In 1963, I saw Roy perform at Vestavia Country Club at a Frat Party after the Auburn/Alabama football game. I couldn’t believe it was him on a party room stage. I was up front. He was unbelievable. No studio enhancements. Just pure Roy. I’ll never forget his expressionless face and the sound that came out of his voice. He stood there, expressionless and hit notes that only most people could dream of. He was unbelievable on a tiny Country Club stage with a third-rate audio system. This guy has more talent than all the music artists of today combined. No auto tune, no pro tools, no backing track- nothing. One of the top 5 greatest singers of all time. There is a lot of talent on that stage with him, and they know he is in a whole different league.

This comment really resonated with me. He was such a loved and respected musical legend. He clearly brought so much happiness to all of the people here in the video and all of his listeners.
A Black & White Night is the greatest Roy Orbison concert there is. I still remember watching it on a series on concerts called "Cinemax Sessions", on the pay channel that also earned the nickname "Skinemax", because of their "Friday After Dark" programming, where they showed a lot of sexploitation flicks. (This was during my formative years, so I watched both.......and I'm NOT ashamed). Actually, the "Cinemax Sessions" were a lot of GREAT shows. I wish someone would release them on video.
Saw Roy in Portland, Oregon. Superlative concert...he played & sang every song from his catalog that mattered, he thrilled and transfixed the audience with a golden voice that had not dimmed - not even by one note...!
