There is one trail system near me that I ride regardless of weather. It’s used by hikers and horses year round and horses tend to do the most damage especially in early spring. You’ll find ruts from bikes on one or two trails come early summer and holes from horses everywhere.
Just a note from someone in the UK where there's only one clay area in driving distance.. we all ride all year round no matter the weather. The ruts, gulleys and swamps simply become features of the trails and no one really minds. These trails aren't maintained anyway so it just constantly evolves
Here on the east coast of the USA you get lambasted for riding in the rain or even drizzle. I've been mid ride when a storm broke out and was ridiculed for just trying to get back to my truck for "ruining the trail". Unbeknownst to them, I help maintain that trail.
@@princehumperdink1266 that sucks im in Scotland n u just go ride when n wherever u want doesn't matter about conditions, its kinda like if we didn't ride in the rain we would never get to ride
Nice one, im in Scotland so wear a lot of endura gear, my biggest problem with them is they make something really well so i decide to get more and they've changed them for the worse. I have 3 pairs of single track 2 trousers and they're totally different to each other. Same with jackets my old single track 2 jacket is perfect but theyve changed them and now u cant roll the hood into the collar n that does my nut in listening to it flapping around behind me
JEFF - I really appreciate your comments about appropriate times/places to ride in the wet! Thanks for encouraging riders to think 🤔 about preserving trails and responsible riding! 🙂
Jeff, great review. I always appreciate your honesty. One question, what gloves do you recommend for the cold days to keep the hands warm. I have broken a few fingers and frost bitten them so they are super sensitive when it gets cold. I often double up, but I lose a lot of feel. Any recommendations?
I have MT500 II waterproof trousers, I got them few weeks ago. A different model, it's the wind and waterproof trousers. You have Endura MT500 Burner, and the Spray trousers. I am 30(not eaten)-32 waist I have 82cm long legs, so I had to get Large, i got the retailer to measure it, So did not have to try it and send back, Large was 82cm. So I ordered it, but waist is too big, even with the Velcro straps maxed out, so I have to use a belt. The knee area is much more baggy than seen here, But I can't go for smaller trousers as length will be too short.
I get thin construction gloves from Home Depot, fairly inexpensive, and are kind of like neoprene for not so cold days. I am not sure what they are made of.
I have the MT500 II jacket, endura has a pic with a model wearing a medium, which clearly is too short for him, and I am 181cm and medium is the recommended size, but I tried XL, and XXL and both were too tight, not enough room for my wrist supports, and both were too tight with padding, but really too tight anyway without, but the length was good, but not for the arms, but I ended up buying the 3XL. which fits me well.
Hey Jeff thanks for the cool vids. The mt500 trouser sizing looks a little wonky. You and I are similar in size being 5’8” I weigh in at 155lbs with a 31” waist. I do however have larger than average thighs and calves. What size would you recommend? Small or medium? Under garments are fairly limited. Mostly just a chamois, some light merino base layer and TLD raid knee pads. TIA!!
Hey ADV fan, thanks for the note! My size mediums fit well, but are a touch baggy. I'd suggest ordering both sizes, then sending back the ones you don't like. Jenson has a good return policy like that. I dont mind the mediums with a belt, but I'm also riding with a pelvis protector and knee pads 24/7.
I have a pair of Endura MT500 pants for wet weather. Since I have a bit of a beer belly (I'm past 45, it's fine) and no butt, they keep creeping down when riding. The tightening should focus on the lower back and hips, not up in the waist. It's a common mistake in outdoor pant design. The materials are great and lower leg fit is perfect.
JKW - Concerning the MT500 Burner Pants: Does or would a good size phone (old note 8) fit in the pockets, and will be positioned to be comfortable during a ride?
Vince- I have an XS Max iphone, it's pretty big. It fits just fine while riding, and it's in my left pocket for all the riding clips when I'm waring these pants.
If you live in a clay based environment dont ride in the wet 😅 you here that scotland and most of britain. In fairness our purpose built trail centres are designed to be rode all year round. Natural trails can take a bit of a battering during the winter but you learn which ones can take it which cant. Irrespective of weather or season if you ride it regularly you should be prepared to help maintain it. Always interesting to hear the habits of another areas riders.
I sell Endura at our local bike shop and the Endura stuff is great BUT the old zippers were shit. But other than that reasonably priced well made products
Great vid...I'm in socal so maybe cold weather over wet weather down here
Thanks Jeff for your review, have been using Endura clothing for many years. Glad your giving them props!!!🤙🏽
Man, Seal Skinz socks have been the single best MTB related product I've ever bought!
You have answered so many of my questions. Thank you!

I don’t always get along with your riding style, but the videos are always very well made and the reviews are great!!
The manual smurf
If I could wheelie like that , then I could wear a blue onesie like that. Not until.
Now we have to see the new PNW line!
I am keen on trying their gloves, I like the palm material goes over the fingertips.
5:23 maybe some vasoline or something similar could help. 5:31 definitely a good idea to lube them.
Enduro and Giro. Those are both great brands
3:47 serious Camel Toe
🤣
More like a moose knuckle! haha

You should come to Lapland and ride in proper cold. :)

Man biking gear is expensive! Anyone have any experience with Zoic?
What size Endura pants are you wearing?
Belt loops a must. NO velcro,
Yeah my rising partner's velcro has destroyed my jerseys in the wash..

Socks, socks is a definite must as I'm getting up in age. As far as a good neoprene glove, LFS marine. Why pay for a biking name. 😁👍🏼
What happened with kitsbow?

@@JeffKendallWeed Thanks very much for the information and video Jeff!!! Sorry, but I ordered Black :-) .
@@vincedavis5326 lol that's totally cool! I wear the bright colors because they film better. They also look much cleaner for longer!
@@JeffKendallWeed Roger films better, cleaner too!
Good stuff bro🤘🔥
