    Watching this in 2017, it just blows my mind how they are having a civilized conversation just after 9/11. People like to blame bush or Clinton or who ever, at least back then we had civility.

      Democrats having 'civility' is what led to the entire Republican party pushing us into two Middle East wars, and even a majority of the Democratic party agreeing with them. Liberal civility politics, the hard-on for 'bipartisanship' is absolutely fucking pointless. Al Gore and Democrats stupidly conceding the election in 2000 despite the fact that EVERY single counting of the votes showing that he won Florida and therefore won the election was a decision that helped lead to the 8 years of disaster under Bush Jr. Bipartisanship is not inherently good. As a matter of fact, it's always bad. With the exception of some bipartisan things that 'liberals' and Rockefeller Republicans did back in the 60s and 70s (civil rights, housing, urban development, New Deal programs etc). That is the only time in American history that bipartisan actually yielded good results.
      When you can get the neo-liberal, center-right Democratic party to agree with the insane, fascist, extreme far-right Republican party on something, it is 100% of the time going to be a horrible, extremely right wing policy that hurts Americans. Whether it's war, funneling more money to Wall Street and the wealthy with tax cuts, or de-regulating the corporate sector like Bill Clinton did which helped lead to the 2007 recession. Bush takes most of the blame obviously, but Clinton was almost as conservative as Bush himself was and they both were responsible for it. Bill Clinton, the 'best' Republican president to never exist. Every single one of his 'accomplishments' were all horrible Republican ideas from Newt Gingrich, because Clinton, like Obama, was a cuck that spent his entire 8 year presidency doing every single thing he could to hand the farm to the GOP. And ironically, the GOP absolutely DESPISED both of them, even though you would naturally think given how conservative both of them were, the GOP would have been astounded and proud of their records. Just more proof that bipartisanship and shifting the country further and further right wing is absolutely worthless and is the reason why elections are so razor thin even when they don't have to be. A next generation New Deal Democrat like FDR or LBJ for the 20th century could easily defeat the Republican party in a landslide. FDR held 80% of the Congress during his time in office, LBJ held less than that, but was still able to push through a great deal of his platform through wheeling and dealing. They simply do not make them like either of those men anymore.

    Hitchens was one of the greatest intellectuals of the century, but his ridiculous defense of bush stems from him being very close with bush and the republicans who he regularly had over his home in d.c for elitist cocktail parties. His defending of bush, Cheney, and the Iraq war obviously doesn't align with anything he ever wrote or said and as time went on he looked more and more silly.

    • @n.barrett4734
      @n.barrett4734 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      ***** Christopher Hitchens had a bachelor's degree in philosophy, politics and economics. He earned the Lannan Literary Award for Nonfiction, wrote 23 books, many which are still discussed today. He wrote for many newspapers, magazines {national and international}. He was also awarded the LennonOno Grant for Peace, The Orwell Prize {Britain’s most prestigious prize for political writing}, The PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award and others. He sold millions of books. People such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Richard Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss, Salman Rushdie and Stephen Fry all valued his efforts and wisdom. But you, who has a mug shot of a Jew hating bigot to represent yourself has some insight that all of these millions of people don't? Please give a few examples of his "basic historical errors" and how he was "not taken seriously among any scholarly circles. No name calling and back pedaling. Explain up your accusations please. For example what scholarly circles didn't take him seriously? I named a several real scholarly circles that took him quite seriously.

    • @n.barrett4734
      @n.barrett4734 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** So you have no names of people or names of groups. Just vague claims. What quotes did he make up? Name one. What false credentials? For what people? Name one. What persons died from old age? Name one, give any evidence at all please. In regards to MLK: Beating prostitutes after having sex with them using donations isn't very Christian. Also when the FBI follows you around and investigates you.... it can be said that you are "a questionable person". He was also caught plagiarizing. A lot of people claim to be Christian but are not. Based on how you live, that is how you are deemed a Christian. The New York times had stories about him in the late 80's and early 90's explaining this as well as The Journal of American History. If you had any idea on how the USSR was run, then how can religion not have played a part? So you have no sources, no names and no facts. You just post "he did this and that". Why are you asking me "Have you looked up any reviews that disagree with his book?"? You are the one who is making the claims. I posted a lot of sources and names above supporting his writings. If you have no proof or sources, then I can't believe what you're saying.

    • @n.barrett4734
      @n.barrett4734 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *****
      So no facts? No proof of anything? Keep thumbing your bible and spreading hate. Jesus would love that!

    • @n.barrett4734
      @n.barrett4734 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** We aren't talking about the presentation. You made a lot of claims that you can't back up, now you're backing away from all of them. No names, no dates, no proof still? You aren't on the side of God if you spread hate and God says it clearly in the Bible, he "hates a liar". So how are you better than Hitchens? Neither of you are coming back when the earth is remade.

    • @n.barrett4734
      @n.barrett4734 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *****
      So again, you're just telling me that Hitchens is lying. Prove it! When did he say this, to whom and where? If you know this information, share it. if not, you can't be taken seriously. Do you not understand this? Saying someone is a liar is not even close to proving he's a liar. Do you not know this? Give me a date or some sort of evidence that Hitchens said anything you claimed he said. it really just looks like you're the liar after days of prodding you into giving any evidence and you ignoring the requests. Now you thing that rambling on again is somehow proof? Names, dates, places, these things will provide proof and then you will be deemed serious and not a liar.

    I understand the viewpoints of who dropped the ball on Bin Laden and what not, but even back then I get irked when no one would ask "How has US Foreign Policy since the 60s created this issue with these radical groups?"
    I don't believe in the notion that people just wake up one morning out of the blue and hate the USA enough to blow up bombs or fly planes into buildings. I also can believe some use religion to manipulate people into lashing out, but it's always seemingly something done first on our end that brings about these attacks. Like one of those friendly fire accidents that kills innocent people.
    Bin Laden, love him or hate him, wanted US troops out of Saudi Arabia so the country can follow its own path, but Administration after Administration simply kept things as is because they didn't want anything to risk the oil supplies. At that point we could have pulled out and done more here (even drilling on US soil) or forced the Saudi royal family to do something about Bin Laden or risk losing any and all help from the US.
    Like it or not, our continued foreign policy of "meddling" in these countries is what brings about this vitriol and thus the attacks. Here we are, almost 20 years later and not much has changed.

    • @09rja
      @09rja ปีที่แล้ว

      We were largely gone from Saudi Arabia by 9/11. And we were there in the first place because we did something Bin Laden never could have done: kick Saddam out of Kuwait.
      Another factor is Israel. Bin Laden wanted Israel destroyed. We will never abandon Israel because some terrorists want us to. (Whether you want to call that "meddling" or not.)

      +baddheaddCASE It didn't stop Cruz. Canadian born and raised, He didn't even become a US citizen until May 2014!! Canada doesn't ask for the mother's birth certificate. The father was a Cuban immigrant, booted out of there and then they came here, all as immigrants.
      Kind of hypocritical Cruz turned on his own people, after he was elected. He's a frequent guest of the Koch's. Their father a Nazi sympathiser and his Uncle a Russian il man gave Koch's their inheritance. What's with people buying lies from Nazi's, liars and cheats? Now Cruz claims to be a christian? He's done several Filmed videos of actual staged events, with his family..Two takes and he "cries on cue", literally, in each one. Amazing,,laughs later. Cruz is a fraud.

    I always laughed at this show because it was the completely opposite of being politically incorrect. It was politically correct to its core, even right down to practically applauding 9/11.

    Three instructions for being politically incorrect. 1 don't use "radical" when talking about islamic terrorists. 2 don't show an isis flag when talking bad about islam on a video. 3 use don't use the words "radical ultranationists" when talking about prorussians in Ukraine. Hope you have fun breaking the rules xD
