Why can't Hi-Rez just unionize for them then? That would mean that they could not have community members, casters, new and old (non-union) voice actors like even Lore Lady do work for Smite anymore as they're all non-union. To unionize fully would be an undertaking and have huge costs for the company as well. It's also a huge blanket statement to say that all union members are 100% better off. You may have heard that there are union actors that do work under a different name for projects, but this is a risk for them to get blacklisted and would be impossible to do for something like this Avatar battle pass as they are very well known. Grey DeLisle in a tweet regarding the Smite BP said she doesn't work non-union. Because of this, the agent knew the project was impossible so they didn't bother to let Grey know about it.

Athena is usually depicted with darker-colored hair, and being the Greek goddess of War, I feel she would purposely have black/dark brunette hair to appear more regal. Aphrodite I can somewhat see, but any other Greek goddess? Definitely not. Also, Athena’s voice fits her so much more now just based on her appearance and lore. I’m not familiar with Greek accents, so I can’t comment on the accuracy there. Her model has a lot more details going on (most noticeably the shield for me), and the helmet looks better on Athena than that tiara...? It’s almost like she’s also the Greek Goddess of War, and not just a 👸 on Mount Olympus..? Her facial structure no longer looks like a middle-aged woman overdosing on Botox.

I kinda disagree on Persephone. Sure her numbers are busted, but overall? It got so simplified, it removes the charm she had when 1 played her. And honestly? This whole rework feels like made for players who don't like playing against her and those who couldn't be bothered to learn her. For the actual players who did play her this feels like a gutting and once her numbers are properly adjusted...there's not gonna be much reason to pick her when similar mages to her just does what she does much better. Shame really, I really enjoyed her as she was and actually properly using her felt satisfying.
Exactly. Hearing pon talk about planning ahead with her new passive will be key felt like a slap in the face. Planning ahead was the whole point of persephone's entire kit but the majority of players failed to learn or understand that. What makes them think this will change? Her flowers look like a complete joke now. Her safety net against getting ganked is gone. Her ult which was supposed to be the strongest cc in the game by design got sheared. Her 1 which I know was difficult to aim when pressured, was an amazing form of clear and set up. Now it's quite garbage at both. This is Persephone for dummies, and when the numbers come back showing similar results or less play time. It won't be difficult to figure out why.

You can only have 7 flowers up at the same time, so if you put down 6 while in passive and use 2 again while alive, gg, your flowers are gone. Sure, she's easy now to play even by newbies and now people can fight against her so much easier without much thinking, but I'm not sure how this supposed to be fun or even good.

On the Set nerfs, I do recall people taking issue with Set diving towers in the earlygame. It didn't occur to me until I re-read the patch notes that, because he has access to 15% physical mitigation, he can totally eat tower shots better than most other gods save like, Ravana. Granted, if you're getting tower dove around lv3-ish, you probably have more problems than the Set's mitigations, but this change will _definitely_ be noticeable for Set players if they make a habit of teleporting into tower lines.
I think the Athena rework looks and sounds great! I like that they made her look more like Athena Parthenos with her helmet. I’m especially happy with her new voice pack.
Warding sigil is a pretty fun item to build tbh. It’s just a pure tank item and I have had situations where it’s upgrades have made me a dominant bruiser. I like it as an item. Bluestone being dominant is IMO not that big of a deal. There is always going to be a dominant set of starters and the ones that give damage and sustain like bluestone does will always be good. They would have to make bluestone pretty much useless to take it out of meta.
The thing with Azula is that you can't just get a random voice actress. The original one's voice is literally made for Azula, her whole lore. Without the actual voice, her skin gets kinda cheap but we will see.

I honestly think Apollo's Passive should have a sound que when it procs. Every god in Smite with an attack speed steroid ability has some form or initial sound que which lets you expect faster attacks. The only que you get from Apollo's steroid is 5 basic attacks in your face!
That earlier leak about Pers rework made me think they were removing her bulb explosion entirely and it also didn't say she could choose the direction of her flowers. I was thinking the rework would be utter shite, but now it seems a bit more interesting. The nerf on her ult still makes me mad tho, how come people think her ult is overtuned? If the enemy hunter is smart he will destroy the vines quickly, it is meant to be a team fight ult, yet you just use it to damage 1 target as the cage gets melted in less than a second.
The problem most people have with her ult is that she can completely miss and still have it be effective. And as a hunter walking up to her out to break your teammate out is a death sentence.
Didn’t they just change sundering axe to stop mages from rushing it at the end of a build and dealing % health damage to tanks? And now manikin hidden blade deals over double the % health proc that sundering axe was doing? Obviously hidden blade isn’t restoring that health to the mage, but it’s got power now and physical prots to help out with survivability. Anyone else see a problem with that?

Bumbas Spear having a passive that stacks on getting objectives like fire and towers. i feel like it would be better and suit the point of the item more. Item helps you get objectives, item rewards you for getting objectives. It would be super snowbally, but isn't that the point of an objective killing item?
It only reduces abilities by 1s. Maybe reduce the true damage to 50. It won't be as bursty of an item. Keep the % Pen All they needed to do was buff other jungle items by an actual good amount. They keep shoving these starter item upgrades into the ground and are making them almost unimportant. Lots of people skip their starters still and some don't even buy them at level 17 or 20. Or simply sell them. Quite frankly can we get a separate slot for starter items and keep our core 6 slots for all the other items.

This patch was pretty dang big! The Athena remodel is to die for! I personally think the Perse rework is for the better as it looks much less difficult to play against. My only gripe is that the new plant mechanics feel too similar to Ah Puch's 1 IE "charging circle ability". Her new 1 is also relatively similar to Undead Surge as well, kinda like a baby version of his 1 but also better for clear. I dunno, kinda weird, hopefully Ah Puch is up next on the reworking block. I'd like to see him shifted more towards a solo lane/ bruiser mage Zhong style character. As for item and god balance, did Magus really need a buff? I guess yea it is to differentiate it from Deso now, but still. Shell nerf, ehhhh kinda mixed on. As a tank player me no likey seeing as it is less effective against aa gods, but on the other hand it really was too potent to be able to spread out multiple block stacks if played correctly. Not a fan of the Baka buffs because I simply dislike Baka. His 2 is just so cheesy of an ability. I like the Chiron buff a lot, and I don't even play him! The rest is pretty good, no other comments.

Before: A garden you could strategically plant to protect yourself from ganks, secure objectives or achieve lane pressure. Now: A few centralized minions that do little to no damage and 0 cc potential. She is trash, pure gutted trash now. They even said it themselves in the patch notes. They didn’t gather any significant data on the opinions of Persephone players. They just alienated all players who mastered her and won’t get anyone else to play her either since she is just a run of the mill mage with nothing unique or notable about her. There are much better options for the average brain dead Smite player still.
Wind Demon was super over-statted. I don't know that we can say it wasn't a problem, junglers have been using it for a while on gods that should not be going crit. I think it was going to be a real problem with bruiser items getting nerfed. Wish they would have just removed the pen, and agreed gilded arrow is an issue.
Really happy about the Apollo ult nerf, as it was way too easy to stay in air forever and troll. The passiv nerf/revert is a shame tho, as I finally feel like his passiv exists, but if he really is so strong then I guess it is warranted
No he got nerfed because of his win rate and for the ult its more about u just need to push leave with ur ult while Ur mates fight at FG and come help in a 4v5
I like the idea of a super high skill ceiling Persephone, I'm not big on the idea of dumbing down her kit so newer/lower skill players can make more use of her. Having some gods that take more skill/practice to utilize effectively isn't a bad thing. Gods like Persephone that become more viable as the skill increases is kind of the opposite of how some gods can pubstomp at lower skill levels, but aren't viable in top/pro level games.
@@childoficarus5334 but they didn't NEED to lower her floor. Not every god needs to be someone every player can pick up easily. Pretty much every other god in the game can be picked up and used pretty well after only a game or two. Hard gods are good for a game because they pose a challenge that makes the gamers step up, and rewards those who put in the work to utilize them effectively. If someone isn't instantly good with Persephone and doesn't want to practice to improve, that's fine, there are over 100 other gods that they can pick up quickly.
@@mackledackle i disagree, everyone should be able to whatever god they want with next to no training, by having a high skill ceiling, you open up an avenue for people that truly enjoy the god to learn something new that only they can. simplest example i can think of is AA cancels, you can still 100% play susano without them, but you aren't doing your max dmg.
@@childoficarus5334 Ullr, Yemoja, Heimdallr, and Morrigan all have harder kits/mechanics and lower ranked gamers have noticeably lower win rates with those gods than higher ranked ones. I guess those gods all need reworks to make them easy for new/low ranked players too. Maybe we remove Ullr's stance switch, replace heim's 3 with a line dash and take away his aa chain, yemoja can have mana and normal cooldowns, and morrigan gets a long range high damage line attack for her ult and a leap that does damage for her 3.

I saw the Persephone rework part of the patch notes show and am happy with the changes. I do think that it will make her more accessible to more players and simplify her kit. I am still unclear on how the plants do the damage when they are moving, particularly if they attack everything in the area they move through or just one target because it was unclear. With the patches it seems like some good changes overall to the items and gods, hopefully I can get Anhur to Diamond before the changes.
@@newfieldcharlotte324 She was only good for top tier players and no one else. That's an example of bad design. Making it so more people can enjoy playing her is a good thing. She will still require planning ahead but will not suffer as much if she can't. Also players will actually have to work to get her plants to work not just wait, leap away, and let the AI do the job for you.

TL;DR - Prepatch Athena is actually correct to mythology 😂. She was yellow haired, with flashing blueish-grey eyes. Her accent really is the only Greek God’s that replicates the musical nature of Ancient Greek. It is crazy how all these players think this is an improvement to her in making her “more accurate” when it is really fulfilling modern stereotypes of Greeks rather than replicating the way she was described in Ancient Greek literature. 🤪 In Ancient Greek Athena has (ξάνθη) ‘xánthe’ meaning “Yellow” since Demeter (goddess of the harvest) also has this color hair, it may be a flaxen a pale yellow, or a reddish yellow what we might call strawberry blonde. This is also the color of a couple of Ancient Greek mortals so it is safe to suspect it was closer to the natural variation in the modern Greek population. This is unlike Apollo, Dionysus, Eros, and possibly Aphrodite who have (χρῡ́σειος) ‘khrū́seios’ which would be “golden” hair. This “golden” was likely a more intense yellow possibly even luminous. Before you go thinking all the Gods are blondes. Zeus had hair like a thundercloud, so black. His brothers, Hades and Poseidon, had (κύανος) ‘kúanos’ this word kind of meant blue or grey. Which is very interesting, because in the minds of Ancient Greeks black and white past through blue, a dark enough blue became the night sky and a pale blue became white like clouds and the sea foam. Many c and d tier characters can't be changed without breaking Smite's other modes. The worst examples being Ah Puch and Zeus who can terrorise non-conquest modes but are terrible in conquest.

Hi Rez does emphasise conquest balance but they can't ignore the concerns of players of other modes as that is a huge portion of the player base and, therefore, a huge source of income.

I like the remodel too, although she is often translated to being "fair-haired" in the Iliad and the Odyssey.

I kinda disagree on Persephone. Sure her numbers are busted, but overall? It got so simplified, it removes the charm she had when 1 played her.
And honestly? This whole rework feels like made for players who don't like playing against her and those who couldn't be bothered to learn her. For the actual players who did play her this feels like a gutting and once her numbers are properly adjusted...there's not gonna be much reason to pick her when similar mages to her just does what she does much better.
Shame really, I really enjoyed her as she was and actually properly using her felt satisfying.
Exactly. Hearing pon talk about planning ahead with her new passive will be key felt like a slap in the face. Planning ahead was the whole point of persephone's entire kit but the majority of players failed to learn or understand that. What makes them think this will change?
Her flowers look like a complete joke now. Her safety net against getting ganked is gone. Her ult which was supposed to be the strongest cc in the game by design got sheared. Her 1 which I know was difficult to aim when pressured, was an amazing form of clear and set up. Now it's quite garbage at both. This is Persephone for dummies, and when the numbers come back showing similar results or less play time. It won't be difficult to figure out why.
@@JustAnotherAlex You can't even plan much with the passive, because the numbers are much more limited. You can only have 7 flowers up at the same time, so if you put down 6 while in passive and use 2 again while alive, gg, your flowers are gone.
Yeah, now she's even easier to actually gank, considering she also has a worse waveclear that sup can easily bodyblock.
I'm afraid this might backfire. Sure, she's easy now to play even by newbies and now people can fight against her so much easier without much thinking, but I'm not sure how this supposed to be fun or even good.

On the Set nerfs, I do recall people taking issue with Set diving towers in the earlygame. It didn't occur to me until I re-read the patch notes that, because he has access to 15% physical mitigation, he can totally eat tower shots better than most other gods save like, Ravana.
Granted, if you're getting tower dove around lv3-ish, you probably have more problems than the Set's mitigations, but this change will _definitely_ be noticeable for Set players if they make a habit of teleporting into tower lines.
So after the patch, what would you consider building on Awilix? Bumbas Hammer or Spear?

I think the Athena rework looks and sounds great! I like that they made her look more like Athena Parthenos with her helmet. I’m especially happy with her new voice pack.
Warding sigil is a pretty fun item to build tbh. It’s just a pure tank item and I have had situations where it’s upgrades have made me a dominant bruiser. I like it as an item. Bluestone being dominant is IMO not that big of a deal. There is always going to be a dominant set of starters and the ones that give damage and sustain like bluestone does will always be good. They would have to make bluestone pretty much useless to take it out of meta.
Seer of the jungle sounds like a support item rather then a jungles still rip
The thing with Azula is that you can't just get a random voice actress. The original one's voice is literally made for Azula, her whole lore. Without the actual voice, her skin gets kinda cheap but we will see.

I honestly think Apollo's Passive should have a sound que when it procs.
Every god in Smite with an attack speed steroid ability has some form or initial sound que which lets you expect faster attacks.
The only que you get from Apollo's steroid is 5 basic attacks in your face!
That earlier leak about Pers rework made me think they were removing her bulb explosion entirely and it also didn't say she could choose the direction of her flowers. I was thinking the rework would be utter shite, but now it seems a bit more interesting. The nerf on her ult still makes me mad tho, how come people think her ult is overtuned? If the enemy hunter is smart he will destroy the vines quickly, it is meant to be a team fight ult, yet you just use it to damage 1 target as the cage gets melted in less than a second.
The problem most people have with her ult is that she can completely miss and still have it be effective. And as a hunter walking up to her out to break your teammate out is a death sentence.

Didn’t they just change sundering axe to stop mages from rushing it at the end of a build and dealing % health damage to tanks? And now manikin hidden blade deals over double the % health proc that sundering axe was doing? Obviously hidden blade isn’t restoring that health to the mage, but it’s got power now and physical prots to help out with survivability. Anyone else see a problem with that?

Bumbas Spear having a passive that stacks on getting objectives like fire and towers. i feel like it would be better and suit the point of the item more. Item helps you get objectives, item rewards you for getting objectives. It would be super snowbally, but isn't that the point of an objective killing item?

All they needed to do was buff other jungle items by an actual good amount.
They keep shoving these starter item upgrades into the ground and are making them almost unimportant. Lots of people skip their starters still and some don't even buy them at level 17 or 20.
Or simply sell them.
Quite frankly can we get a separate slot for starter items and keep our core 6 slots for all the other items.

This patch was pretty dang big! The Athena remodel is to die for!
I personally think the Perse rework is for the better as it looks much less difficult to play against. My only gripe is that the new plant mechanics feel too similar to Ah Puch's 1 IE "charging circle ability". Her new 1 is also relatively similar to Undead Surge as well, kinda like a baby version of his 1 but also better for clear. I dunno, kinda weird, hopefully Ah Puch is up next on the reworking block. I'd like to see him shifted more towards a solo lane/ bruiser mage Zhong style character.
As for item and god balance, did Magus really need a buff? I guess yea it is to differentiate it from Deso now, but still.
Shell nerf, ehhhh kinda mixed on. As a tank player me no likey seeing as it is less effective against aa gods, but on the other hand it really was too potent to be able to spread out multiple block stacks if played correctly.
Not a fan of the Baka buffs because I simply dislike Baka. His 2 is just so cheesy of an ability.
I like the Chiron buff a lot, and I don't even play him!

They even said it themselves in the patch notes. They didn’t gather any significant data on the opinions of Persephone players. They just alienated all players who mastered her and won’t get anyone else to play her either since she is just a run of the mill mage with nothing unique or notable about her.
There are much better options for the average brain dead Smite player still.

Wind Demon was super over-statted. I don't know that we can say it wasn't a problem, junglers have been using it for a while on gods that should not be going crit. I think it was going to be a real problem with bruiser items getting nerfed.
Wish they would have just removed the pen, and agreed gilded arrow is an issue.
It would be less of a problem cause people would be building more full defense items. Gilded isn't really a problem, just gives more farm.

Really happy about the Apollo ult nerf, as it was way too easy to stay in air forever and troll. The passiv nerf/revert is a shame tho, as I finally feel like his passiv exists, but if he really is so strong then I guess it is warranted

I like the idea of a super high skill ceiling Persephone, I'm not big on the idea of dumbing down her kit so newer/lower skill players can make more use of her. Having some gods that take more skill/practice to utilize effectively isn't a bad thing. Gods like Persephone that become more viable as the skill increases is kind of the opposite of how some gods can pubstomp at lower skill levels, but aren't viable in top/pro level games.
i do wish they hadnt lowered her ceiling so much, but the needed to lower her floor, which they did, so im happy with it
@@childoficarus5334 but they didn't NEED to lower her floor. Not every god needs to be someone every player can pick up easily. Pretty much every other god in the game can be picked up and used pretty well after only a game or two. Hard gods are good for a game because they pose a challenge that makes the gamers step up, and rewards those who put in the work to utilize them effectively. If someone isn't instantly good with Persephone and doesn't want to practice to improve, that's fine, there are over 100 other gods that they can pick up quickly.
@@mackledackle i disagree, everyone should be able to whatever god they want with next to no training, by having a high skill ceiling, you open up an avenue for people that truly enjoy the god to learn something new that only they can. simplest example i can think of is AA cancels, you can still 100% play susano without them, but you aren't doing your max dmg.
@@childoficarus5334 Ullr, Yemoja, Heimdallr, and Morrigan all have harder kits/mechanics and lower ranked gamers have noticeably lower win rates with those gods than higher ranked ones. I guess those gods all need reworks to make them easy for new/low ranked players too. Maybe we remove Ullr's stance switch, replace heim's 3 with a line dash and take away his aa chain, yemoja can have mana and normal cooldowns, and morrigan gets a long range high damage line attack for her ult and a leap that does damage for her 3.

I saw the Persephone rework part of the patch notes show and am happy with the changes. I do think that it will make her more accessible to more players and simplify her kit. I am still unclear on how the plants do the damage when they are moving, particularly if they attack everything in the area they move through or just one target because it was unclear. With the patches it seems like some good changes overall to the items and gods, hopefully I can get Anhur to Diamond before the changes.

@@newfieldcharlotte324 She was only good for top tier players and no one else. That's an example of bad design. Making it so more people can enjoy playing her is a good thing. She will still require planning ahead but will not suffer as much if she can't. Also players will actually have to work to get her plants to work not just wait, leap away, and let the AI do the job for you.

She is not for top Tier players she was for people who has brains bigger then the size of a pea. Now she is an Ah Puch copy fashioned for the general brain damaged e-boy trash of Smite.

TL;DR - Prepatch Athena is actually correct to mythology 😂. She was yellow haired, with flashing blueish-grey eyes. Her accent really is the only Greek God’s that replicates the musical nature of Ancient Greek.
It is crazy how all these players think this is an improvement to her in making her “more accurate” when it is really fulfilling modern stereotypes of Greeks rather than replicating the way she was described in Ancient Greek literature. 🤪
In Ancient Greek Athena has (ξάνθη) ‘xánthe’ meaning “Yellow” since Demeter (goddess of the harvest) also has this color hair, it may be a flaxen a pale yellow, or a reddish yellow what we might call strawberry blonde. This is also the color of a couple of Ancient Greek mortals so it is safe to suspect it was closer to the natural variation in the modern Greek population. This is unlike Apollo, Dionysus, Eros, and possibly Aphrodite who have (χρῡ́σειος) ‘khrū́seios’ which would be “golden” hair. This “golden” was likely a more intense yellow possibly even luminous. Before you go thinking all the Gods are blondes. Zeus had hair like a thundercloud, so black. His brothers, Hades and Poseidon, had (κύανος) ‘kúanos’ this word kind of meant blue or grey. Which is very interesting, because in the minds of Ancient Greeks black and white past through blue, a dark enough blue became the night sky and a pale blue became white like clouds and the sea foam. So for Hades it likely is an allusion to the grey hair of old people (who do tend to die), but the color of the sea for Poseidon. Ares is usually covered in red blood but his hair is not made distinct from the red blood, so likely we have a ginger god of war. While a modern Mediterranean look is thought to be swarthy and black haired, the Greeks themselves described theirs and other local populations as having black, red, and yellow hair.
It is possible that they didn’t mean the quite the sometimes nearly white blonde of the Nordic peoples, but perhaps they did, remember for nearly 400 years the Ottomans ruled Greece. Now, the Empire had a tendency to lump the Slavs and Jews (fleeing Spanish oppression) with the local Greeks. Additionally, the Arabs had a tradition of of “breeding out” non-Muslims, which in the most extreme cases became active genocides.
Athena is interesting in that she also had *GRAY* eyes (insert joke about Stark Lannister love child). This gray-eyedness is (γλαυκῶπις) ‘glaukôpis’ meaning and denotes a flashing blue gray, like light reflecting off the sea to near white, or possibly like fire light in the eyes of an owl at night.
A Modern Greek accent sounds a little like a French accent but without the nasals and all the fluid vowels. It has stressed syllables and sounds about like a Russian speaking French. Ancient Greek on the other hand has a lyrical or musical quality as it changed tones instead accents. In short if Ancient Greek god had just learned English it would sound like Athena’s voice pack before this patch. 🤓

Many c and d tier characters can't be changed without breaking Smite's other modes. The worst examples being Ah Puch and Zeus who can terrorise non-conquest modes but are terrible in conquest.

Hi Rez does emphasise conquest balance but they can't ignore the concerns of players of other modes as that is a huge portion of the player base and, therefore, a huge source of income.

And a possibility that with all the less-than chickenshit anti-trans laws that is going on in most the south (not sure on Georgia though), it is a possibility that Hi-Rez is doing that to protest those laws (weather in the state of Georgia (Hi-Rez being based in Atlanta), or not), hell I even heard that Gearbox is considering hauling ass out of Texas if the anti-trans laws there are passed.

Bruh wtf on the Gil one lmao. They were portrayed as inseprable best friends and had fun fighting each other and monsters. Even when he died the poem depicted Gil saying "there will be no other who will claim the spot of friend that you hold". If there was of romance he could have clearly displayed it in the poem but it wasn't as such. Man LGBT agenda pushing over stuff that has nothing to do with them
Probably the only thing i find annoying sometimes about people when it comes to 2 characters/people being close to each other is that it always gets treated as romantic love. Even though there are other ways of loving and being close to people. This goes for any relationship between 2 characters regardless of being gay or not.
