  • This was the first run of the Outback Gladius, the brand new, budget-friendly crawler from FTX.
    Completely stock, it handled everything pretty well and was one of those rigs that just feels right.
    There will be more on the way and it'll no doubt be getting a few tweaks here and there but as it comes, I think anyone would be happy driving it.
    This truck has got it all and for very small money.
    Portal axles
    Two-speed transmission
    Lockable differentials
    Metal links
    This thing looks amazing and feels like great quality.
    It's retailing for under £300, so that's incredible value.
    If you want to get one, please support your local model shop but if you don't have anywhere nearby then here's a link to a UK retailer that you can trust.. (I'll get a tiny commission to help keep the channel going, so buying through this is very helpful)

    Please subscribe, like the video and leave me a comment to let me know what you think of the Gladius.
    Thanks for watching!

    gotta love the brand for what they offer. Still have my heavily modded ftx ravine rocking and 100% reliable and totally capable moa crawler

      They certainly bring great value for money. I think they're great.

    I really like the look of this. Can you do us a video showing the speed difference between high and low gears please?😁

      @rcpie  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's another video being edited/dubbed at the moment which will have a lot more explained. There's not a direct comparison, but some shots are in each gear and I mention the 2-speed.

    Once more for the price i will risk to say is the U.E. "version" of the new RedCat, a cheap but very fun and performer RC Crawler!

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It certainly seems to be aimed at the same market segment. Lots of manufacturers seem to be going for the performance/price option but some are still really pricey on this side of the pond.

      Oh Yha my Friend!!! Don't know in UK but here we don't have RedCat or Vanquish and the stores that make direct import charge a lot for the RCs (i understand, they have to pay heavy taxes customs etc)!

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, it's the same here. I think there's one shop that sells Vanquish and they're really expensive. Shame, as I'd love one.

      Hey Rui, picking one of these up tomorrow. You can use it for your own review on your channel if you like? Sunday?

      I like the Texan, it's a cool-looking truck and easy to mod into a beast of a performer.
      I reckon this is pretty good. Other than the looks, there's not much to criticise.
      More detail in the next video!

    I would love to see you compare this with your outback tracker. Loved your long term review of it. You are absolutely correct with nobody doing long term in-depth tests and plenty of unboxing etc and would enjoy seeing more of these on all your rigs. My daughter just got the gladius (am well impressed with it) for Christmas and has got me hooked on crawlers now as I only have bashers so far. Still deciding on what I will get. Keep up the great work/fun

      Thanks for the post. It's always good to get viewers' ideas and thoughts.
      I'll try to get some more long term tests done. They take AGES to edit, though!
      Your daughter will be very happy with the Gladius.. It's surprisingly good.
      My Tracker / Rescuer is in need of a full strip and rebuild. It's had a hard life and one of the locking diffs has finally succumbed as well as the gear change servo. I think the diff will be OK with some TLC but the servo is kaput, so I need a new one.
      Once it's all back together, I'll try to get a comparison done.

      @@rcpie thank you for the detailed reply 👍. Hope you do a video on that full strip down and rebuild. Yes I am impressed with the gladius of where and what it can do ( except for reverse 🤦) my daughter definitely loves it. Will be watching you like a hawk on what you change on gladius to make it better for her to drive. Appreciate all the hard work that goes into a video. I am currently looking into putting all the numerous footage into one video just for us as a surprise for her and it is a massive amount of work so again appreciate the work you do

      A tip for you.. I'll get it in a video soon but you can have first dibs!
      Disconnect the two motor wires and swap them over. Then, reverse the throttle channel on the transmitter. You'll find the forward and reverse are now much better balanced!

      @@rcpie thank you. Will try that today as we are going out tomorrow for a wet crawl (well daughter will n I will be trying to go slow with the mt10 🤣) thanks again for the tip
