Darren's chanel was something that determined me to become an artist at the first place the most. It was my starting point in the world of designing and painting. Thanks to him for that.
His Destiny artwork is friggin awesome. I play the game and instantly recognized a lot of the stages/ maps he created that made it into the game. This is the man I have to thank for some really nice maps.
Could you do a video talking about Visual library/vocabulary. Efficient ways of training/improving it and testing it out. Like iterations, studies. I really admire the way you see images in your head just from looking at abstract shapes and colour and are able to get them down onto the canvas accurately and confidently. Shown in your paint streams. ^ 3^
This was really interesting, the most I guess eye opening part of the talk for me was using reference, I'm still kinda stuck in that mindset of "oh you have to do it all yourself and using reference is cheating" and hopefully I can try to get out of that, though I still feel like I should try to gain the skill of being able to do stuff entirely out of imagination too.
Using reference doesnt necessarily mean copying from a photo, more looking at reference and improving your mental library. Especially with imdustrial things, as even the most out there designs are baised in some form of science, that kind of the point of robotic designs, otherwise your just making a golum.
I'm really looking forward to it, it's a topic that I rarely see people talk about and I think it's quite important, using reference can range from straight up taking a part of a photo to getting inspiration from it and I found myself mostly doing the former, which resulted in not really learning anything.
