- In this video, I will share What 5 things shocked me about #Finland when I moved here as a foreigner. I was shocked when I visited grocery stores and saw how the food is served by measurement also I had heard that Finland is an #honest country but it was a shock to me when my cycle tyre got stolen right in front of my house.

Country is what population does, one could say. All except the smallest towns have people from all over, their moral compass might not be perfect and addicts and sociopaths exist in unfortunate numbers.
Have you thought what Finns have to think when foreigners call Finland honest. They immediately have to think that why other ethnicities don't see honesty as valuable. Do they not have moral values and think cheating and stealing is just a good way to get ahead. After that, why do you think Finn's have some reservations about foreigners. It takes some time to get to know personally and to create trust. Crime statistics of Finland also paint a picture, where foreigners don't look so good. Socioeconomic situations and cultural misalignment can explain a lot, but that doesn't make the picture prettier. Foreigners are a much more mixed group than ethnic Finns, so judging anybody based on being foreigner is very unfair. But if that is all you know about a person, it tends to affect you. Similarly foreigners talk about Finns as if they would be a very homogeneous group. Compared to the rest of the world they are, but that is hardly relevant.
