In my 55 years I saw many "Profesional American Football Leagues" in europe.that implodes after 5 years I ll be not surprised when the EFL does the same
Well, to be fair, so far there only have been two European football leagues that would qualify as "professional" - the WLAF/NFLE and the FLE. But these were all poor efforts that originated in the 80s and 90s. Today, football is far more popular in Europe, sports teams and leagues are managed and marketed much more professionally, and digital media make it much easier to promote and access a sports league. So I think the ELF has a chance to succeed, but it's gonna be tough, as the recent problems show.
As a French fan , I cannot overstate how great it is to finally support a French team and to see it reach the semifinals in only it's second year of existence. The play quality has grown tremendously in the off-season and I'm so hopeful for the next. I'm also hopeful Parisians and french people will get accustomed to the team and that attendance will grow fast. These guys are hard working individuals and deserve our support. I believe the Musketeers owners had the right approach, to get very close to the established teams playing in the french championship and develop partnerships. So you dont alienate the existing local footbal teams and build partnerships. Regarding the league growth, your points are solid, especially the strengthening of the current teams and no expansion. Another argument is that there is a clear unbalance between the western and eastern teams in terms of numbers. I know the fan base is wider in Germany/Austria and Eastearn Europe. But there should be only one team per country until the expansion is deemed healthy. Having several teams in the same country is spreading the fan base thin. That's why the Paris musketeers should stay the only French team for the foreseeable future, in order to let the fan base grow healthy. I don't want the ELF to replicate the NFL Europe, AFL and AFL2 mistakes by expanding too fast and then crumbling in spectacular fashion. Fix your income stream, make great TV deals, make the teams pay their rents and players on time, help them make a profit and THEN, expand.
As a German, I am also happy to see the Paris team doing so well. It's the first team in the league that has the potential to survive and constantly draw decent crowds that's not from Germany or Austria. Wish you good luck for the future.
Great Video!!! You've got some skills. I can't wait to see an update for the new season. PLEASE join us in viewing the ELF Live series when it comes back next year!!!
If you want a team in The Netherlands you would first have to change the rules to be able to sign players from other different European countries as you suggested. No way the country can provide enough quality players to be able to keep up with the ELF.
The problem is, that this league is a direct competition to a domestic league. For example Switzerland. My hometown team are the Bern Grizzlies. Wy should i give a fuck for the Mercenaries... especially because the previous team "Guards" "stole" all the good players from Bern (from undefeated Swiss champions to last in the table).
Was soll anders werden?
It’s great you are posting LFA content. There are not a lot of people who create videos on LFA content (as one of your new subscribers mentioned.) Keep it up!
As an American I would watch the efl but I don't feel it's worth paying for the games a lot of games are blowouts and aren't competitive the stream seem glitchy there's a whole bunch of problems but I still find the league very interesting and entertaining from time to time I think they need to find a better way to pay players because that's ridiculous
Great video! I appreciate that, unlike the ELF itself, you openly speak about the league's problems. Overall, I still like the league, and it's good that it's there, but the problems are becoming more and more obvious and really cast doubt about the league's long-term future: - Boring, one-sided results and more and more blowouts - Almost all teams that are not from Germany or Austria have poor attendance numbers and many are financially struggling - Team owners are dissatisfied and openly criticize the league for their poor support of the franchises
You know, that’s a great idea. I’ll look into it. Really appreciate your suggestion. By the way do you know the duration of the season, when it starts and ends?
If they bring back the Monarchs, I'm buying a season ticket immediately... and how is Rome's team not called either the Eagles or the Centurions/Legionaries (or something similar)?
@@griselame I understand that. This original video was all about some creative ideas about what the league could do next. Rome came up in that context. My comment was about what Rome should be called if it did have a team, given the obvious historical connections of that city. If you can't get the hypotheticals in the original video or in my comment, then I can't help you.
@@revdgreen that's cool. Hypothesis aside, I'm sure the ELF will want to see Milan stabilize before adding a second italian team. They have had some of the lowest attendance figures in the league, not being helped by subpar results and recruitment. This is where adding a brand new team vs incorporating existing teams is a discussion that needs to be had. It has worked for Vienna for ex, but not for Milan or Prague. Lots of rivalry and bad feelings at the national level there
As somebody just getting an intrest into american football i never heard about a european league. I even wouldn't know where to watch it. I guess that's the biggest problem for the league 😅
This video is made from an American view. Please, consider TV rights are still a national thing and the language barriers within europe. Furthermore, the League is semi professional at best, most players do not get paid or the absolut minimum possible. You never mentioned the unsolved question for next years stadiums for Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin.
Yes, true, he overstates the importance of TV - TV deals in Europe will hardly make the league earn that much money. We're not in the US, where the major leagues make billions with TV deals. In Europe, almost any team sport except soccer is struggling to get good TV presence at all. The ELF has the huge luck that Pro7 is still broadcasting it in Germany.
The draft especially and a salary cap is everything competitive sports culture in Europe is opposed to. So what if 3 or 4 teams dominate the league for a couple of years. Happens in soccer all the time. We kinda like it when Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Bavaria Munich dominate their national leagues and the European Champions League and the 2 worst teams of every nations league will be relegated to the 2nd league of that country and 2 from the 2nd league get upgraded to the best league of the country. More american player would also net help with identification of the team of that specific team.
Portuguese league needs to implode just like happen in baseball in that country. Portugal is more closer to have a Lisbon league than national of football due to having a phase were temas burnt money to bring imports and since then the league has been losing teams or only having a lot of them in single location… so I guess this idea it’s a bit silly it self. just like reviving teams from the past, the best option is to bring top level teams.
Huh, I see that Munich Ravens just stole the logo from CANADIAN University Team Carleton Ravens (based in Ottawa, Ontario), that V is just like the Carleton's logo. Not good.
@@torstenscholz6243 yeah... but it surprises me that the logo of the U Sports (not even NCAA) team was ripped of... But yeah, teams stealing ideas for logos are a usual thing unfortunately.
Lisbon sounds like a brilliant idea, who doesn't think of American football when he hears Lisbon? How about teams in Sarajevo, Skopje, Chișinău, Nicosia or Riga? 🤣

Great analysis bro! Your videos are getting better and better.
Thank you so much. Coming from you, it means an awful lot to me!
In my 55 years I saw many "Profesional American Football Leagues" in europe.that implodes after 5 years I ll be not surprised when the EFL does the same
American Football is in a better place then ever before globally but this league does not have the billionaire's behind it that has saved MLS
@@davidfox9947 For me personally the ELF Looks looks like a snowball system.

I'm absolutely for a 2nd French team, and a British Team. But after that, I think we really need a Scandinavian Team.
@@torstenscholz6243 appreciate your nice comment dude! See you next season at the games!
Great Video!!! You've got some skills. I can't wait to see an update for the new season.
PLEASE join us in viewing the ELF Live series when it comes back next year!!!
Thank you, that sounds great. I will for sure!
Perfect. Did you watch/participate this last season? I'll try to remember to post a link when it starts up again.
I love the LFA content. Not alot of creators talking about it. You got a new subscriber in me bubba.
Thank you, I will definitely do more LFA content in the future!
Bring back the Scottish Claymores!!!
Actually, in Lisbon we have 4 teams: Navigators, Devils, Crusaders and Bulldogs
Thank you, I really enjoyed making it and plan on making more in the future.
Dublin, big support for American football in Ireland
As an American I would watch the efl but I don't feel it's worth paying for the games a lot of games are blowouts and aren't competitive the stream seem glitchy there's a whole bunch of problems but I still find the league very interesting and entertaining from time to time I think they need to find a better way to pay players because that's ridiculous
The NFL is leading the way with their NO BLOWOUTS every season! 😂
Great video! I appreciate that, unlike the ELF itself, you openly speak about the league's problems. Overall, I still like the league, and it's good that it's there, but the problems are becoming more and more obvious and really cast doubt about the league's long-term future:
- Boring, one-sided results and more and more blowouts
- Almost all teams that are not from Germany or Austria have poor attendance numbers and many are financially struggling
- Team owners are dissatisfied and openly criticize the league for their poor support of the franchises
I’d love to see a video like this for the Brazilian leagues of football!!
You know, that’s a great idea. I’ll look into it. Really appreciate your suggestion. By the way do you know the duration of the season, when it starts and ends?
I'm definitely rooting for another football league to be successful! I need a second NFL so bad!
If they bring back the Monarchs, I'm buying a season ticket immediately... and how is Rome's team not called either the Eagles or the Centurions/Legionaries (or something similar)?
Rome doesn't have a team
@@griselame watch the video.
@@revdgreen it's not happening anytime soon. Only real project going on right now is the Copenhagen ELF team
We want a London team!!!
Would be cool if they could work out some kind of major partnership with the NFL.
That would be nice.
Portugal is more closer to have a Lisbon league than national of football due to having a phase were temas burnt money to bring imports and since then the league has been losing teams or only having a lot of them in single location… so I guess this idea it’s a bit silly it self.
just like reviving teams from the past, the best option is to bring top level teams.
curious were you got the 1.6 million euros loss?
Theres a reason why UFL have only 8 teams, less is more, put teams where theres an interest in the sport, so germany and austria, nor spain and....etc
My PE teacher from last year plays for the fucking Reihn fire that’s mad
They should shrink to 12 teams. Too many blowouts. First shape the product, create exciting more games there is so much to improve.
Huh, I see that Munich Ravens just stole the logo from CANADIAN University Team Carleton Ravens (based in Ottawa, Ontario), that V is just like the Carleton's logo. Not good.
Wroclaw Panthers and Vienna Vikings logos also look familiar to NFL Fans, lol.
@@torstenscholz6243 yeah... but it surprises me that the logo of the U Sports (not even NCAA) team was ripped of...
But yeah, teams stealing ideas for logos are a usual thing unfortunately.
The problem with the UK teams will be, that great britain isn't in the european union
They don’t have to be.
Canada is not part of the US and have teams in the NBA, NHL and MLB
Swiss is also Not in the EU,but they have a Team
Schengen is what you're talking about. Switzerland is part of the schengen area, the UK isn't.
@@schliatzke6712 yeah, but If you have a EU Passport or Switzerland Passport, you can Go to UK without Problems
@@kitfisto4930 no, that´s wrong. and the us guys haven´t a eu-passport
You won’t get much support in Germany everyone already has a football club
What are you talking about? The ELF games have much more attendance than GFL Games. I know, I go to both. Even GFL2 and Regio. And DFFL
Actually we will see copenhagen
Oh boy, it started so good. But then it started shaking at "Scottish Claymores", finally lost me at "Lisbon". Nope.
Lisbon sounds like a brilliant idea, who doesn't think of American football when he hears Lisbon? How about teams in Sarajevo, Skopje, Chișinău, Nicosia or Riga? 🤣
