Honestly, depending on where you live, the Nazis may be a symbol of hatred and whatnot, but in the Southern US, Hitler and the Nazis are looked upon more favorably by common folk. Usually either as a joke or at least as more tolerable than the communists. A guy I met in a grocery store asked me what would be a good beer choice. I offered a German Oktoberfest variety. He expressed some reservation over it, implying that he wouldn't want to be judged for drinking a Nazi beer. I replied that as bad as the Nazis were, at least they removed about 30 million communists from the Earth (a jest). He bought the beer.
Still, when it comes to removing communists, can't beat other communists at that game. Why, Stalin his own self, responsible for just under 200million... in China, just a few less than that, thanks to Mao. In fact, more German people died in Germany[killed by Allies]than the National Socialists killed inside/outside of it. Curious. "Boohoo, London is bombed". The cool thing about the anime is that it makes fun of all groups, they're all psychos at this point, no matter how just they may have been initially.
It really baffles me how ignorant human beings can be. Instead of trying to learn from the past they ignore it. From my (tbf biased) POV the NS-regime is one of the most important events in recent history. It pictures to the extreme what can happen if you revoke someones humaneness. The most horrifying part is that some of the lessons of ww2 seem to be lost. It's nuts.
