I have owned Scag mowers since 1994 and in my opinion,they are the best commercial mower on the market! I do all my maintenance on my scag mower and if you do your maintenance properly, these mowers will run forever,never failed me.
This video does not change my opinion on Scag they make the best mowers and last the longest. I've dealt with Scag and they stand behind their product.
Dealer problem, not Scag problem. My dealer and scag took care of me. Had a first run of the new tiger cat II. The first ones ended up having a frame alignment issue causing hydro belt to pop every 80hrs give or take. Got to talk to a head engineer at scag on the phone. They replaced the frame and my dealer had me in a loaner while they had my machine. I have used all the current decks. The Velocity + is hands down king. Stripes better and does not clump. Fans the clippings out and they basically vanish. Write, Exmark, Toro, Bobcat, cub commercial, all clump in morning dew on our tall fescue lawns. The next best deck I have used is JD's 7 iron deck. Just about as good as the Velocity+. I'll personally never switch away from scag. I haven't double cut a single lawn ijn nearly 4 years!
I have scag and exmark love them both. My Scag is a 03 turf tiger liquid cooled and still going. Scag tech support to me was top notch, always got a answer when machine was down. Exmark tech support wouldn't help me when my turf tracer was down in the field!! Told me take it to the dealer? Thanks pal for the assistance. Most guys in my area use to have scag, now they are changing to exmark and Toro.
Man y’all got some bad deals. My tiger cat 2 did great it’s first season and my dealer called me 5 months after i got it to see if i was still happy offered to do a full service and everything on it for free. Because it was still under warranty and wanted to make sure I’m happy. I hate too see y’all having such bad experience with Scag. But every place is different and hope the next mower you pick they keep you happy.
I am slowly starting to switch to ferris. I done with scag with there issues. I whent to the dealer because the kept shutting off. It's a shame that me the customer has to figure what's wrong with it.
I have had Scag and Ferris not any more. I have Toro and Exmark love them. Ferris if grass is a little wet it will not fan out gets clogged up do not have a problem with Toro or Exmark . I have a 60" Toro a 60" Exmark zero turn a 54" Exmark walk behind a 36" Exmark walk behind and 2 Toro push mowers.
Replacement parts being on hand and in stock and not having to wait for parts to be shipped a huge buy or not to buy. The least length of down time for waiting replace a broken part is what is most important
Well looks like a TORO or the Wright, but probably the Wright. However, the John Deere's were the only ones Nick and Pizza truly got to test in the field. So I think there will be some that are green, some yellow, and some red mowers.
I have the Scag 48" gear drive walkbehind and noticed the blades/spindles had a little too much vibration at 10 hours new. I greased them and reduced the vibration. Called Scag and they would not commit to saying they had not greased the spindles adequately at the factory. The selling Scag dealer missed the fill pipe on the Kawa motor (apparently these Kawa motors come from Scag with no motor oil in the sump) and the dealer mechanic spilled oil on one side causing the brake to not work and I lost control and ran into something. The dealer tried to tell me it was grease. I know the difference between grease vs. motor oil. I returned to the dealer and the mechanic had to remove the left side wheel and remove the motor oil spill on the brake. The Scag is a good mower and I find the wet cutting ability to be good for all weather. Next is a redesign of the exhaust system when the season is over. I'm getting reversion in exhaust flow at idle and 3K rpms. The right side cylinder runs hot due to the reversion and I do not like the stumble at idle this 2 cylinder has due to reversion. I had a V-6 Buick with the same tubular steel exhaust manifold reversion and 20 hours of cutting and welding fab gave me 4 more miles to a gallon and top speed was improved.
I’m also parting ways with scag I have a vride and a tiger cat 2. Both of my mowers have not been assembled right from the factory on the vride about 150 hrs my left wheel about fell off because they did not tighten the bolts down on the wheel motors most of the bolts snapped in half except 1 and my tiger cat 2 at 30 hrs the deck locked up and the foot pedal would not release so these will be my last Scag’s probably going to switch to exmark
Skag is better than wright or toro. You have to maintain them. Now getting rid of skag because of the dealership is probably a good thing. Go with whichever distributors that treat you best.
I had a front caster wheel brake on my brand new 2017 48 swzt less then 50 hours on it at the time and dealer would not do a thing about it. Was very disappointed I know I'm no huge company but have 36 swzt 48 swzt and 52 tiger cat all new from the same dealer but I have learned from that experience. Will not be returning to them ever again.
Hey I'm not sure if you already chose your replacement for the V ride but check out Bradley mowers man. I own the 52" with the briggs and stratton vanguard engine. It has plenty of power, the engine is top of the line, and you just can beat the price (I paid $4000). It's basically a bobcat quickcat clone without all the fancy features. Now there are some issues like no fuel gauge or hour meter but the hour meter is a quick fix, the no fuel gauge is not a deal killer. I know you were concerned about the dealer support but Bradley has outstanding customer support. They will pay any dealer for repairs and provide expedited shipping of parts to dealer or you. Now a lot of people like local dealers because they think they can just walk in and have their mover fixed right away but odds are the dealer have to order parts for you anyways. All mowers are really the they same, all your really buying is the frame. Everything else is manufactured by someone else.
Im having the same problem , i got two scags , but theres no representation , i bought mowers from mowers inc ( sarasota , bradington ) and action mower in cleveland fl. ...neither dealer cared if i had the mower i wanted , or cared if they ran when i needed them , so im giving up on lawns , building the tree side of the business and the mechanic fabricating side of the business , we will build our own mowers soon
I’ve owned Scag since 2013. I switched all equipment over to Scag in 2013. I’ve had nothing but great support with Tech Support. Perhaps you need to switch dealers.

How many spindles went bad under warranty? Had one go at 700 hrs on one of my mowers, wasn’t a question whether it was covered or not dealer got it running the next day.
I would like in your slow season get everything off the trailer. .clean it check for rust, repair anything that needs it, any reinforcement that needs to be done...Then prime it, paint it all your Ninja green, then hit it with clear coat a couple times..protect it.. Like the white rims

I'm just a property owner with 4 acres I bought a hustler 60 and was thinking about getting into Scag products but this isn't cool Scag should have backed you, I love watching your videos I recently purchased a 24-foot enclosed trailer and had plans on loading it up with Scag products, guess I'll rethink that !
Wright mowers are family owned company that actually sends mowers to guys like you for testing, they take feedback from consumers and make changes in their favor..

You’ll miss the velocity deck unless you get John Deere they have essentially the same deck. Best deck for all conditions hands down. Stripe great as well........stay greasing
The only thing I see wrong with Scag is some of the owners. My 12 year old rig is awesome, have no idea how long it will last. Warranty is an issue from what I have heard though.

I have been looking forward to this video. After years of loyalty to John Deere I went out of the box and picked up a 48inch ExMark Turf Tracer. Was planning on spending $8400 on the comparable John Deere Walk Behind, but the salesman was horrible. My old salesman retired in December and new guy didn’t want to deal with a younger guy. Got the ExMark with the exact same engine for $5900. Haven’t got to use it yet, but it runs like a beast. Loyalty is earned.

I loved the deer but mostly the wheels. but I learned that they are expensive to replace.. I haven't worked in so long I had to sell my favorite echo weedeater and both my hand held echo blowers. but they didn't do the job anyway. I need a back pack.. but anyway ignore scag they are better out there.so hold ur ground and don't delete nothing.. pz ninja out..
I'm lucky my dealer is close an they keep all parts in stock like hydro went out but it's an 03 turftiger Wen it went out it has 3000 hours on it an I called my dealer an it was on on the counter waiting on me that's mean that they did that

Scags are great mowers. I've had a turf tiger since 2000 and still runs great to this day most reliable mower I've ever seen
scag hasn't built a good mower in the last 5 years. Prior to that, yes, they were premium units.

Never had a problem with my Scag, dealer or repair/maintenance Scag shop. I was always told don’t blame your tools .
