Just FYI, the "P 888" or "888" at the top right of the Meridian ident isn't a channel number. 888 refers to the subtitles service provides via teletext on page 888. Every TV station in England use this 888 caption up until digital TV being introduced around 1998, and "888" is then being replaced with just "Subtitles".
What was the opinion of TVS v Meridian. Was TVS a superior station to Meridian and was it missed when it broadcast for the last time in 1992? God to think that was 30 years ago!
Gotta say, this was done BRILLIANTLY, truly well done.... yes, I too am an indent anorak, and also miss the TVS and Meridian Logos....such a shame ITV had to enforce the loss of such an iconic brand

Shannett Goddett never thought of that actually. I thought it might have been because the final product of the 1987 and 1989 logos didn't include the flower so they just went off that.

P 888 was teletext subtitles for the deaf then later subtitles when digital TV came out
P 888 was also used in Scotland and I suspect in Wales and Northern Ireland too.
It all went to **** once those 1999 logos were enforced. The only one who has a decent logo right up to the end was LWT

It was not one channel they were all diffrent companies biding for a certain broadcast area
The three were different company's. Southern was the company from 1958-1982, then followed by TVS from 1982-1993, then meridian from 1993 to present.
