- Reaction To Youp Van 't Heck - IKEA Bunk Bed (Dutch Comedy)
This is my reaction to Youp Van 't Heck - IKEA Bunk Bed
In this video I react to Dutch comedy by reacting to Dutch comedian Youp Van 't Heck and his funny Dutch stand up comedy sketch about Swedish furniture store IKEA.
Original Video - • Youp van 't Hek - IKEA...
It is a theater show from ‘94 called “Spelen met je leven” (Play with your life). In the part before the break it looks like a classic Dutch pub he has build in his attic as his wife doesn’t want him to go to the pub anymore. During the first half he makes a date with a lady via phone. She insists to date in a Grand Café instead of a pub, so in the break he did some redecorating to turn it into a grand cafe.
Youp definitely is one of the best Dutch comedians. Another one that had me in stitches is Harry Jekkers. The part of him in the military was great as well as when for a short while he was an English teacher..... And quite a few more.
Niet-rokersfeestje😂😂😂
And you're missing the last part that there was a second bed for the other child 😂
Time to finish up that coffin with the other 3 leftover planks! 😂
the "you" bit is not really translated well. we have 2 versions of 'you':
jij: common / between friends / kids etc.
U: the polite version of jij. So i.e, between a shop and a customer. unfortunately they use 'jij' more often than not
Note that in case of IKEA, there is a reasonable explanation for doing that: in Swedish, there is no formal form for addressing someone like we have in Dutch.
@AndreSomers ah, yes, could be. i do notice its more and more common with companies here like coolblue or odido etc. i find it annoying.
Back in the day kids addressed their parents with ‘U’. Also ‘U’ is common when there’s a big age gap, kids call me ‘U’ and I call grandmas ‘U’. I personally don’t like people addressing me with ‘U’ because it implies hierarchy and I like to chat on the same level.
@Happidap i usually don't mind either way, except with companies talking down on Paying customers.
@@AndreSomers dude that's not the reason. So an Albert Hein in Sweden would be run by the norms of the dutch? It was the beginning of the end for the "U" form for greeting people you didn't knew. The end of the costemer is king. The end of a little respect for the one who pays.
Old Dutch dark comedy that basically said aloud what people were thinking, but that you know you can't do or say. That is why it was so popular and liberating at the time.
A moment for the public to come together and listen to a comedian 'spitting his/her gall' our word for 'proper complaining' usually around the end of the year.
If you want a different taste of Dutch comedy check out Jochem Meyer or Andre van Duin who do more voice and physical work, both sing too, but you'll be able to find them relatively easily.
If you want another, very different comedian, perhaps try Herman Finkers.
He's a classic all right and knows how to play the audience.
As for suggestions, look up Hans Teeuwen, he's comedian from the south who's known for his rudeness but also becouse it all makes sense somehow.
hehe yup hes from the south me sister was in the same school class as him. He was already funny when he was young.
React to herman finkers.
In my opinion best dutch comedian.
🤣😆😁😇🫡
That's too hard to translate. Te veel woordgrappen.
@@daphnelovesL altough he indeed has quite a way with words.
His demeaner and the way he carries himself, plus his tone when speaking makes the jokes even better.😁
It is always worthwhile to check out.
@@souldecides8931Part of the charm of Herman Finkers is his dialect which will probably be lost on someone who doesnt speak Dutch .
To me as a Dutch dude they are both really great but different ❤️💪
Herman Finkers is veel te moeilijk om te vertalen. De helft van de show gaat verloren in de vertaling.
The set is part of the live show. Before the break it looks like a old school pub up in is attic and because of the story he is telling he has to rebuild it to a more posh grand Cafe. That's also why he has the suit on to appear rich and successful for his blind date😂
I find najib Amhali very funny comedian in the Netherlands. He isnt dutch himself but he grew up in the Netherlands so is a dutch comedian
He is absolutly Dutch! Just not by birth..
@Flying.Dutchm4n i do think so as well. It isnt meant in a negative way.
Only his older stuff.
In the Netherlands we have a tradition of comics making theatre shows which are like full theatre performances. Full shows. And not like Stand-up comedians American style who only make shows of 1 hour. In The Netherlands people like Youp aren’t called comedians but Cabaretiers. They design a show around a certain theme. Then also with stage design which designs the overall theme. And they often also sing songs in between their comedic sketches. They go on tour with these theatre shows. And then a couple of years later they come with a new show. My favourite Dutch cabaretier is Brigitte Kaandorp. American style stand-up comedy also is popular in The Netherlands …
Would love to see you react to Daniel Arends. He's a legend
Idk if his comedy works well with subtitles
One that you definitely need to check out is Herman Finkers. He's got a really dry, understated sense of humour. I love it! (And I'm not easily impressed by comedians.)
ows like these take upto two hours and often heve a theme during the show.
it all fits together and is often a story over the entire show.
also most of the time, songs are included and the shows often have moments that make you think about seriuos ithems.
especialy youp is good in that kind of storytelling.
if you get the chance watch one of Youp's entire "cabaret" show as we call it in the netherlands.
I really like lubach, he does news and comedy.
Aeroflot by Najib Amhali is super funny as well and I think it's very understandable even for non dutch people!
I mean "vliegtuig" by the way
When talks about his brother he means top field hockey player Tom
I have had the same.
I just finished the bed, my wife came into the room;:
"Hé Albert, I missed you the hwole night, you like a breakfast?
By the way, that bed is the wrong model.... Let's go to IKEA, we like it there."
I brought her to IKEA and I never picked her up, never....!!!
i know of a ikea bed that has a manual with 2 seperate beds in it so you could build the other version of the head board and be halfway into the book to realise that you made the wrong version.
The picture is too stretched out. Sorry.
Yeah, maybe make it back-order&-white or something. Or in negative?
Kan expres gedaan zijn omdat je anders auteursrechten moet betalen.
@jwijn Zou kunnen.Ik heb daar geen verstand van.
This kind of comedy is much better than american comedies just standing with a mic
Please watch Brigitte Kaandorp; this woman is hilarious.
And Hans Teeuwen; he's so rude that it's really funny too!
"Neem geen kind"😂😂😂
Very nice video! Nice to see such a fragment from a long time ago again! For future videos, could you stretch the original video a little less? It is more pleasant to watch if the original video is shown in the normal aspect ratio.
Harrie jekkers is a good one
Bert visscher, Wouter monden
En many others, both big and small, are nice
So many guys names. I can't help it, I need to throw in my favourite comedienne Brigitte Kaandorp.
My favorit comidian is ronald goedemondt
My suggestions is jogem myer especially "school reisje" (school trip)
Arjen Lubach and Peter pannekoek are more younger dutch comedians
both not funny at all
There's some context and jokes you missed due to either not seeing the whole show, or because it's referring to something going on at the time. For example, the 'YES' when he was talking about his 'house sponsor' (mortgage provider) was because that was their slogan in a commercial at the time and that bank was also sponsoring AJAX, the well known sports club of Amsterdam. It's probably still not as funny to you or me as it was to people at the time, but now at least you may get a bit why people were laughing here and there. As crass as he could be, Van 't Hek could also be quite subtle.
His sketch about going on vacation to France was entirely too recognizable too to many Dutch people.
hi maybe you should buy a shock mount for your microphone, 'cause every time you put your hands on the desk or slam your knees against it there's a quite loud boom
I'm a big fan of Youp but I need to mention someting .First there were the great three; Toon Hermans , Wim Kan and Wim Sonneveld. And than came Youp, Herman Finkers, Freek de Jonge,.... .the thirth wave came from Hans teeuwen, Najib, .... But the great difference between a caberetier and a stand up comedian is the musical act. Without it your just doing stand up.
Try Arjen Lubach or Herman Finkers
Hans Teeuwen is absolutely hilarious
i find Ronald Goedemondt very funny, he does standard standup shows ( th-cam.com/video/1_f7G_PsK2I/w-d-xo.html ) but also does sketches on TV called "sluipschutters", very funny.
try Jochem Meijer
Was thinking about him too, Klapperende eierstokken (Adéhadé)
Dutch new years video?
You shoud try jochem myer
Van 't Hek.
Watch Hans Teeuwen (Live in London), no subs needed
i really cant relate.
IKEA is easy as piss to build for me. though readying and assembling stuff might be the only thing im naturally good at with my autistic brain.
okey i can sort of relate.. i helped my uncles assemple a bunkbed once but i arrived a little late.. and the 1st thing i told them is to flip the instructions 180* degrees .
then i kinda of slowly took over the entire project as i suck at communication too.
Nice comment. Youp shows a hilarious world wide recognized experience with IKEA. Watching your vid I remembered an even hilarious music video made 5 years ago by Kurt Hugo Schneider and Emma Heesters, you probably know them in a IKEA in Brooklyn NY: th-cam.com/video/7r9mAausR0Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=09t64BY2yugdHX64
Just a few names ; Peter Pannenkoek / Jochem van Gelder / Brigitte Kaandorp ( hilarius songs) / Theo Maasen ! ... etc etc .. enjoy
Jochem van Gelder? Je bedoeld Jochem Myjer neem ik aan?
Hek***
George Carlin vibe
Why does it look like the sceen is stretched out so wide? Comedian now looks very short en broad.
Vind er geen bal aan.
How are people struggling with IKEA furniture? You sort everything by type and follow the instructions. It's very simple.
A great one to react to would be Alex Agnew, a Flamish comedian. He is the guy behind the Hitler-speech meme.
Am I the only one getting a headache from watching this stretched out video and subtitles?
I haat Youp! I hate Youp! I lot are much more fun!
No, it's actually a really dumb joke. Expedition in logistics just means delivery to the customer. IKEA lets you pick it up yourself where you go into expedition yourself, or they send it to you. It has nothing whatsoever to do with going on an expedition, and I find it a rather lame word play joke; lame because it doesn't reflect IKEA at all.
Also, IKEA doesn't have text in the manuals, so...
You work there?😂
But out of stock really happens, as well as incomplete packages. Also the frustration is real, starting with many components. Not all people have 3D skills. But the biggest misstake is to start mounting when you are tired after a day shopping.
He didn’t say the maniak had text, it had instructions which told him to do X, Y, Z.
Around 30 years ago, the instructions lacked those pictures you have today, explicitly showing the differences between the items (like the extra hole, type of screws etc).
Furthermore, you may not like the “expedition” joke, but if you don’t see the difference in appearance between the shop and the expedition, you aren’t gonna get this joke.
what is this fat mode video? kinda annoying
