I feel heartfelt and downtrodden, because of the passing of this man. The first book, i ever read was Face, i liked the book, because i was partially able to relate to the main character/protagonist in the story. The man is deceased, but his works live on, to inspire a new generation of readers. R.I.P Benjamin Zaphaniah, a true legend of British literature
He was just beautiful. I met him a few times when he came into schools in South London. He was just the kindest man , incredible with children. So special
I met Benjamin 2 years ago at vegfest. Such a talented compassionate shinning star. He was an amazing animal rights activist and of course as such a compassionare caring person he was a vegan.
@RobertTaylor-gz2fu . So what? With all due respect, many people have broken the law & come through it to rise to glory & to benefit mankind. Mr Zephaniah was such a person. He made many in Birmingham Myself included very proud 👏.
The little guy with his hands on his heart ( 3 minutes in ) makes me cry; he will never forget the moment he met Benjamin Zephaniah. Perhaps the poet in him is stirring.
They talk about the 'American Dream', well you my friend represent the 'British Dream' . That we can all aspire to better ourselves and help and care for others. R.I.P.
@auroraborealis, I’m aware he went to prison and that he beat his gf (my reply says that). However, he did not beat a pregnant woman breaking her bones and go to prison as a result. Those statements continue to remain blatantly false!
@@auroraborealis-zm1or he did his time for his petty crimes. Feels like something else is really bothering you about him, I wonder what? The rest of his life far outweighed what he did as a youth.
@@auroraborealis-zm1or white poets? You seem to be quite agitated and insistent on repeating that he went to prison multiple times. Calm down and use your real name if you’re that brave!

@@fay-amieaspen6046 He blamed all his problems on racism. How could that have made him a burglar & rioter?

Replacing "peace" with "power" is probably one of the most disturbing modern perspectives.
introduction remarks sound so beautiful

All you need to know is that he was an actor.
No. All you need to know is that Benjamin Zephaniah was a vegan.❤
@@berniv7375 Did it kill him?
Who?
Alf Garnett
He was a fan of Jeremy Corbyn. That says enough about him for me....
British school kids wouldn't understand Jamaican patoa or accent though, RIP though bro
????
As a British kid that grew up on a very multicultural street in the 80s/90s I have to disagree.

"brain tumor diagnosis" 🙄
I hadn't thought of that, too right!
This is the man who battered his pregnant, girlfriend so viciously that he broke her bones. He was arrested and imprisoned for it.
He admitted to hitting a girlfriend twice but your story of battering a pregnant girl and going to prison is blatantly false!

Such a shame, but twisted in some of his views, still a good man.
