I just recently got this. It seemed to get overall good reviews, the genuine inks were reasonably priced and were larger than some of the other manufacturers of ink tank printers. The maintenance cartridge (which is there to catch ink from when head cleaning takes place) is user replaceable and is very cheap, whereas on some brands of printer it needs to be sent away to get replaced and at a considerable cost too. Whether or not I would need to replace the maintenance cartridge is unsure, but its good to know its user replaceable and very cheap if it does. First impressions are very good. Easy set up as was the ink refilling, really nice sharp text printouts. Briefly tried some graphics printout and I was very impressed also. The scanner seems very good as is the photocopying (both of which I use from time to time). I photocopied the included quick start guide that came with the printer which is in black-and-white and the photocopy I did looked darker and more bold and clear than the original document, which really impressed me. Hopefully this will last me for many years as we are not heavy users.
@@annatsygankova8448 It must have been a bit longer than I thought that I had owned this printer, as it was March 2023 when I purchased it. My opinion is the same as I wrote previously. Since writing my earlier comment, I have needed to refill the inks, but the ink that I used when I first got the printer lasted an amazingly long time. When I looked at the ink prices, and how much ink you got in the refill bottles, it worked out that each colour contained ten times the ink as my previous printer's ink cartridge held (and roughly around ten times the ink of other ink cartridges too). I find the ink refill bottles very affordable, and this printer is one of the only printers where it's been affordable for me to be able to purchase the original manufacturers ink. Hi Sadie, so I used the highest quality within the presets and make sure to select the type of paper you are using. Good luck!
@sadielester4467 hi, do you recommend this printer for shirts?
I just bought EPSON xp 4200 and when I first time printed the ink is smeared I do even set in high quality and gloss paper after printed how to fix that when it come with ink smeared?
So this is no uncommon, new printers sometimes dont process the ink well. At this point you will need to run a deep cleaning under maintenance.
Will this printer be able to handle Avery business card paper? My HP is so unreliable, or can print perfectly fine and then gets jammed or does not pick paper straight. I am planning to print my cards professionally but can’t do not just yet.
Yes depending on the gsm, you can look up gsm specs for this printer on Google.
@@BestPrinters I did get it and it does better job in handling the paper but the quality of the printout is a bit worse than my old go. That said, at least it doesn’t damage the cards so for now it is enough for me, once I settle on one design I will print them professionally
I’m wondering if you could assist me, I got an epson et 2850 today and I’m wondering if you know how to adjust the color quality as I can’t find any options on my laptop or phone app. It’s coming out a lot darker than the scans/pictures. Scans are very successful though. I haven’t got the proper paper yet but I’m using a very good quality Bristol 250gsm. Thank you in advance!!
It is within your settings on the device you print from.
I watched all your videos on the epson and canon ecotank and Megatank comparison but I still can't tell which is best.between the epson ecotank 2800 ans canon g6020 ,which would be the better purchase?
The Epson Eco Tank.
How do you know which photos are meant to be printed on a photo paper? What about the photos from a mobile phone? I bought a cheap Chinese photo paper and the results does not look as vibrant as what I am seeing on the screen. Does the quality of the photo paper make a lot of difference?
Brilliant video once again Brandon! I love Epson EcoTank inkjet printers!! 👍😁
Thank you, your support is unfailing!
I've had the ET-2850 for a year now. I've only used it for my college courses or for family who need to print out documents. For some reason, I never thought of printing photos. 🤦♀️ I do nature photography as a hobby (mostly birds), but the color never seems to come out right. 😭
Have you adjust your presets?
@@BestPrinters Yes, I have! 😭 The picture comes out clear, but it looks darker. 😬
Hi Brandon, great review thank you! I had a question: i noticed the HP paper you use is 300gsm, and on the et 2780 manual, the thickest epson paper it says it accepts is the Epson Ultra Glossy paper at 297gsm. Have you had any problems with this? Is it ok to print on the thicker HP paper/would it damage the printer at all for extended use on thicker paper? Thank you!
Hi Julie, I didnt have ant issues but yes you are right long term this may not be the best option.
@@BestPrinters On the website it says you can print up to 300gsm Compatible Paper Weight
64 g/m² - 300 g/m² why would this be a issue? I noted in the video you said its not compatible with cardstock however as long as its 300gsm or under woukdnt this work fine?
@@davidduce7119 Yes it will...don't listen to this guy...he tends to give false info on some of his videos. Keep your card stock paper at 300 or less g/m and you will have no issues. I have this printer and I use 199 g/m card stock with NO ISSUES AT ALL. Sometimes I wonder where this guy gets his false information from???🤔
Hi Brandon, can you please do a review of the Epson Ecotank Pro ET-5880 ?
Hey man! Maybe later this year thanks!
can u print on transparent glossy label paper?
Absolutely!
Do you recommend this printer to convert into a sublimation printer?
Yes
Can I sublimation tumblers Pictures
yes
Maybe I missed out on something or the review was just explicitly made to review print quality. But it would be good to know how long does the included tank inc last when printing photos or when printing black&white/greyscale as it might be a buying factor.
I am not sure, it would definitely be less than half of what it can print on regular paper.
Hi. I have Epson 2850 and can't print on Canon Matte Photo Paper MP-101. Could anyone tell me if I need a ICC or some kind? Is keep jaming the paper in.
WHICH PRINTER U SUGEST ME FOR PRINTING PHOTO OR SIMPLES PRINTS 😄
The Epson Et 4850
I cannot ever get my Epson ET 2850 to do double sided printing!!! Am I missing something?
mine seems to be printing the colors on the light side .. how do I adjust color to be darker ? thank you :)
Thanx for the video. I want to know the differences between ET 2850 and ET 2800, other than Auto 2-Sided Printing. is there a difference in the quality of the printing (because they have different ink ) ??
Size of the black ink tank is smaller on the 2800, I believe.
I can print written material from Internet BUT not pictures !!! What could be the problem ??from i
Your settings may be off. check the settings on your computer.
Thanks for the great overview of what this thing can do!
You're so welcome, thanks for watching!
is it noisy? all epson printer reviews i see, have too loud printing noise, I am so confused to decide which one to buy :(
Yes they are all kinda loud unfortunantely.
thnx gotta choose some other brand then @@BestPrinters
How many 4x6 could you print on full ink levels.
That is a tough question. I am not sure.
Do you have any advice on what to do once the printer starts squeaking? I use it religiously for school and it’s recently started to squeal and occasionally skip pages. But the cleaning series I did on it showed that nothings wrong
The rollers are probably worn, the best you can do is try spraying them with WD 40
@@BestPrinters wrong dont use wd40 on a printer
@@fpsmatt3577 any suggestion then about what to do to resolve the problem?
@@fpsmatt3577 printer technicians usually use eucaliptus oil to clean printers
@@RizaGunturPrakoso you misread this post..I didn't ask what to use tho. I've cleaned and maintained printers of all makes and models since 97 some the size of your bed if not bigger than a full size truck. I didn't use that either.
I have this printer I spend 20 photo paper and come bad quality and the ink never dry on the photo but I use same paper on different printer it is work really good.what is the problem?I change the sitting for photo paper and glossy and many things nothing work😢
You may want to upgrade to a higher model.
change the printer mean??@@BestPrinters
I downloaded the Epson printing app and , so far, have not been able to make it print from my phone. the paper enters the printer and just stalls there wasting ink. Do not know what I am doing wrong
Make sure you have the correct settings on your phone and printer.
My ET-2850 print photo is more red color. When I try to adjust color through "color correction" in printer properties, it doesn't work at all.
Anyone has same issue? And how to resolve it? thanks
I would upgrade from the 2850, it is a very basic model.
Thank you so much for sharing 🤗
You are so welcome!
trying to print to 4x6 size from iPhone using 8x11.5 paper, It is printing 8x11.5. What adjustment can I use to print 4x6?
Do you have to pay in the app in order to print from your phone?
No Epson IPrint is free
About long does it take to print a 4x6?
Yes
How big is the printer
You can find the specs through the link that I have and the description box.
Why is my et3850 picture prints look blotchy with tiny squares PLEASE HELP MEEEE😅😅😅
You may need to clean the printhead.
Also, I have printed just fine on card stock.
Ok good!
So confused when you say it cant do card because my 2820 can do card and this is pretty much the same.
Yes you are correct it can
we need the 2850 print jobs compared to the 8500 im trying to see if the extra money is worth it
I got the same questions but I just read a lot of folks complaining about 8500's bunch of different problems, so, now, I am afraid to buy one...better just lose 240$ instead of 650$...
Uhm, trying an Epson Printer with Canon and HP paper? Why not Epson specific Photo paper?
I ran out sir!
They shows paper missmatch issue and also photo quality issue
hmmm
Much better - thanks
No problem 👍
I have this printer and the colors turn out dull and you can slightly see printing lines. I’ve done some nozzle cleaning but it doesn’t seem to help. Pretty frustrating
I purchased this printer recently, and I'm experiencing issues with printing glossy paper. The output displays sharp lines from top to bottom and roller dots. If anyone has insights on how to address this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
make sure to adjust the settings.
Thanks!
You bet!
The printout is like a painting compared to a photo , tilt the printed paper a little more that we cannot see it ....
Hey, thanks for sharing! The pictures look amazing! I am considering to leave the HP world in favour of the Epson Eco Tank printers. I am reading a lot that a full tank refill will last for an enormous amount of prints. Can you give a rough estimate (based on your experience) how many pictures you can print with full tanks (10x15, A4, doesnt matter what you can refer to)?
It is hard to give a number but probably double what you normally would be able to.
Great, helped a lot in the choosing of a new printer 😊
The epson et printers are the worst printer they constantly clog its a never ending nightmare. I regret this purchase. I have only printed 227 pages and at least 100 of these pages were nozzle checks and test prints. I have done nozzle checks head cleanings everything possible to get magenta back working and nothing. Its a $300 nightmare customer service is no help either. Save yourself the frustration and read the reviews on any printer you are thinking of buying and take the negative ones seriously even if only a few. I wish i had done so. I also wish i still had my original box this sucker would have been gone a long time ago. Another lesson keep your box the store will not return without it. So in a world where loosing $300 and still needing a printer this situation is not ideal. Happy holidays
wow, sorry
What’s a better option??
Same here!
Apparently the ink dries out in the nozzel if you dont print regularly (between every 3 days at most). Maintenance prints can prevent this.
La Nadia de la bolsa
only 20 photos though, lets the ink is $40 for the set that's $2 a photo! is there any other printer can print many more photos?
Can itprint on sticker
Hi would you recommand for a small business of greeting cards? Thank you :)
Yes, definitely!
How to print 4 x 6 photo on 8 1/2 x 11 paper
Through your computers presets.
Thanks 🙏🏿 I was abt to buy a expensive HP printer 400€ and I saw your video abt witch brand you think is the best between HP Canon Epson and you recommended Epson. Then I start searching for Epson printers and I found them much cheaper with more option compare to HP. After a long time searching I found this printer and I do feel like this is really a good printer. I can get it for 277€, so tomorrow I am going to buy it. Thanks so much for your help and advice! If you prefer any printer above this one the. Let me also know to consider it! Thanks again!
Its my pleasure, best of luck!
Two sided b&w printing slow compared to my ancient Brother b&w printer
lol
Dude I don't know who lied to you but I have this printer and I use card stock paper on a regular basis with is printer with no issues. What would even make you think this printer can't handle card stock paper???
My print quality has been HORRIBLE!
you may want to consider cleaning the print head.
Unfortunately, I want to use cardstock
Thats ok
Doesn’t take cardstock!😳
It takes cardstock I used 110 lb in mine
@@angelenarogers7352
I looked at the manual online and Epson said this model can accomodate up to 27# paper. Geeze! I don’t know what weight plain copy paper is, but I’m guessing it’s not to far from 27#. I use 65#, #80, 110# with my Cricut. I thought I could use this printer for waterslide paper and png picture files printed on cardstock.
I bought this at Costco, so I guess I could set it all up and if it won’t take at least 65#, I’ll return it.
Thanks for the quick reply.
It does!
It’s so loud 😂😂😂
The printer?
@@BestPrinters yes the printer
I did not know you could not use card stock, does next model after ET 2850 print on card stock?
Does that mean that 254/GM bussiness cards will not work?
the end of the video sound is just damaging the ears, please fix it and dont do it again!
OK!
now time to buy a real camera that will make great prints
