I always felt that House firing Chase was done for good reasons. I believed House did it knowing Chase would grow, become better from the experience and ultimately become a better doctor. Given that Chase still called back regarding the pet scan, in later seasons rejoined the team , stayed on good terms with House after being fired, was down with all of the crazy antics, and ultimately took over from House after he left the Hospital shows just how much Chase was down with House. Foreman is House light...but Chase has got the best of House.
Everyone's assuming the cast changes over the years were driven by character or story - they weren't. They were in response to audience responses. They modified and pushed people out, brought them back in to give audiences the characters they seemed to like the most. Also to accommodate certain actors' career choices (like Olivia Wilde). The rest is just rationalization.
Yes that's true, but they made it work and most importantly make sense (Well we could argue that anything that doesn't make sense makes sense in House because House is House). I admit I thought I would stop watching the show after the original team left, but i stuck around and I'm glad I did. Overall the show was always good and ended nicely. I only wish Cuddy's departure made more sense because I'm sure if they could have had her in the final episode House would have hallucinated her instead of Cameron and she would have been seen at the funeral or at least shown her reaction to his "death". That was the only moment that made me look on the internet to understand the why it happened like that.
Of all the characters on the show at this point, Chase was the most like House. Chase was House’s yes man and always agreed with what House has to propose. Chase was always loyal to House unlike Foreman and Cameron would always be the ones to be defiant to what House says, so it makes sense for them to leave by resigning. Chase would never resign, so he had to be fired. Even then to support my argument, Chase stayed on House’s team the longest from three years before the series started and up until the final season.
The best part is that Chase at that moment had the most excuse for being distracted and *still* can notice it. That’s why he became better than the rest - the ability to continue functioning across personal upheavals. I mean although he had times when he was less than 100% earlier in his career when under pressure (like when his father died), he got better at mastering his emotional responses and became a better diagnostician as a result.
The point with the umbrella says it all. Inside he’s confused wondering why explaining his dismissal but still seen something on the scan!! Something so rare deserves to fly
Edit: quote verbatim Chase got fired because he was already ahead of Foreman and Cameron: watch the episode and look closely - Chase was taking leadership and making better plays at the case. House was literally and figuratively taking a back seat. Might sound cruel but House was letting the patient train Foreman and Cameron. Back to leadership he cues by his dialogue "I still have two people working under me got to get one to do my job for me" Chase was already a leader so he letting him go and due to the circumstances. Notice how Chase despite being fired provided the scan results to House without any hassle. It's a nod to show how Chase is more competent than Cameron and Foreman. Cuddy and Wilson are of traditional mindset, rewaed excellence with more work. House is of the-weak-link-gets-extra-training-and-beatings mindset; from his military stepfather. However, House rewards excellence by giving them less work or dismissing. He slacks in the hospital because he is that good. Also they insert the comedy of:how many doctors does it take to change a light bulb (scan result) to further reinforce the themes of apprenticeship vs adeptness.
Hosue fired Chase because he knew there wasnt more he could do for him. He knew he was good enough to make his own decisions, like a mama bird throwing a baby bird out of the nest.
Jesus Christ, what did Chase do, send an email blast to the whole hospital? Forward his FML post to Cuddy and Wilson? I'm surprised Evil Nurse Brenda didn't storm in. "You fired Dr. Pritty Hairz? WTF is wrong with you, Gimpy?"
cameron and foreman foud out from chase himself, cuddy found out because chase had to tell her since she the hospital chief administrator so she has to know, the only real mystery is how Wilson found out i don't really see any reason for Chase to tell Wilson, maybe Cuddy told wilson before storming House's office
Both foreman and Cameron quit on the same episode but then later in season 4 chase returned as a part of the surgical team and Cameron as the head of OR
As far as I remember, there's a thing about House's not liking change. I think Wilson points out that he still has the same guitar that he's always had, which would be why the end of the clip zooms in on that. If this memory is correct then Chase gets sacked in part because the official explanation does kind of make sense, but mostly it's about House's "I'll show you" reaction to Wilson's point. Alternatively, House knows Wilson is right and knows he's right (with the official explanation) and does it because sacking Chase is better for House and for Chase. This sounds less in character. Of course, I may have confused episodes. Wilson definitely comments on House and change in one episode though.
In the end Chase takes over House's dept. Which means Chase had learnt everything House could teach him. Well that's one way of looking at it, really it's the script writers getting things ready for the next season where new characters are introduced and the show gets a fresh make over. With House anything can happen! Lol
Cant we all just agree that he fired Chase and foreman and Cameron quitting because the show runners wanted/needed to have a fresh start to bring new life into the show? It failed of course, but that is the real reason.
It did work. The fourth season is solid. Only then came the inevitable decline. The cases and the "drama" became more and more extreme, because the writers struggled to come up with something new, interesting and still organic. But that's natural. I think this decision yielded an extra year to the show, and it was a good year. The writers were thriving in the new setup. First making it a survivor game to the applicants. Then introducing the new main characters, and sometimes bringing back the old ones for certain plot lines.
Its easy. House just fired him to see how is he gonna react about it. Basically he was playing with him, because he knew that he will come back. Chase is a good doctor, but he doesn't want to go somewhere else.

Poor house... all he wanted was to know what was on the P.E.T. Scan

I swear Cuddy and Wilson are acting so much like Parents in this scene.
5:18 😀😀😂😂😂
I told you to show Foreman you had a heart. How does that translate into you being a bastard? 😂😂
6:04?
So, that's a no..
This is where it started going downhill for me. Messing with the cast for no reason. Lame and turned me right off.
I wouldn’t have had anyone back if they made Cowboys and Aliens.
Chase really has become his favorite and it's always the reason I enjoy rewatching these clips... (we love you channel owner person dude!)
The way Cuddy goes
You two, out
Badass
I would actually like to see a montage style spin off series that shows s how working with House has made them as doctors in some later escapade.
Fun part about a bad memory is that I forgot what I was watching and got surprised when he fired chase.
And u should be happy if u have shitty memory , dafuq?
Every episode of house was,
House will diagnose the patient and the team will diagnose him
“I told you to show Foreman that you have a heart, how does that translate you into a bastard?” THAT LINE GOT ME OFF 😂
it got you off? Who the hell needed to know that?
@@Hellwyck lmao
@@Hellwyck The dude might not be from the U.S. Expressions vary in meaning from country to country.
That's my favourite. I couldn't stop laughing
6:04 I enjoy this scene a lot.
0:17 Probably one of the best lines and best scenes in the entire show.
"Did you give my phone number to an angry Cuban?"
Chase: "It's an infection."
House: "It's not an infection you idiot, also, you're fired."
[45 minutes later]
House: "Woops, it was an infection."
Now he leaves to start his new life as a fireman on Chicago Fire
"She's got a hot spot" ...how often do u suppose doctors miss stuff because there are too busy worrying about their own probs.
@@nurainiarsad7395 I agree. He did shine. And of course he was the only one to ever punch House.
The petscan scene was one of my favorite bits in the entire series
6:00 When Mom and Dad confront you on the same issue playing Good and Bad.
It's alright, the Prodigal Son will return
After he fires chase it's like he was waiting for him to call a bluff just based on that concerned look
Probably House knows that people that work with him for to long get a stigma that keeps them from working anywhere, Chase was near that limit.
Forman Is of course better than camraon
Camron:iM iN tHe RoOm

Everyone: "Why fire chase?"
house: PET SCAN >:(
Chase did a batman when he was talking to Cameron and Forman😂
Esteban was very well intentioned and well-mannered... but with all his asking, I can see why House was extra annoyed about him.
The point with the umbrella says it all. Inside he’s confused wondering why explaining his dismissal but still seen something on the scan!! Something so rare deserves to fly
Chase has always been the second best character to me. Wilson comin in with a very close 3rd spot
Hall pass for the murder?
@@heidikickhouse- the murder of the dictator? That was like one of the absolute best episodes lol
Edit: quote verbatim
Chase got fired because he was already ahead of Foreman and Cameron: watch the episode and look closely - Chase was taking leadership and making better plays at the case. House was literally and figuratively taking a back seat.
Might sound cruel but House was letting the patient train Foreman and Cameron.
Back to leadership he cues by his dialogue "I still have two people working under me got to get one to do my job for me"
Chase was already a leader so he letting him go and due to the circumstances.
4:52 I'm Batman
I read that title and instantly clicked thinking about 4:59.
Hosue fired Chase because he knew there wasnt more he could do for him. He knew he was good enough to make his own decisions, like a mama bird throwing a baby bird out of the nest.
House fired Chase because House is the second biggest spoiled brat in television history.
I just wanna say, this channel uploading House clips to this day, you are doing the "insert preferred deity's" work my friend.
4:56 Chase just pulled a Batman on Cameron.
That was cool
@@majinnemesis Well, I can follow the chain, but...that _fast?_
So why did House fire Chase? And what happened later to both Foreman and Chase?
Both foreman and Cameron quit on the same episode but then later in season 4 chase returned as a part of the surgical team and Cameron as the head of OR
And as why house fired chase.... Well I can't say there is a definite answer for that
I'm not sure but I think it's because house realised every reason chase said foreman was leaving for were actually chases reasons for wanting to go
As far as I remember, there's a thing about House's not liking change.
Lol
5:25 when the siblings wanna know first.
i like that quick camera pan to her lol great
House: “What’s on the PETSCAN?”
Everyone else: “You fired Chase?!”
House: “I should have asked for the PETSCAN first before firing the eye candy.”

"I don't suppose you know what's on my patient's PET scan?...

😂😂😂
Love how House's singing just peters out when he turns around to see the hostile audience.
I think House fired Chase to spite Wilson for saying he is not used to change, which is also the reason House gave when firing Chase
0:22 I'm getting The Office vibe
We want a Chase MD
That punch zoom on Cameron is so out of place for how the show is usually shot lmao. Feels like an office bit.
man that PET scan bit is so good 😂
Cant we all just agree that he fired Chase and foreman and Cameron quitting because the show runners wanted/needed to have a fresh start to bring new life into the show? It failed of course, but that is the real reason.
It did work. The fourth season is solid. Only then came the inevitable decline. The cases and the "drama" became more and more extreme, because the writers struggled to come up with something new, interesting and still organic. But that's natural. I think this decision yielded an extra year to the show, and it was a good year. The writers were thriving in the new setup. First making it a survivor game to the applicants. Then introducing the new main characters, and sometimes bringing back the old ones for certain plot lines.
6:25 when you want Mom and dad to leave you alone.
That PET scan scene was one of my favorites out of the entire series
Its easy. House just fired him to see how is he gonna react about it.
Basically he was playing with him, because he knew that he will come back.
Chase is a good doctor, but he doesn't want to go somewhere else.
4:58 love this scene
Love how everyone teamed up to jump House
