    When I think of this bass, I think of John and George using this during the Let it Be sessions.

    Fender somehow progressed that 6 string (all of them) option into a readily available product for the early years and further.
    The bass 6's were instrumental especially when a guitar player had to sub as a bass player in an emergency situation, as guitarists read primarily from top down while bass players had no such weakness.
    Thanks for this awesome presentation!

    I also have a Vintera II Bass VI in LPB, since Wednesday. But yours has two pickguard screws that mine does not, on either side of the pickup selector.
    Fascinating.

    Id really love to get one of those, and in that colour as well. Its something that id love for my channel, and for one of the bands i play in.

    I like your understated charm, Darren.
    I’ve got a Vintage Modified Bass Six. I’ve tried to make it sound like a regular bass without having any of its parts replaced. I might want parts of it modified, but I’m sticking with it as is for now. It’s been my fretted bass instrument of choice on 9 of the 11 solo albums I’ve made under my real name of Eric Benjamin Gordon (I record other parts with a custom-made fretless).

    Is the quality and playability better in this MIM bass VI compared to the squier version , I was rather disappointed with the squier one 😊

      Well I have the Vintage Modified Squier one, but I had to do a lot of work on it to get it to sound decent - that involved replacing the bridge, swapping the bridge around so that intonation could be adjusted as close as possible, tweaking the truss rod and just generally doing a lot of fiddling with it. The new Fender one is a lot better out of the box.

    I’d been wanting a Bass VI for quite awhile. And I had one in a CME exclusive color (metallic purple) on order when Vintera II rumors started happening in June. I’ve been badgering my Sweetwater sales dude since then, and got a Lake Placid Blue one on Wednesday!
    My particular example needs a set-up; the B string is buzzing from 0 to 21.
    So cool that you started with Wichita Lineman, that solo is what pushed me over the line to buy one. I’m in the Old Town Schools of Folk Music’s 60’s ensemble, and I’ve been doing that solo by using a modeling guitar to lower me an octave. Now I have the real thing.
    Is your pickguard lifting next to the pickup switches? Mine is, due to screws that were on the original, and are on Squier versions, but are missing on ours (and Custom Shop versions), on either side of those switches.
    I ordered Fender screws from StewMac, but then another TH-camr posted a look at this instrument … and his has those screws. So maybe not having the screws is a rare variation! th-cam.com/video/D5iFMobXWcw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dpOY7i-IqpnM6DOJ

      If you go to the Fender website, they are shown without those extra screws… So… 🫤

      @@DarrenLockMusic It’s confusing to say the least. I wonder if Fender realized screws were missing shortly after production began.

      It seems like a design mistake was made and then quickly rectified! 😳

    Does this come with 24 Jumbo Frets, and is this suitable to play in Drop C as a guitar with distortion? Thank you!

    Do these have the intonation issue that the squier version has?

  • @arricat5e311

    Is the bridge wider? If so then I hope they sell them separately one day. You could probably retrofit it with mustang saddles.
    If you go with mustang bridge I'd be interested in buying the old one off you as I struggle to fully intonate my custom VI :(
    Also have you tried Newtone Strings' Bass VI set? It's a bit less slack than the d'addario sets

      You can just drop a completely new bridge into these things. I did it before with my Squier Bass VI.

    • @DavidFell
      @DavidFell 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I also have one, and yes, it’s nicely wide, unlike the Squiers.

    Is this guitar more of a bass or baritone? I tune my baritone to Adgcea.

    • @DarrenLockMusic
      @DarrenLockMusic  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's meant to be a bass for guitarists.

    • @MrChasekennedy

      @DarrenLockMusic so its like my baritone.

    Could you use this as a bass ?

    • @DarrenLockMusic

      Yup! 👍 (Because it is a bass)

      Yes but it isn’t like a P or J bass. Approach it like a guitar
