I played in both Metropolis and Blackwater City in early 2002 in the demos after a few months I was lucky enough to play it good memories for me this game continues to be the best adventure game of all time
I remember this theme from when I first played the game as a little kid. There was so much magic in this game and especially in combination with the themes. Its so damn nostalgic.
TLDR; big dumb dongo tried to steal planets piece-by-piece to create a new one because they contaminated theirs so much it's inhospitable even with gas masks on 24/7
Someone’s probably already pointed this out, but this is actually the longest single ost for any level in the Ratchet and Clank (as far as a I know, feel free to correct me). Most ratchet and clank level music loops after the 2 minute mark but they actually added an additional section for the metropolis OST. In the UYA rendition it’s remixed to loop after 2 minutes, everything from like 2:30 onward in this version is unique to R&C1. Pretty interesting, but makes sense considering the grand scale of the planet

Currently replaying the first 3 games. I always felt 2 & 3 never quite lived up to the original. Yes, there was more to do, and gameplay was substantially better in the sequels, but I think the premise of the first game's story was much more involving and organic. Clank wanting to save the galaxy, Ratchet wanting to explore and enjoy himself. It always felt like the mission was second to the simple desire to see the galaxy, whereas the sequels were more focused on the mission, and Ratchet turned into more of an awkward soldier. Still, all 3 were a definite highlight of the PS2 age.

Chairman Drek is a much more likeable villain than Dr. Nefarious, who is almost entirely cliché. Save for a few standout parts, there's very little wit in 2&3. And it's a shame, because the gameplay is great. But like, that's just my opinion, man. Feel free to disagree.
Playing this as a kid I remember coming across that guy in the ship on this level and I didnt have the blaster yet( I was like 7 or 6). I tried and tried but I could not run past that helicopter enemy. I think all I had was the bomb glove and the flamethrower lol

You plug your brand new PS2, and launch that demo disc. After all, if this game is being made by the guys who made Spyro... It can only be good, right ? The game starts... And this song begins playing as you take control of Ratchet for the very first time.
I played this in Target for 5 minutes 10 years ago, I bought a PS2 shortly after, I don't remember ever buying a console that fast, and I haven't done anything like that since, actually... This game inspires me as a game developer to this day.

You got to believe me when I say I know that feel... it was R&C that got me started in game developing, go figure. Probably because the idea of crafting many plausible and never over the top worlds and you got the freedom of exploring them like you don't get in many games was just mind blowing at the time. And details mate, lots of details! Insomniac just knew what they were doing and what artistic path to follow.

I loved this game as a child so much, I completed it like nine times and never got tired of it :P

ya dude no shit, it took me soooooooo looooooong the first time i played through it. i have beat it easily 50+ times and it holds a very very special place in my childhood, especially the amazing music!
Not to sound like every other comment on here, but why they didn't use this theme, remix it, or at least reference it in any way in the 2016 remake is beyond me

Born in 92, the nostalgia is overwhelming. These games were so replayable! This, Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon for Gameboy was everything! Now I have to worry about women and jobs and stuff...ugh
You got to believe me when I say I know that feel... it was R&C that got me started in game developing, go figure.
Probably because the idea of crafting many plausible and never over the top worlds and you got the freedom of exploring them like you don't get in many games was just mind blowing at the time. And details mate, lots of details! Insomniac just knew what they were doing and what artistic path to follow.
