Definitly needed this refresher course. With all the lore about star wars wether it be legends or canon it's hard to remember certain stuff. I knew about all this but just forgot certain details. Thanks Alex.
The Jedi are the cause of almost every major and most devastating war in the history of the galaxy save the Vong War. All because they ostracize the dark instead of embracing it together with the light side to have a perfect balance. You can't fall to the dark side or become Sith if you already have it together with the light. Jedi should be Gray Jedi.
BrandoTendie I mean that's primarily the mmo which is still incomplete. And there is a lot of useless stuff in the legends universe but if you stick to strictly the timeline in the front of most of the books it's incredible how more 100 books written by different authors built this universe that flows really well
BrandoTendie I'm not about to say legends is perfect it will always have it's flaws but as of right now I prefer the post civil war world built in legends as opposed to the world being constructed by canon
I don’t know how anyone can say legends was messy but then you look at the new canon. I’ve been rereading Labrynth of Evil and I noticed that it calls back to a lot of other content while canon goes on rampages and retcons everything (Ahsoka novel for example)
How about a comprehensive list of every species known to have been driven to extinction via war, plague, catastrophic accident or whatnot? Just a thought. Might go well with the list of wars.
Darth Caedus led the Galactic Alliance and Imperial Remnant, NOT the Confederation. The Confederation was led by the Corellian president or a council of member world leaders, depending on when during the war you are talking about.
Colp2 not really, after the outbreak of the war, Corellia was shoved to the back of the group while other worlds like Fondor and Commenor took charge of the Confederation.
Honestly, I've always had trouble following some of these wars. I never understood some how started and then ended. I felt it was always a tangled mess sometimes. Major kudos for you making this. I can't wait for the canon version!
nexus prime Yeah I know. I just got confused on how certain wars started or transitioned. Many of these wae have different names just for a single conflict don't you know. Especially, during the time of the Old Republic.
You misplaced the Rakatan Civil War and the Force Wars. It was actually the opposite in sequence. Other than that I think that you should've renamed this as "Every Galactic War in Star Wars Legends" as that is really what you're covering. There were other wars and conflicts that occurred in the galaxy after the New Sith Wars but they were ones that didn't have the full support of the Republic or didn't became full scale wars. Such examples include the Hukk War where General Grievous grew his reputation as a fearsome military commander and his hatred for the Jedi began; the Mandalorian Civil War that was between different Mandalorian factions that was ended by Jedi intervention; and the Stark Hyperspace War where a group of pirates and smugglers in the Outer Rim wanted to put pressure on the Republic for their lack of trade with its aftermath setting the stage for the Naboo Crisis.
I'm sure that will change as time goes on; my only issue with Legends' history, aside from a number of continuity hiccups, is that it's spread out WAY too far; I thought it was too much that the Great Sith War, Mandalorian War, etc. was 4000 BBY, and the only notable events before them being set 5000 BBY, but WOW! All these major events spread out across 200,000 years?!?! Seriously??! It could stand to be condensed a little, and, given that the new Canon has placed the Scourge of Malachor at 1000 BBY rather than 4000, that may very well happen.
I’m curious about some of the smaller conflicts not included on this list, since it seems that this list focused on galaxy-spanning conflicts. I know it would be a lot to ask to list all of them, but I’d definitely like to see some videos on a notable few, like the Mandalorian Civil War, the (First) Imperial Civil War - since you mentioned the second - etc. Although they’re not as big, I do find their events and characters interesting
Great video! Only error I found was during he Second Galactic Civil War. Darth Caedus didn’t lead the Confederation. He actually help overthrow the Galactic Alliance President, and instil himself and an alliance Admiral as leaders of the Alliance. Luke and the Jedi split from the Alliance after learning of Jacen Solo’s turn to the dark side and formed a third faction.
Derp13465256 Well, not exactly. The Sith won Great Galactic War. In the Clone Wars, the Sith were leading 2 major factions, so they won. In Imperial Civil War the faction led by Sith won
Great Video! Liked and favorited! Considering all of he real wars on planet earth in the last 6000 years, it’s no wonder there are so many in hundreds of thousands of years between trillions of sentient beings. I really want more old republic content, it’s my favorite era. The long, drawn out wars between Sith and Jedi, Empire and Republic, Dark and Light, it’s all soooooo good!
Oh not in comparison to legends but just to see how much time passed. I know canon is less complicated but in this one I found it a bit hard to follow when I couldn't see the dates on screen :)
My favorite era/war will always be "The Old Sith Wars". It encompasses so much of Star Wars history and lore it could be it's own multi-trilogy movie block.
I'd love to see at least one old Legends war retold in Canon. Something from the Old Republic or before. Perhaps as a TV show, with the state the SW fanbase is in, I don't think filmgoers could take a film that divergent.
+Bloody useless Or you could always join the Star Wars Legends movement. All they want is for Lucasfilm to continue Star Wars Legends separate from the new movies and better content from Lucasfilm I might add. With the Star Wars Legends movement you get nice people, good conversation, and they have already donated ten thousand dollars worth of Star Wars books to children's hospitals in California and Florida. You can find them at: facebook.com/groups/533341320109211/ facebook.com/groups/198319927202313/ facebook.com/groups/eurebellion/
I reckon we could see that happen with the Mandalorian wars - though it would be quite different to Legends. The Hundred Year Darkness has only been referenced by name and you could retell the New Sith Wars and the rise of Darth Bane pretty much as is.
George Lucas: "How about a fake, orchestrated conflict between two endless armies all to distract the galaxy so the real villain can take over, then another war but between a rag-tag rebellion and the massive empire!" Legends Writers: "What if like seventeen wars between a big army of jedi versus a big army of sith, yeah. oh also extragalactic aliens twice."
You simplified the second galactic civil war a lot-Caedus wasn't leading the confederation but the GFFA which he and an admiral had overthrown in a coup. The empire and the Hapans also participated.
I'd love it if you made a video about the Bacca lineage! I'm so confused about the order/history, and my favorite character is a Wookiee! If you do this, please touch upon how this ties in with Lowbacca, the Kashyyyk events in KOTOR, and my favorite character, Chewbacca (and his family).
WRONG, One war could be abaut territory, one war coud be about simple hatred for another, one war can have two artificial armies fight and one war has an extra galactic race trinf to kill us all....
Yes, it's outstanding. Okay the animation looks dated and the first few episodes will feel filler esque but it doesn't take long before launching into greatness, around episode 10 I'd say. The characters are excellent, the voice acting is ahead of its time, and the story is just mind blowing especially when Season 2 goes all G1 and everything. It's only 52 episodes long, give it a watch. :)
Makes me wonder whether the movies could ever break away from the Galactic Civil War and the Clone Wars eras. There is much more to the Galaxy than those conflicts.
Indeed, but bear in mind that the new Canon is still very recent. It only started 3-4 years ago, while Legends had been built up over the course of 30+ years. I've said this before: it really is just a matter of time.
Glad to finally see the SWTOR era covered, a little disappointed at how little is said about the Eternal Alliance after the war for Zakuul over Iokath. And technically, the Hutt Cartel did declare war on the Republic during the Makeb crisis.
Would love to see you have a list for favorite Star Wars spoofs and parodies in pop culture. I think that would be fun. ESP hearing it with your narration style.
I love the old republic era because of the mass amounts of Jedi and Sith it is very different than just having two dark lords. It was very interesting and had amazing characters like Revan, Nihilus, as well as the Shan family.
Whilst it may be a somber video, I'd quite like to see a Canon vs Legends video comparing major character deaths/defeats/sacrifices. I'm only really aware of one major death from the New Jedi Order series of books.
It's missing the civil war between the Kwa and the Rakata, the rise of the Je'Daii and subsequent collapse into Lightside and Darkside divisions in the aftermath of the Rakatan invasion, (end missong secrions) then it can segway into the war between the followers of Ashla vs Bogan that created the Lightside Jedi order.
The Great Hyperspace War is also subtly referenced in Revenge of the Sith. There is a piece of art depicting one of the battles as seen in the comics in Palpatine’s office. It just might be canon.
The confederation was lead by general tor fenier (I can't spell that name), Jason solo lead the galactic alliance for the first half then the galactic alliance and empire for the second half of the war.
I wanna see how BioWare intends to resolve the now-problem of the Eternal Alliance, which is what your character creates in KOTFE/KOTET. The Alliance somehow needs to fall and give way to the Sith/Jedi conflicts again
One of the reasons I had a hard time getting into legends is the with the with keep returning. Kinda ruins Anakin sacrifice to me in destroying the with. Not to mention the emperor clones
I hate the emperor clones, but the Sith in general returning actually makes sense. Anakin fulfilled the prophecy by destroying the Jedi and Sith, so after Luke returned the Jedi, the Sith needed to return as well for there to be balance.
LegoTurtle Brickfilms I don't know with returning just makes the original series seem like just another battle between with and Jedi in a long line of wars with with and jedis
dravin815 Sith cannot be destroyed. Even if they are all eradicated and all their texts are destroyed, it will be a matter of time, before some Force-user realises, he/she can easly gain more power by using passions, instead of internal peace. It all makes sense

There's also a Lothal Calendar invented by Pablo Hidalgo. Geonosis is year 3255, Yavin is year 3277, and Episode 7 is in year 3311. Legends also had other calendars occasionally mentioned.
Just gonna chime in here to say that the sacking of coruscant during 3653 BBY is also year 0 for the BTC/ATC calendar, there are a few other calendars as well but the most famous one is BBY/ABY due to a New Hope being the marking point for it.
Kahn Family No. Tanug became the first Mandalorians. Mandalorians in Legends aren't a race, but a culture, so everyone could join. Tanug were still Tanug, but also Mandalorian
The Vong should of been in episode 7. I think that would of been a much better movie and trilogy. Han could of died fighting the vong instead chew, could have our new Jedi order and fighting a new enemy, and maybe even sith and/or imps teaming up with the new republic to defeat them, with the sith trying to back stab the Jedi in the 9th movie. Have Ben Skywalker already born and around the same age as the solo children and them slowly taking on a leading role though the trilogy. It would of been a much better was to movie from Luke and Han to their children. Most of all it be close enough to legends that but still new that it would please everyone as long as they do it right. Like making sure Luke is legend look instead who ever 8 was.
Now do every star.

Legends had 30+ years to flesh out it's universe, Canon has had 4. We can rely on it getting to that point eventually.
You've got Legends to go through. I'm just saying that it's very unrealistic to want to the Canon to be as fleshed out when it's so much younger.

Peter Parker Does it matter if it's canon or not?

You must embrace a larger view of the force
Hail Legends; the REAL Star Wars.
I want a film for at least half of these Wars
Not to be one of those guys on purpose....but Jason was the leader of the Galactic Alliance during the Second Galactic Civil War 😕😯
As well as a 3rd party under the title ofnthe Jedi Coalition.
4:09 THERE WAS A BEAST WARS IN STAR WARS, TOO?! So much for "What if instead of the Clone Wars, It was the Beast Wars?". =_=
Didn’t Caedus lead the Galactic Alliance against the confederation?
Nice video though.
It would help to have a visual of the dates.
When i saw this video... i saw WAR
Alessio Del Conte LOLL!
0:37 so if the Taung eventually became the Mandalorian race, does that mean that the Taung evolved into Humans?
Kahn Family
No.
Tanug became the first Mandalorians. Mandalorians in Legends aren't a race, but a culture, so everyone could join. Tanug were still Tanug, but also Mandalorian
Thats a lot of wars man
I love the clone wars more, the old republic wars looks interesting
War is a racket, Smedley Butler(July 30 1881-June 21 1940) MajGen USMC Ret
