You two are some of my favorite people. I'm making painfully slow process getting HF on air but its great to have this replay with your help. Im trying to inspire a young fella in cane country VK land to join me for ft8.
I still need to get my Kenwood cabled up and the Antenna up. 73

Interesting show. I got into FT8 about 2 months ago. I enjoy it. Allows me to make DX contacts I otherwise couldn’t do. Still do SSB and a little CW. I downloaded a time sync app but couldn’t get Windows to allow it to run the time. I looked up some help files. No luck. I resync time on Windows and it looks the same as WSJT-x

today I tried out split mode. When I call cq and somebody answers the software produces a rr73 right after the other persons report. Before it often skipped the 73 line and dropped down to cq again. Thanks for your videos!

This video was very helpful. I’m a Tech and have not tried FT8 on my radio yet. I’m going to try this on 10m until I get my general. 73’s from KI5PRK

Re TX1, some stations, particularly DX stations won't answer a TX1 call, they want TX2 only to keep the qso as short as possible. They normally state this on their qrz page, or you get the hang of it when they don't come back to you (repeatedly).
Also if you use TX2 as your first transmission to a station, if they have "CQ: First" set you can sometimes get their WSJT-X to respond to you when they might not normally select you.
Odd Even here in the UK and Eu is a pointing East/pointing West thing, as you say, particulalry on 6m.
Finally, if you have CQ only ticked, you could be missing out on DX stations that appear and have a pile up as they don't often need to call CQ, they are busy working those who keep transmitting TX2...

    Hi Hayden,
Just getting around to watching the video and you double clicked on TX1 to disable that transmission. If you answer a CQ, your grid square is not sent. What if the other operator is looking for grid squares. You now make him search for yours. I would leave TX1 enabled at all times. Stay safe. 73 WJ3U

@@stephenabbott904 Ah that happens when you have "Enable AP" turned on under the "Decode" menu. They indicate the message components of a decode. More info is available here - wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx-doc/wsjtx-main-2.6.1.html#_ap_decoding
