I have been waiting for this tutorial!!! Thank you!!! I am a full member and I have already made this dress and a pair of Jeans. I have never been so proud of myself. Thank you for making it so easy for new sewers like me to make our clothes.
Thank you monique for this great comment. I am so encouraged when I hear that new sewers are having success. There is nothing like success to spur you on to try more patterns. Thanks for joining and for your support. It is much appreciated.
Hi, Sorry, just noticed I didn't reply to this. Going up a size just for the bodice and blending it with the smaller skirt pattern would be worth a try. If you are not a member and you are working with the Free Pinafore Pattern which just comes in small/medium/large, follow the link to the Free Dress Pattern and link from there to my new page showing common alterations. I have started the series with a quick guide to altering for a fuller bust. I hope that helps. Thanks for commenting.
Hi Samantha, I mention the fabric at frame 0:26. I think it may be a polyester and wool mix, maybe with some cotton. It feels very much like a lightweight pure wool but it was quite inexpensive from a local FabricLand shop. The lining is just a standard, probably polyester, medium quality lining. So nothing too special. Thanks for commenting
Hi Angela, would love to do your dress as my next sewing project. I try to print your free pattern, but what ever I do, the grid is not 1" (25.4 cm) but only 1.8 cm... I set my printer for a 100 per cent scale, but it does not work at all...
Are you sure you cut the pattern to 100% scale? Did you do a test print on the 1"x1" grid on page 2. Move printing advice here - angelakane.com/sewing/sewing_site_help.php
+samaraisnt She means when you want to make the pattern longer/larger you cut along the dotted line and separate the pieces. Figure out how much you need to extend the pieces to the length or width you need and tape a blank sheet of paper along the back to join the two pieces of the cut pattern. This is necessary for people who have longer torsos. If you're petite, you'll need to overlap the pieces to make the length shorter.

Thank you so much.
How many yards of fabric do you need for this dress?

Thank you! I cut the patterns in all sizes and the back is much longer than the front. Did I do something wrong?

What does she mean by "spread the pieces" rather than overlapping them.
Meaning they won't be symmetrical/ exactly laying on top of each other? Or ...
