My wife and I just got home from Paris yesterday. It was a 6 day 5 night trip from New York for $600/per person flight and hotel. We each brought $400 spending money for the trip so $1000/person for 6 days all in. That was flight, hotel and all food, wine and attractions. We took the train everywhere. The transit system in Paris is outstanding!
I mean every second TH-camr has more subscribers than gabriel has..and they are not even close to his standards..I wonder why he is not in the "millions of subscribers" list. For me he definitely is in the top 3. Big fan of Gabriel Morris.
I was in Paris in September. I found plenty of restaurants with reasonable prices and plenty of bakeries with great sandwiches. The one thing that really surprised me was how inexpensive the Metro was compared to the Underground in London. Almost half the price.
The London Underground now has the facility to use a contactless card and once used 3 times ( in one 24 hr period)which equals approximately £6 it’s capped at that and won’t charge you any extra for all your travel that day , just keep using same card 👍
IMHO, this video deserve more view and likes. Hardly find any videos that talk about the cost in Paris down to such specific level. Thanks a lot for the infos
I'm planning a 6 day trip in December my flight cost $479 and my hotel in Le Marais district cost $580..so a little over $1000 cad for return flight in a hotel in a prime location.
St.Christopher's was really loud.We stayed there one night in a private room.We had a room in a budget hotel about a block away for a lot less.We did sneak back in to St.Christopher's later in the week to use their laundry. If you open and look out the skylight in their laundry room there is a a really nice view
Gabriel Traveler, I have been watching you for a long time. I just got plane tickets for Paris in July 2017. I come on youtube and there you are in Paris! Thank you so much for the travel tips, very helpful.
saw tons of pickpockets in the train station last time we were there...watch your stuff they will even follow people onto the metro and will pick your purse or pocket on the metro
Gabe, you seem to hang around the nicest people in your videos. You pick well the ladies, they all seem nice and clean and that speaks well for you. Well done :)
just returned from paris. food can be inexpensive or expensive. just depends on what you want to spend. not everyone who works in paris can afford fine dining. i found bakeries, delis, greek, american, fast food, convenience store and grocery store options.
stayed at st christopher's for about half my stay in paris. great hostel. it was mid-january, so similar pricing. nice stay, clean, hot showers, good breakfast. euro was worth about a$1.50 back in 2010 though. fairly pricey city for off-season travel.
i've never stayed at a hostel. i see reviews of hotels and hostels online and there seem to be more complaints at hotels than hostels which seems a bit odd to me because you usually have to share a room with many people and a bathroom and sleep in bunk beds.
I'm staying at hostel in Waikiki Polynesian Hostel. Have own room, kitchen, own bathroom. I'm same. But 2022, my cruise ship from Australia final destination is hnl. 2500 from ship booked waikiki. Found hostel from Gabriel.Im 70 and staying at one, never thought .friend of mine stayed in them throughout Europe with her husband. She's older than me,has plenty of money, but cheap. Think about doing it!
geat video. pretty much same prices as rome. i recently was there and i was shocked by the prices, in greece everything is just so affordable it took a few days to get used to the prices in rome ....in greece you can get a perfect sandwich for 1.50 euros coffe for 1.50 when its a freddo and 1 for simple esspreso the bus tickets are around 1 euro and a 6 plates meal in a taverna will cost you 35 euro max.
고서연 india is beautiful! I went there last year and i ate exotic fruits! But one day a man brought me an apple ( exotic😂😂) so i guess they don’t have apples there😅
Hi Gabriel, love your vids! When you go to India can you do another 'how expensive is...' and maybe an updated 'living in India for $15/20 a day'? Thanks and happy travels!!!
I've been told by very close friends that scam artists and pick pockets are everywhere. I'm reluctant to travel there, stay in a hostel, or pull out my wallet in paranoia of whose standing near. I'd rather create a more authentic experience my visiting small villages or townships than risking a suspicious dear eyed adventure in large cities like paris
if you are going to a wonderful,m beautiful city like Paris, do not nickel and dime your way through cheap restaurants. Save some, borrow some, or steal some money so you can have some fun and not be thinking about your expenses every second
I think prices are the same as US, my wife and we spent more money in New York City. I remember to spent almost $90 in the Olive Garden in time square just for soup and salad and two cups of wine.
it is too expensive ..a water is at least 2 euros or 1 euro if you're lucky. The SMALL bottle. food and all that is expensive too, one needs a lot of money in credit to be able to enjoy good time there, AND don't forget that you pay A LOT for a LESS experiences in ''Hotels'' ..Check out my paris/europe vlogs :) but its a LOVELY city tho ..
If you want to have a bottle that parisian buy usually ( not the tourists) you have to enter into real supermarket : Monoprix, Franprix, Carrefour Market... those are some brand of supermarket really known in France. It is 0,20€ for a bottle of water. (not the ones in the fridge). At the back of the shop. Not the ones at the front in the fridge, which are more expensive.
Why do you not book hostels/rooms with kitchen? So you can buy food in the supermarket (ex breakfast and lunch) and store/cook it? And then maybe buy dinner at a restaurant if you want?! Wouldn't you save a lot of money if you did that? Or is it, in general, cheaper to book hostels without kitchen and then buy all the food at restaurants/super markets/fast food? Or do you buy food just because you want to experience that country/city's food? Just curious about your reasoning!!
On on a cruise from Brisbane to hnl. Getting into hnl and just checked hotels for 1 yr from now! All gone! Ritz Carlton was available, can't afford. Watched your video on Waikiki Polynesian Hostel. Booked 1 room queen studio, private bath,kitchen.$109 a nite.staying 7 nites. Im 70, retired flight attendant, don't care if I'm oldest, too bad! I'm going to hnl in 2 months also. $107 plus those damn pool fees, but for 10 nites. I don't pay rent. My sister gets sick of me. So I go. Sept 3 cruises in Europe,2 weeks Nice,2022 sydney,Brisbane, rio,Buerno aires! Fly for free! Thanks for inspiration!
If you do come to delhi, please arrange a fan meetup! It will be awesome! And I will be more than happy to show you around Dwlhi from the locals point of view! And keep up the amazing work!
Gabriel, I like your budget travel tips, both to expensive places such as Paris, and less expensive places such as India. Would love to see your take on expensive Hong Kong and inexpensive rural China. (Most people in HK can speak English; most people in rural China don't.)
Random Bike Trips If you choose the goods burgers restaurant it worth the price because it's french gastronomy burgers. You have fast foods for cheaper burgers.
Keep in mind you don't tip in Europe and the price you see is the price you pay, no tax added afterwards. Eating out there is typically cheaper, even considering the exchange rate. Mind a possible gratuity charge.
awaiting for your videos from india tour. also if it is possible please do visit my home (vasai, mumbai) :) we have some places you will like to visit here ;)
hey David, excellent question, that's what I'm trying to decide! It depends on where I'm going next and I haven't decided that. If I might go somewhere cooler in a couple months then it would be good to have, but I don't feel like lugging it around. Basically I have three options: hold onto it all just in case I need it later, mail it back to the U.S. or just give it away or leave it in my room when I move to another place. Much of it including the brown jacket, long underwear and warm hat I bought in India previously and could replace again in India for less than it would cost to mail it home. But I also really like that jacket (the one I'm wearing in this video). I bought it for only about $5 years ago. So basically I haven't decided yet.
Gabe, are you going to be travelling all around India? Any plans or just going to wing it? Loving this trip so far. It's been very diverse. I was wondering, after travelling so much do you still enjoy it as much or does it get boring after a while?
Hey, just winging it as usual though I have some idea of where I want to visit. Mostly places I've been before just because I've been to so many places in India and haven't heard about that many interesting places I haven't been to yet. But we'll see where I end up. Also I'm considering going to Sri Lanka. Good question about whether traveling gets boring. I can definitely get traveled out, and I think that's why I decided to head for India, partly because it's simultaneously both familiar and interesting. I wasn't feeling ready to tackle somewhere completely new and different like elsewhere in Africa, just seemed like too much. But coming back to India is almost like going home for me, plus I know where to go that you can just chill out, relax and recharge. I would say that traveling itself can be infinitely interesting, there's always more you can see in this big world, I've only been to 35 countries so that leaves a lot left to explore. But it just depends on your own frame of mind and whether you're open to what new places and people have to offer or else over saturated and just want familiarity. It kind of depends on the day for me and on various other factors like whether I'm meeting people, getting enough sleep, eating well, clicking with the country or not, etc.
Gabriel Traveler Thanks for the answer. I think it was the part in the video where you mentioned you were going to goa but did not sound too enthusiastic. It made me think, does it get to a point where you're like it's just another place...' Suppose you still got a lot of places to explore having been to a relative few 35 countries. And I suppsoe now your in india you'll get some proper heat and the weather cerrtianly makes a difference. By the way, the video going viral and the subsequent subscriber boost, did you find that has given you a motivation boost?
Exactly on all counts. That video that went viral only did that for about a week. It's still my best performing video but is just getting a few thousand views a day now (it got almost 4 million in a week). The best thing is it made about a thousand dollars in that week, which was good timing because January is always the worst month for youtube. So that helped my next payment big-time when I'll need it. It was an exciting ride but didn't last for long, back to the usual slow but steady increase.
Sometimes yeah, and what's really annoying is that flying at weird times throws off my sleep schedule. I had to get up crazy early for this flight, then it was a 9-hour flight to Mumbai, a four hour layover, then another 1 hour flight to Goa. Arrived early in the morning, then I'm exhausted so I slept all day and then am stuck awake at night. So yeah it can be frustrating but it's just part of the experience.
Do you have any tips or know how to get cheap flights? Im planning to go backpacking in SEA in the summer , but Everywhere i look prices are in the thousands to get a ticket to there.
Yes, here's my video about that: th-cam.com/video/_CzZD59Y56o/w-d-xo.html You shouldn't have to pay thousands to get to SEA, especially booking in advance. Keep searching, try skyscanner's option in which you can pick the whole month and see the cheapest options.
Gabriel Traveler Didn't you understand me ? You have to show me your camera here in video film or photo ? What do you say ? Is it possible to make that ? Thank you ! All the best !
Speaking of Lahore, have you ever thought of Pakistan? I just saw a story on CCTV America, about how they're trying to improve security and encourage tourism in the north of Pakistan (mostly for domestic tourism). It could be very interesting, and real pioneering travel.
Hello Gabriel Traveler i have been watching your videos since the beginning of the summer... Full respect for all the things & trips that you have accomplished during all those years!!!!! Just continue what you do so well... by the way that cheese sandwich you eat in Paris is not the real french sandwich!!!!! a real one would be made in a traditional Baguette with no sesame seeds on it....... you got that in a train station in Paris.....let me guess at Gare du Nord or Gare de Lyon !!!!! Hahahahahahaaaaa. If you come back to paris let me know when......i will be so gratefull to show cool places to go and visit & of course you can stay and sleep at my place... Bon voyage.....Traveling is tough and dangerous so be safe... PETER McA Anwser if you can!!!!
I'm surprised the prices look cheap. I'm in Thailand and the prices here are out of control .. beers are going for B 80 and you cannot even go to Burger King a whopper, soda and fries over B 350
Maybe A! is right.it is high season now. Prices goes hop like everywhere else in high season. I am having second though about going. Far and expensive ain' t very appealing. I would have double the peso since i went if i go to Mexico instead......
For dinner I can recommend Quartier Latin and the south bank of the Seine. Typical French simple but very good food. Boeuff Bourguinon + Union Soup + Dame Blanche = €17 or Very good quality fries + Steak with mustard + salad = €14 Was actually amazed on how affordable dinner was in Paris, been to places in France that were more expensive than Paris. Also an option as in many cities are the English and Irish pubs. The Bombardier and The Frog and Rosbief , nice atmosphere and very international so good to have a chat if your French isn't so good. Different kinds of food served.
Joan Lynch It depends of the areas . In touristic and expensive places there are a lot of pickpockets and scammers . In poor places there are a lot of "thugs" , refugees and junkies. The common rules are : don't look like a tourist, don't look expensive and ignore weird people coming to you. Nobody is nice for free . Paris is like a magnificiant museum mixed with a third world population . As a Parisian myself i ´m always surprised how crazy beautiful is this city , i mean really . It's like disneyland with a bit of jungle inside.
Mmm . Blueberries! J'adore Paris...so many incredible memories..Merci Buckets timetraveller Gab...India will be more spirituelle en vision de gurus? Fantastique! 👍👍👍👍👍💗
Don't forget to document the flight! I/we love seeing the walk to the boarding gate and view from the plane, hoping in a taxi, etc. I know, I'm a dork. Safe travels my friend. I wish I was with you in person. TH-cam is the next best thing! 😉
hey Roy, I didn't video that journey, I was too tired out and wanted to take a break from filming. But some good stuff coming from India, as well as two more exciting videos from Paris.
It is very expensive for me over here in Ecuador I could get lunch for 2 dollars and 50 cents and that is soup and a plate with rice a meat and salad all together.

that is an awesome deal. I went to Paris last August and the Euro seemed a lot stronger than the dollar back then.
Just don't go during major celebration or events.
what do u care about the 3rd world countries?
Most 1st tier countries have tons of immigrants from other countries. Not sure what the big deal is...

Paris is located in North Western Europe. Regards

Good news about Paris Gabriel, thank you so much!
Great, glad to hear it.
This is actually a very good video. Thanks for making and sharing it.
Great, thanks.
The price for the laundry was nice. You will not find cheaper in town, where the prices will be 20% to 50% higher.
i loved this because I was just in Paris.

CDG, yes. It took around 30 minutes or so, it was a nice and easy train trip out there.
Do you have any tips or know how to get cheap flights? Im planning to go backpacking in SEA in the summer , but Everywhere i look prices are in the thousands to get a ticket to there.
Yes, here's my video about that:
th-cam.com/video/_CzZD59Y56o/w-d-xo.html
You shouldn't have to pay thousands to get to SEA, especially booking in advance. Keep searching, try skyscanner's option in which you can pick the whole month and see the cheapest options.
Are you planning on visiting Pondicherry when you are in India? Very cool place! Was there in 2015
I've been there before, and also Auroville nearby, not sure if I will visit again on this trip but it's possible.

Can you send images with your camera in a video film ?
I'm not sure what you mean.
Gabriel Traveler
Didn't you understand me ?
You have to show me your camera here in video film or photo ?
What do you say ? Is it possible to make that ?
Thank you !
All the best !
Arabians restaurants in Europe are inexpensive ! I prefer to eat in Syrians restaurants because they're inexpensive and their FOOds tasted good !
Safia Zad probably dog meat
Great video!
Speaking of Lahore, have you ever thought of Pakistan? I just saw a story on CCTV America, about how they're trying to improve security and encourage tourism in the north of Pakistan (mostly for domestic tourism). It could be very interesting, and real pioneering travel.
Yeah I've definitely thought about it, it's a possibility but I would have to look into it more.
when will you come to China?
I've been there actually, but just for a day:
th-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=shanghai
.)) you made 8 videos out of one day in Shanghai
I love paris 😍😍😍
Cool, yeah I got the sandwich at the Gare du Nord train station, which was right near my hostel. Thanks for watching!
How can you shoot on the rain ?
Don't you ruin the camera ?
I have a waterproof GoPro.
I'm surprised the prices look cheap. I'm in Thailand and the prices here are out of control .. beers are going for B 80 and you cannot even go to Burger King a whopper, soda and fries over B 350
Can someone else confirme prices are out of control in Thailand?
Depends on where you go. Where are you Al Z?
Maybe A! is right.it is high season now. Prices goes hop like everywhere else in high season. I am having second though about going. Far and expensive ain' t very appealing. I would have double the peso since i went if i go to Mexico instead......
Thanks very good 👍🏻🙏🏻💙🇫🇷❤️
today €7.70 = $9.48. last year the $ was a bit stronger
Correct, everything is a little more expensive. I'm in Europe again right now.
I love ur shirt🇮🇳❤️ and ur vlogs too.
Thanks.
For dinner I can recommend Quartier Latin and the south bank of the Seine. Typical French simple but very good food.
Boeuff Bourguinon + Union Soup + Dame Blanche = €17 or Very good quality fries + Steak with mustard + salad = €14
Was actually amazed on how affordable dinner was in Paris, been to places in France that were more expensive than Paris.
Also an option as in many cities are the English and Irish pubs. The Bombardier and The Frog and Rosbief , nice atmosphere and very international so good to have a chat if your French isn't so good. Different kinds of food served.
thank you for share! You're the best!
Thakk you safe travels
Merci Paris est chere j etait en Paris juillet 2014
Merci pour votre video quand vous visite paris
You did not have trouble with crime or pick pockets? I have heard that there is a lot of crime in Paris lately. Did you see any problems?
Joan Lynch
It depends of the areas .
In touristic and expensive places there are a lot of pickpockets and scammers .
In poor places there are a lot of "thugs" , refugees and junkies.
The common rules are :
don't look like a tourist, don't look expensive and ignore weird people coming to you.
Go back to Nepal again there's lots of beautiful places to visit "mustang, pokhara....!
No worries. I'll give you a pass this time. lol. Looking forward to seeing India!
Thanks man! :) India is definitely going to be epic.
In india u can have a lunch in 6 dollar and dinner in 10 dollar.......

Hi Ashish, thanks, not sure if I will make it to Delhi but we'll see.
I find it expensive I'm from south america.
It is very expensive for me over here in Ecuador I could get lunch for 2 dollars and 50 cents and that is soup and a plate with rice a meat and salad all together.
