Both ronnies were in "four candles" - it's just that that one was eariler in the series which lasted for several years. The "blackberry" sketch was after Ronnie Barker had died, and was with Ronnie Corbett and Harry Enfield, another comedian.

UK here: We used to get so-called "gob stoppers" in the bottom of our ice creams, but were just a small spherical chewing gum. We also used to get a hard rock "candy" (American term) made up of many different coloured layers, again a spherical shape and took up half of our mouth (we were young, 10 ish), those were what we called true gob stoppers.

My favourite Morecambe & Wise sketch is the "Morny Stannit" sketch. Eric is selling a paper, shouting "MORNY STANNIT" and Ernie corrects his speech saying "Morning Standard" the rest I will leave for you to find. You won't find it on TH-cam.

I don't remember glass jars but the plastic jars and I absolutely loved getting 2 black jacks, mojos, or fruit and custard chewy sweets for ha'penny for 2. (0.5 pence in NEW 1971+ money). Old money meant you could get 960 of them for a quid, and post decimalisation we got 400 for a quid. Not that we ever saw a pound note as kids anyway.
Otherwise we paid for sweets by weight and the shop girls would scoop them all and drop them on a scale so we got to pay per 1/4. I do miss the good old days.

I remember buying 2 or 4 ounces of loose sweets when I was a kid. By the 1980s the glass sweet jars were being replaced by plastic versions. "Hundreds & Thousands" were popular, as you could make them last for ages. By eating them from the bag using a wet finger. Most small "newsagent" stores had shelves of sweet jars behind the counter, and penny sweets in trays under a glass counter. "Newsagents" stores main business was selling newspapers & magazines. cigarettes and sweets.

They were both in 4 Candles. In the Blackberry one, Ronnie Barker wasn't in it because he had died.

If you like this, you may also like a Ronnie Barker sitcom called "Open All Hours" set in a corner shop in Doncaster (which also stars a young David Jason who later appeared in hit sitcom "Only Fools and Horses")

The four candles was Ronnie Corbet (little one) as shop keeper and Ronnie Barker as the customer, the sweet shop sketch was other way around Ronnie Barker as the shop keeper and Ronnie Corbet as the customer. My blackberry isn't working was Ronnie Corbet (little one) as the customer and Harry Enfield as the shop keeper.

Ronnie Barker was a great character actor and could make himself look different in every sketch if he wanted to. You should also check out "Porridge"- Ronnie Barkers's prison based comedy, where he plays inmate Norman Stanley Fletcher. He looks very different again in that. It's one of the true classics of British comedy.

You should have a look at a show called open all hours. It’s a classic 80s uk comedy show staring Ronnie Barker. It was filmed in the village of Balby in my hometown (now city of Doncaster). It’s hilarious along with are you being served, last of the summer wine and one foot in the grave. Are you being served is my favourite. They don’t make them like this anymore. It’s a little close to the bone for nowadays.
