Personally I prefer the Carnival all inclusive experience and agree that the P&O ships are more spacious and nicer decor than Carnival, in particular Splendor.
Bring it on Carnival. The P&O tightarse experience has well and truly worn thin. Your Splendor tub needs to offer some longer cruises, though. PNG/Soloman Is from Sydney would be a sell-out every time!
Keep it simple. If they're Carnivalising P&O then experience & inclusions across all ships in same region should be the same or as similar as possible.
First time on P&O this year our group of 16 really disliked it and preferred Carnival. I think it needs to change to a carnival product in terms of staff friendliness, complimentary food options, MDR, funship 2.0 options and change the buffet.
Love the carnival inclusive brand I so hope they follow through with this on the P&O ships. I felt like everything on P&O was an extra with kids that really adds up! Carnival was awesome for kids with free ice cream and pizzas!
It makes total sense to have all cruise ships under the Carnival brand to have identical experiences, including good choices. The last thing that Carnival would won't yo of is fragment its cruise ships based on quality of services.
I would definitely like to see some of the Carnival features on the P&O ships. We love our late night pizza, for example. However, we really like the P&O offerings of the shorter themed cruises. I would like to see these retained. I can see the benefit of both fully Carnivalising the P&O ships for consistency but also keeping the P&O experience for choice. P&O and Carnival do offer different experiences and both have their own following so keeping both experiences would allow passengers to have that variety. I guess time will tell. At the end of the day a cruise is a cruise. Rob and Ali.
Totally agree. It will be very interesting to see how the two cruise concepts merge (or don't...) next year. I'm curious to see what Carnival has in store.
im my humble opinion if there branded carnival then they should be the same as every other carnival ship. i agree that it would be so confusing having 2 different operational models under the same banner . thankyou for another food for thought video 🙂
My brother and his family will be sailing on Adventure after the changeover around this time next year. I prefer Carnival and probably wouldn't book on Adventure or Encounter if it's just a new paint job and logo on the P&O experience.
Hi went no a 4 day cruise to Moreton Bay with P&O last week this is not my first time with them and quite like it. This time everything was a bit off, including the food and service. they ran out of New Zealand ice cream the day after we left Sydney. The Staff in the restaurant some were just not the usual service we have come to expect. I could not even get for the first time boiled eggs for breakfast. one can only hope that once the change over is finalised things will improve or return to normal.
We went to Vanuatu in september and share this sentiment, we have been on many P&O cruises and this one felt off, no fried eggs in the pantry, ice cream ran out towards the end, you constantly had to flag the wait staff in the main dining room, the water slide was closed more often than not including the last sea day back when the edge was still open so don't even try to say it was weather related. We also caught the bar staff giving half nips in mixers.... overall the service and experience was quite lacking.
My wife and I just returned from our first cruise aboard P&O-5day and thoroughly enjoyed it. We just placed a deposit on another P&O cruise next year under Carnival. Watching your video was an eye opener as we found the food/service etc to be amazing already but if Carnival chooses to add those other inclusions then AWESOME !!
As someone who has travelled with both P&O and Carnival recently I’d like to see all 4 ships have the full carnival experience and changing Luke’s burger bar to Guys Burgers onboard (as an example) Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter and to me have 4 ships with 2 different cruise experiences doesn’t really make sense like why rebrand Adventure and Encounter to the carnival livery and then change nothing shouldn’t they be the same as Splendour? And the majority of the carnival fleet sail from North America and I’d expect a similar experience on one of those ships that I have had on Carnival Splendour
Hey Adrian, congratulations on the channel, you are a great source of information and knowledge. Do you or anyone else here know what’s happening in regards to on board consistency/differences as of March? We’ve booked Encounter for the ‘80’s themed cruise departing Brisbane 29th March. Have spoken with the call centre today and all they can say is the change over is happening sometime in March and not sure whether P&O or Carnival products/services/drinks packages will be offered. Any knowledge of this? Thanks again.
Hi Adrian Et Al. I would love to see all the included things on Carnival carried over to Encounter and Adventure. As well see the Best of P.and O. such as Blanc de Blanc carried over to Carnival Luminosa and Splendor. The Included Ice Cream and Pizza on Carnival onto Encounter and Adventure would be great. Why not combine the Best of Both and make Cruising in Oz a Truly Unique experience. I have now Cruised on Luminosa which I Loved and Encounter. Very different experiences. Regards David.
A blended “Aussie’fied” Carnival experience would be an idea! I think that would be an interesting approach… I don’t know if the head boffins would be so brave though.
Hi Adrian, very interesting update and speculation. For me, both brands are good but I prefer more aspects all inclusive, so my vote goes to Carnival, but as a Melbourne resident I feel disappointed that we don’t have more ships based here, on the other hand with our Victorian government the way it is, it’s not surprising cruise companies don’t want to come here.
Tiered cruise cost packages at the outset are superior to an extras costing. It can be confusing if you're not sure what is and what isn't included once sailing.
I recently decided to book my first cruise and was choosing between carnival, p&o and royal, the price alone took royal out however it was the pay for all the extras that took p&o out, once I added all the extras, mind you some I couldn’t at time of booking like ice cream, it came to the same cost as carnival anyway, or at least close enough to justify carnival while I hear great things about the space on board the p&o ships unless they do include more of a carnival experience without having to pay extra ill unlikely sail on them and its not like any of them will be home porting near me so even saving on flights isn’t an option to get me to chose something different (after the take over that is)
Totally agree that the value proposition of P&O diminishes once you start to realise how many things onboard cost extra. For those that don't want ice cream, or a poolside snack, or eggs Benedict at breakfast, or a side of chips at lunch, they might be better off with P&O from a cost perspective.
Sailing on Carnival Encounter to Singapore Feb 2026 for her dry dock, board again for return back to Brisbane. Will have a good indication of what was done visibly at any rate. Hope they don’t change too much decor wise on either sister ships of Encounter/Adventure, like them just the way they are. 👍😊 However the all inclusive Carnival experience of burgers or a late night pizza run would be a definite bonus
Would love to see the all inclusiveness on all 4 ships and have all four with similar outlets such as guys burgers… Personally I’ll be waiting to see what adventure and encounter get before booking
I was just looking at P&O cruises for after Carnival takes over in 2025, and was wondering if they will adopt Carnival's one fare for everything. Travelled on Splendor in Sept (1st Cruise ever!!) and loved it. Thats why I am looking to continue cruising next year. Love your videos and all that you do for the Cruise industry.
We chose P&O because of the ship. For us in Brisbane, there is only 1 pool and no slides for the kids on the Luminosa. Plus, it doesn't sail all year round, and we prefer to sail in the off peak season, where cyclones and storms are less likely. So, to have the better ship with the carnival incisions would be perfect! BUT I'm waiting to see what happens. We have 2 cruises booked after the change and 1 of them is already being changed on us. They let us book the 8 berth suite cabins, but I've now been told we can't have them because they are changing those rooms. And the substitute being offered is a lower category (mini suite V full suite). So, if they are changing the configuration of these rooms, what else will they be changing? No Byron area maybe? Less inclusions in the higher grade rooms? Makes you wonder........
Definitely lots to think about, and I also wonder what will happen with unique spaces like the BB Club that are very ship-specific offerings… let’s see what happens.
I would love it to change I love Encounter &Adventure layout ect great pool spreads kids out better, but no adult spa and the pool is fizzing even in summer even my 11 yr old loves p&o better but said food is way better on Carnival . But hope they keep the edge as that keeps the kids more entertained too.
It will be interesting to see what remains... this latest comment from Carnival is contradictory to its mainstream communications on the subject, so who knows haha.
Thank you for the update. I really hope they make them just Carnival as I’ve found it to be a more inclusive experience compared to P&O. I was actually exited when the announcement was made and then slightly disappointed when it was said that it would still be the P&O experience.
The mixed messaging from P&O/Carnival has been strange. Makes me wonder if they’re even set on what changes (if any) they’re bringing in once the P&O brand has dissolved.
I do like the carnival experience better. The worst thing we experienced on the Adventure is the beds. Extremely squeaky during the night when using the bunks.
Would like to see Carnival keep P&O's drinks packages criteria (individual not cabin & coffee inclusion). Other than that by all means bring over the Carnival inclusions
The P&O experience for us is blocked plumbing and overflowing toilets across the ship. Sadly not one time, but 3 - so if Carnival could take care of that first, that would be great. But even the luminosa doesnt have the full carnival experience - as it doesnt have guys burger bar etc - it has weird copies of them.
I would love the full carnival experience on the p&O ships. but in saying that if they add the iconic whale tale that carnival has on the p&O ship based in Sydney it most likely wont fit under the harbour bridge.
EIther keep P&O in tact (Fully operational and left to cruise as is) OR go full Carnival on all ships, its going to be to confusing having to check not only the dates for your cruise but also the ship..
Adrain, is there any news on the NEXT Disney ship 🚢 to come down under? We went on the Disney Wonder last year & it was fantastic. Eagerly looking forward to the next Disney ship to come to Oz. In the meantime we’re off on the Quantum of Seas soon.
No word yet, unfortunately! It looks like Wonder will be the only ship coming to Australia for the short-medium term. Enjoy your Quantum of the Seas cruise.
On a slightly different topic, could you do a video on which ports remain closed and when they are likely to open? We love isle of pines for example, but are unsure when it will be open for cruise ships again. Thanks, love the videos otherwise!
Great suggestion, thanks! It’s difficult to find information on that topic because the ports in question are internationally governed, and let’s just say… it’s not easy finding clear information. I don’t think Isle of Pines will reopen to cruise visits anytime soon unfortunately, if at all…
you know that if they go with carnival inclusions travel prices for those two ships will go up - some of us can restrain ourselves and have an all inclusive trip on the P&O ships as they operate currently
There will likely be a price increase. I did make a video about a year ago maybe, comparing two identical cruises at a similar time of year on P&O and Princess. Princess included a beverage package, internet, medallion tech, newer ship, much more included dining and the pricing wasn’t too different. It presented much better value. I’ve learned that some people default to P&O because they assume it’s better value, but it’s not always the case. And of course it depends on each person’s circumstances and how they like to cruise but there are definitely times when a cruise on the “budget” line will cost more than on a more premium line.
I did like Pacific Adventure, now Carnival Adventure, in terms of the hard product. The has a good layout, easy for my mobility challenged partner to get around, and I like the muted design style. I didn't like the soft P&O product, which was enough to stop us considering P&O for future cruises, prior to the Carnival 'take over'. The full inclusive, and dancing waitstaff even, on board Carnival Adventure would certainly make a lovely and potentially more enjoyable 'budget' cruise experience. I'm guessing there might be contractual or logistical reasons why this isn't on offer at this stage, such as whatever contract they have with Luke Mangan's company, or NZ Ice Cream, for example.
Was thinking the same re contracted arrangements with suppliers and in the case of Luke Mangan, chefs! I would ideally love to see a blend of the two products. Let’s see what next year brings… 🤔
I much prefer P&O - especially the Byron Beach Club with its separate pool area and breakfast at Angelos. I have 3 booked ( pre the change notification) in BBC and will be extremely unhappy if any if these inclusions are reduced! The Luminosa was a poor comparison for comfort and ship layout. With not enough quiet relaxing spaces. I can see how people would like the extras such as the included ice cream and pizza etc - particularly those traveling with children.
Yeah I think that would ultimately be the goal - I was curious about their plans when they first announced the change. They were very adamant the P&O experience would continue as is but based on this new statement, if you can call it that, I imagine they might be aiming to provide a more holistic, singular experience going forward…
P&O doesn’t have a loyalty program, but your cruises with P&O have contributed to your status with Princess Cruises. We’ve been told that once the conversion to Carnival is complete, you’ll be starting from scratch with Carnival’s loyalty program called VIFP once you take your first Carnival cruise. Your Princess loyalty status remains as is, completely separate to Carnival’s VIFP.
I've never been on a Carnival-branded cruise, but I have to say, I do love inclusions (like Princess did), rather than nickel and diming everything. Willing to pay more too. How much more? Mmmm....the big question!
Good point! I did a comparison video a year or so ago, comparing P&O and Princess for a short cruise, and at that time, Princess came out on top with an included drinks package, internet and all of the included dining venues. It’s probably not quite the case anymore, but once extra costs and charges are factored in, I still think Princess presents better overall value.
It would be interesting 🤔 to try them under the Carnival experience as we know them well as P&O which are familiar as we know it as I will be going on Luminosa next weekend to try Carnival for the first time and somewhere in next winter I will try Splendor too and get the full experience
I bet you want see any new changes till the ships are updated which will be the Encounter first when goes to Singapore in 2026. Which is interesting as it had a refit back in 2023 after the Adventure 2021. I have a funny feeling the Adventure will be sold.
I sailed on pacific adventure 10 nites to cairns June 23 and 9 nites same cruise august /sept 24 food standard is below parr same menu hasn't change on both cruises except now now some add on at a charge also no more prociotto included in now cost 24 dollars for 2 Standard of food on the adventure has gone really unacceptable even some morning they dont serve sunny side fried eggs In 9 niyes i dined in extra charge resto was amazing but cost 145$ for 2
Have never cruised with either brand but it sounds like the Carnival ships, as opposed to the rebranded P&O ships might be better. Included popular food attracts me. I think with less ships over the next two seasons all ships will be packed to the Max and the experirnce less enjoyable.
Keep the current P&O experience P&O is budget and alot cheaper then Carnival adding "included extras" they will inevitably put the prices eg eg Carnival Adventure we paid $103 a night per person (during school holidays) /w $100 on board spending money + can pick your own room Carnival Splendor same itinery $210 a night per person (during school holidays) /w no on board spending money [Guaranteed Cabin]
Weve never done a Carnival cruise, but have been on PnO and RCL ships... aand i must say the Free Pizza and Hotdogs on RCL was fun to have some nights instead of mainstream dining... Either way i think Everything PnO is Dead... Carnival will assimilate all there rules across all ships.... and will come out with an announcement stating .. It was too hard to run Both systems..
Haven’t been on Carnival so can’t compare. Just off PA. It left a lot to be desired. Food was crap. They need a new Chef in charge of whatever is produced in the pantry. Restaurant food hit or miss. Main flogged shows being undesirable. Other unknown shows prior to boarding were good. Have to pick and choose what’s good and bad, individual perceptions. Party I travelled with said never again.
@@MO-fu7vi fair enough, you're all entitled to feel that way. It mustn't have been clear, but the intention for the video was to inspire conversation around the potential changes for P&O's experience, considering Carnival's social media statement is in complete contradiction to all other communications I've seen to date. YMMV.
@thecruiseandtravelguy - does Carnival offer an equivalent to the Byron Beach Club for suite guests? [im voting for the Carnival experience on Encounter / Adventure - with BB facilities]
They don’t, but they have Cloud 9 Spa cabins which provide access to the thalassotherapy pools. I don’t know, but there’s potential for Carnival to transition some of the BB Club cabins and facilities into Cloud 9 if they were so inclined…
Got pretty tired of the passenger price gouging on P&O. I'd prefer the Carnival inclusive approach. One thing that both Adventure and Encounter need is a major makeover of the cabins which are in poor state. On a positive note the P&O Australia approach to the bits of the ships that they did refurbish were vastly superior to the average Carnival decor.
Totally agree. Cabins need a revamp, and plumbing 😅 and although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think P&O’s public spaces are top notch compared to Carnival’s mismatched horror show.
Agree with you Adrian, P&O ship with Carnival inclusions 👍
Thanks for updates. Keep Carnival as Carnival.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Personally I prefer the Carnival all inclusive experience and agree that the P&O ships are more spacious and nicer decor than Carnival, in particular Splendor.
I think so too, they have a better feeling onboard for me personally... I would enjoy the Carnival (more) inclusive experience on those ships.
I think it needs to change to a carnival product in terms of staff friendliness, complimentary food options, MDR, funship 2.0 options and change the buffet.

that's only going to last until those 2 ships are retired which IMO will be in the next 5 years max
My brother and his family will be sailing on Adventure after the changeover around this time next year. I prefer Carnival and probably wouldn't book on Adventure or Encounter if it's just a new paint job and logo on the P&O experience.

Carnival experience would be a lot better, this P.O budget charge up for everything is not how anyone should be spending their cruise.
Sailing on Carnival Encounter to Singapore Feb 2026 for her dry dock, board again for return back to Brisbane. Will have a good indication of what was done visibly at any rate. I don’t think we’ll see a whale tail for Adventure, but I imagine her funnel will turn red at some point in the future… that would be a sight 🫣
With the pay extra on P&O for food don't forget the give you room credit I booked a cruse in may and snaged 600 in room credit
Wow you did well! $600 onboard credit is brilliant.
EIther keep P&O in tact (Fully operational and left to cruise as is) OR go full Carnival on all ships, its going to be to confusing having to check not only the dates for your cruise but also the ship..

Hmm 🤔 that’s an idea… they might! That southern cross emblem on Splendor could be the start of things to come? Haha!

The BB Club is one of the best additions to P&O’s ships in recent times. Hopefully they remain.
Would like to see a consistant offer, if carnival ships, a carnival offer.
Yeah I think that would ultimately be the goal - I was curious about their plans when they first announced the change. They were very adamant the P&O experience would continue as is but based on this new statement, if you can call it that, I imagine they might be aiming to provide a more holistic, singular experience going forward…
Yes, the P&O ships with Carnival inclusions would be ideal. I am not a fan of the decor on either of Carnivals other ships 😬
🫣 terrible decor, my gosh 😂
What happens to our P&O loyalty points ?
Let us know how you enjoy your first Carnival cruise!
I bet you want see any new changes till the ships are updated which will be the Encounter first when goes to Singapore in 2026. Which is interesting as it had a refit back in 2023 after the Adventure 2021. I have a funny feeling the Adventure will be sold.
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy I sure will soon when I come back
Yayyyy that was my comment.
Thanks for inspiring the video, Cilla!
I sailed on pacific adventure 10 nites to cairns June 23 and 9 nites same cruise august /sept 24 food standard is below parr same menu hasn't change on both cruises except now now some add on at a charge also no more prociotto included in now cost 24 dollars for 2
Standard of food on the adventure has gone really unacceptable even some morning they dont serve sunny side fried eggs
In 9 niyes i dined in extra charge resto was amazing but cost 145$ for 2
P&O ship with carnival inclusions. But keep New Zealand Icecream and the restaurants.
Have never cruised with either brand but it sounds like the Carnival ships, as opposed to the rebranded P&O ships might be better. Included popular food attracts me.
I think with less ships over the next two seasons all ships will be packed to the Max and the experirnce less enjoyable.
I think you might be right about that... definitely seeing supply constrained and the potential for busier cruises as a result.
We will never cruise on Encounter again if they do not change to the Carnival inclusions, we have enjoyed the 2 Carnival Luminosa cruises far better.
Keep the current P&O experience
P&O is budget and alot cheaper then Carnival adding "included extras" they will inevitably put the prices eg
eg
Carnival Adventure we paid $103 a night per person (during school holidays) /w $100 on board spending money + can pick your own room
Carnival Splendor same itinery $210 a night per person (during school holidays) /w no on board spending money [Guaranteed Cabin]
Great insight, thanks for sharing a real world example.
I rather the whole carnival experience
They're just gonna charge for the extras now on all ships - burgers pizza all for charges I bet
I hope not, but we might know more by next year.
I rather the whole carnival experience inc food
Weve never done a Carnival cruise, but have been on PnO and RCL ships...
aand i must say the Free Pizza and Hotdogs on RCL was fun to have some nights instead of mainstream dining...
Either way i think Everything PnO is Dead... Carnival will assimilate all there rules across all ships.... and will come out with an announcement stating .. It was too hard to run Both systems..
Let’s see what 2025 brings 🤔
pno is done so goodby
Haven’t been on Carnival so can’t compare. Just off PA. It left a lot to be desired. Food was crap. They need a new Chef in charge of whatever is produced in the pantry. Restaurant food hit or miss. Main flogged shows being undesirable. Other unknown shows prior to boarding were good. Have to pick and choose what’s good and bad, individual perceptions. Party I travelled with said never again.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It will be interesting to see if things change when P&O becomes 'Carnivalised' early next year.
I will not go to Sydney to sail with carnival as they don't care about people in other states iwill go with royal carriers instead and I cruise a lot
Was a video really necessary for this bit of non-news?
Ooft. That's harsh. The fact that I made the video should answer your question.
