Don't how I missed this guy...maybe, I heard his songs yet didn't know it was him. One of the quickest gittar playin' dudes I've heard while his mid to lower register notes AND style/segue of playing are unmatched by anybody - ANYBODY! I'm serious...he, literally, sounds like his singing chords instead of playing them! I see why he won a Grammy in '02.
Ver este video es un sueño de 20 años hecho realidad. Muchas gracias por compartirlo. Norman Brown es uno de mis artistas preferidos y esta es una de mis canciones favoritas.
I do like norman brown dont get me wrong I have some of his cds but when it comes to real jazz music playing hes gets a low score. He plays his guitar more like jimi hendrix. who by the way is one of his idols. He just plays it like an electric rock guitar smothered with pop melodies. He doesnt hold a candle to George Benson.George Benson is a real jazz guitar player. George plays so jazzy he doesnt come out full throttle like norman brown throwing haymakers its just sophisticated playing.
I didn't see it in the credits but this came from BET's jazz series... I kinda hate this style of soulless passionless jazz(although it's not really jazz) .. It's completely calculated.. absolutely no musical risks allowed... Norman Brown has great ability but is sidetracked by wanting to be a star instead of focusing on creating great music.. He's got the look, he's got the chops but corporate instrumental R&B with zero spiritual content is what you get when the business of music dictates your content... Norman Brown is too gifted to allow himself to be reduced formulaic empty sound.. I like Norman Though🤔
I know what you're saying, but most will miss the point you're trying to make. Neither Brown or Whittfield will ever be Benson or Wes. They have validity however, but there was already a George Benson so they haven't captured their own voice. I'm A jazz guitarist myself and have not reached the heights I strive for,BUT I do sound like me.
I totally agree, he don't have the upbringing most jazz guys have. Benson's talent and experience dwarfs Brown's, that's not to disrespect Brown. His style is not jazzy at all, he has his own style, he may have said Benson is his mentor but he plays nothing like him. He's still a good player but in no way do I link him with guys like Benson, Wes, Pass, Martino, Carlton or Ritenour.
Miss the Smooth Jazz era late 90s- Early 2000s

Norman Brown e seus exímios músicos : sempre um showzaço à parte.

You're funny but right! I was going to ask if anybody knew his name because I've seen him with Chaka Kahn and After 7. He rocks that bass!
Great jam Brownie... So wish the sound was better on this.
I think he's better than George Benson for sure.

Man you don't know what you're talking about but you have that opinion
dwight moore i agree with u...
WRONG.....Norman Brown is one of the BEST guitar players I've ever heard!!
Wrong!
I like the flavor he brings with his music. Instruments blend together creating a beautiful sound...
The guy is gifted. I like him more than George Benson
George Benson got him in the vocals category though.

You're nuts every heard of acid
