Another illegal word is "Mayday" in certain contexts. By saying Mayday on VHF Radio or other aeronautical or maritime frequency allocation without the station being in a state of distress, the station will be subject to permanent revocation or radio license and radio operator privileges, will be held liable for a criminal fine of up to $250000, up to 6 years in prison, or both and remuneration for expenses incurred during the rescue operation. These can exceed a million dollars in extensive operations. That means you would need to pay up to 2 million and then maybe also serve 6 years in prison, all for a word spoken on the radio.
This is why when there's an actual mayday call, the word is said three times, to distinguish it from any other message about a mayday.

The "Fire in a crowded theater" thing is often cited as an example because of its use in a Supreme Court case, Schenck vs. U.S. What they don't realize is that the case upheld a conviction of someone for distributing leaflets criticizing the draft in WWI and it has since been overturned. There's no legal precedent to hold that that one word even in that situation is necessarily illegal, HOWEVER, the article you cited does provide one of the rare instances where it can be. Basically, you can shout fire in a crowded theater as much as you want as long as you don't ACTUALLY cause a stampede.

What about saying “Hi Jack!” When you see your friend on the same flight as you. And his name is really jack. Is it illegal?
No, because if you’re saying “Hi, Jack!”, you would say it with a space between the words, an uplifting tone, and perhaps a wave at the person you’re greeting. If you’re saying “Hijack!”, it would be all one word, in a fearful or threatening tone.

It's not illegal to swear in Canada. It wasn't illegal even in 2016. In fact, in 2015, Justin Kukemueller was convicted of causing a disturbance for screaming a litany of vulgarities at police in public who were arresting his girlfriend and father. But his conviction was overturned on appeal, because swearing at police in anger is not a crime.
There are places where swearing is prohibited, like, say, public libraries, or parks in Toronto, but like you said, that's not the same as words being illegal.

Fun Facts about "shouting fire in a crowded theater":
1. As the narrator suggested, it is not illegal per se, in any U.S. state.
2. The example was given by a supreme court justice who wanted to put war protestors in prison for protesting in the early 20th century. This precedent has been more or less eviscerated since then.
The Biden junta invented pretexts to imprison its enemies.
