a super bike is faster on the road. Just because two vehicles can go on the same surface doesn't mean they are directly comparable.

    I live in Japan and the Hunter Cub is 440,000 yen plus all the other fees, dealer addons, and premium demand pricing of $500-$1000 making it close to a $6000 bike on the road. In the other corner, is the Honda Cross Cub 110 which is $1000 cheaper in the beginning, and much less additional fees. About $4000 in the driveway The question becomes, when you can afford anything, price no object, do you want the extra $1000+++ to go camping, or adventuring or blow that money. 1-HP, disc brakes, ABS, are they worth the extra $$$? The cross Cub, I think is going to be discontinued in the the near future, because they are so closely matched. Good video. Japan doesn't have "American Freeways", if it did I'd get a Super Tenere XT1200.

    The CT125 has two niches, IMO: urban-assault runabout with cool Ruckus minimalist styling and less farkles than the Cub 125; and gravel/dirt road explorer if you live out in the 'burbs near trails or can strap it to the back of a car or RV. Now, I've done quite long rides on a PGO 125cc scooter out into the country from the center of a fairly large city...and based on the CT125's specs, it could more than handle it. But that means ages of traveling on surface roads to escape urban sprawl out into the country.
    As for the price: well, that`s the nature of the game. Us First Worlders are going to pay high so they can sell low in the rest of the world that is Honda`s small-bike bread and butter market. You`re paying for heritage, nostalgia, and the Honda dealership/supply network.

    As of today, 30 August 2021, I know of no Honda Dealership that has one of these bikes in stock. I've spoken to 5 different Honda Dealerships and all told me the same thing: All CT-125's have been sold out for months and no more are expected in until 2022. They even have "Waiting Lists" for when these new bikes come in. It is getting difficult to buy anything new. This past Summer I have attempted to Buy a new Honda CT-125 and a Bad Boy Zero-Turn Mower, and both had no models in stock, and the mowers were waiting on chips.
