being a hacker myself I'm not usually impressed by such demos but this one really hammers it home! Great work, can't wait to get my hands on my own APC.
Yes please elaborate on this. I pressed shift and the 3rd button in, like you did but no drum rack control. Its hard to find videos/understandable forum talk on the drum rack control.
Great video! Your speed and consistent movement is at a wonderful pace, my brother! So fucking helpful. Conceptualizing all of these different ideas and how you plan to use them is very inspirational and thought provoking! Would definitely watch more content of this nature.
@stray411: You're a pimp! Ive been showing my other acp homies the untapped potential of their midi controller and this video blew their minds. i especially like the workaround for the lack of velo-sensitive pads. It took me some time to acquire a copy of bome's, as other midi routers like PD can be difficult to set up to improve functionality. Im currently working on a mode to control visualizer programs natively from ableton, so that the set doesn't become too cluttered. Thank You x 9000!
Just bought it. And bought two padcontrol`s. Now will have to spend plenty of time adjusting it and remapping. I really like that cool idea with transport control like arrows up down, zoom and others. Trying not to use computer keyboard at all.
dude,,,, please make a tutorial on how you change the default clip launch section, like you have done starting 2:43... THIS IS THE SICKEST APC 40 VID! ....additional modes... sick nasty!
At 2.13 you state about the bank select buttons not making the clip veiw scroll when held. Mine does it out of the box mate -- just press and hold. no remapping required :)
EXCELLENT VID! thanks alot for posting! could you please do another expanding on the different "modes" you've programmed into the APC and how you switch between one another? thanks again! :)
Very Kool, I'm getting my new APC40, Wednesday. At $219 n free expedite shipping from Unique Audio this is a bargain! System: CDJ's 2000, DJM800, ELX15" Power Speakesr, Traktor Pro-2. Toshiba Satellite L675, Ikey505 Speakers Monitors.
OK so I think I understand it a bit more. Sounds like you know a little too. i think I'm going to get a high end allan and heath four channel mixer and then just use the apc as a midi controller only. no volume no eqing will be done with it. What you think? Suggestions?
How about setting up the drum pad with two sets of 4x4 (one on either side) and two horizontal sets of velocity controls up on top? This would make the Last pads unnecessary. If the velocity controls are specific to the side, you could have two velocities simultaneously.
Hey bro, thanks for this vid. sorry to ask a simple question. RE APC as drum machine.. how exactly do you do that? if you have chance do you think you expain clearly step by step how to do that as i like the idea. I'm using the APC live on stage and like the idea of being able to drop a simple beat off the APC with out having to carry another midi controller. I aint that hot on tech stuff being more of a performer than tech guy.. thanks bro appreciate..!
I am very excited to see some Translator tutorials. Setting up momentary switches would be great for live performance. Some of that functionality looks way too complex for Translator, though... are you using any Max? Keep us posted! I'm subscribing to your channel.
@naanod actually if I change my sample rate on my audio interface and dont restart firefox, youtube videos play either slower or faster and so does itunes.
But you didn't show how to map that stuff. I'd love to see how you did it. And use it on my own.. foe I instance how did u make drum rack trigger off time?
Being able to momentarily mute and solo stuff would be really useful! As well as all the additional functionality.. Is Bome's MIDI Translator Pro expensive and difficult to program?
What is it youre trying to do exactly? Will you be using ableton to mix, or turntables? If youre using turntables and want to use the apc40 to trigger loops, youll need to have the sound card in your laptop hooked upto one of the channels on the A&H mixer.
@hardcorebeithanan He already has brosky. just check out his other vids or goes to the nativekontrol website and take a look at his apc40 templates/videos
Could anyone explain how he is toggling between presets or templates? I'm not familiar with bome's midi translator but these presets seem to be pretty simple to create, you just gotta assign buttons to keys and/or keystrokes on the keyboard.
how did you set up the hold function on the direction buttons and track on/off switch please i havent got bome but i have osculator which i think does the same thing...if not i'll grab bome cause thats really important peace brian
the' navigational mode' ...is that something you spent time programming and assigning / remapping? Anyone know if this still works as flawlessly with Live 5? as it does 8?
Hello, I also have Bome's But when Ableton Is controlled by APC40 , bome's don't want to open midi for APC40, how can you have APC 4O and BOmes with same controller? regards
Can this be done with midiStroke? I have a APC40 mk2 and would simply like to set up a user mode for playing piano keys, similar to the drum rack hack. Any ideas?
Thanks for checking out the vid everybody. Im still working on the stuff I showed in the vid so stay tuned. And Ill see what I can do on Translator tutorials for the future. @ Machinate, thanks and I personally cant wait to see what you do with this thing.
Does anyone have a tutorial that shows how to change Solo/Mute/Record into momentary buttons? Also on how to expand "Track Control" to effectively add a Send D,E,F, and G?
both are good, download the ableton demo to try it, an for logic - ask a friend or go to a store to try it. Some like ableton better other likes logic.
HI. GREAT VID. Can someone tell me how to program the APC40 as drum pads as showed on the vid? I would love to use the pads as midi note trigger for the Artillery plug, for live sets. If someone can help me will be great. Please contact me on PM on youtube.
Happy new year, guys! I've only just discovered your channel this afternoon! Can you give any introductory tips regarding VCV? If any of you guys would like to do a split, mix, chat, or just have fun making music and sounds; here is a link to the channel the kids & i work on from time to time: Soundcloud.com/jodymcdougle
being a hacker myself I'm not usually impressed by such demos but this one really hammers it home! Great work, can't wait to get my hands on my own APC.
Wow. Thanks for sharing. Any doubts I had about buying the APC40 have just disappeared...thanks! The drum rack mapping trick is fantastic.
Please do a tutorial on how to get the mode to control a drum rack!!!
Yes please elaborate on this. I pressed shift and the 3rd button in, like you did but no drum rack control. Its hard to find videos/understandable forum talk on the drum rack control.

Very good review! Some kick ass ideas there!
On a side note: if i'm not wrong, you can scroll by pressing Shift then clicking on the up/down buttons.
Wow! that's pretty cool. Thanks for demonstrating these tweaks. Makes me want to pick up an APC40 that much sooner

Classy My Friend. Modes.. What a concept.
And here i am trying to use Macro Controls as a work around. .. .Will try Bome.
very good customization
now seriously considering the APC as a controller!
Fantastic work dude. Now how about explaining how?
This is so inspiring. I'm about to rip open the software and start exploring. Thanks :D
Very interesting, this APC is very promising
just got live and am thinking this is a must buy cant wait to get my grubby mits on it :)
dude,,,, please make a tutorial on how you change the default clip launch section, like you have done starting 2:43... THIS IS THE SICKEST APC 40 VID! ....additional modes... sick nasty!
cool video man ... very helpful.
going to buy one today!
i had no idea you could do that. good stuff. thanks
please do a tutorial on how to access the drumrack function
At 2.13 you state about the bank select buttons not making the clip veiw scroll when held.
Mine does it out of the box mate -- just press and hold.
no remapping required :)
this video completed my life
EXCELLENT VID! thanks alot for posting!
could you please do another expanding on the different "modes" you've programmed into the APC and how you switch between one another?
thanks again! :)
you should post a video teaching us how to do some of the more advanced stuff
wow I didn't realize it could do so much. I'm totally gona get one now!
wow man this is great stuff
Thanks you for that very useful information!
Big Ups!

great stuff, more plz
can you please go into detail on how you use boomes translator to control the drumrack with the apc ??
Could you upload your presets for bome? Or do a tutorial on that?
Would be great :-)
OK so I think I understand it a bit more. Sounds like you know a little too. i think I'm going to get a high end allan and heath four channel mixer and then just use the apc as a midi controller only. no volume no eqing will be done with it. What you think? Suggestions?
thanks! I was wondering about the velocity thing.
Great video, thank you

can we get the bome project files for the 10 year anniversary of this video plzzz !

he used Bome's MIDI Translator Pro to turn your apc40 to a drum pad
thanks for this!
Any chance of showing us how you did the mute trick? A tutorial would be great.
Cheers
very useful....makes the mouse even less important :-)
I am very excited to see some Translator tutorials. Setting up momentary switches would be great for live performance. Some of that functionality looks way too complex for Translator, though... are you using any Max? Keep us posted! I'm subscribing to your channel.

@DubStepClass He's selling the presets on his website. He's made one of the best APC remaps out there and he knows it ;)
Being able to momentarily mute and solo stuff would be really useful! As well as all the additional functionality..

The Maschine buttons are velocity sensitive ;-)
You said the Machine drum or NI Maschine did not have velocity? At around 3:20
This is all BAD ASS, but how can you do all these things? did you write software for the apc?
Could anyone explain how he is toggling between presets or templates? I'm not familiar with bome's midi translator but these presets seem to be pretty simple to create, you just gotta assign buttons to keys and/or keystrokes on the keyboard.
awesome thanks
Which Daw is better for electronic msusic production?? ableton live 8 suite or logic studio 9??
how did you set up the hold function on the direction buttons and track on/off switch please i havent got bome but i have osculator which i think does the same thing...if not i'll grab bome cause thats really important
peace
brian
I guess that he's talking about the Roland 808 and the Elektron MachineDrum, which doesn't have the velocity...
Peace!
nice vid yo! anyone know why Akai didn't bother to release any "editor" software with this? like the Vyzex editor for the MPD32?
@villainskateboardco or if there is a section in the manual you can refer me to. So many thanks :)
I want one!
the' navigational mode' ...is that something you spent time programming and assigning / remapping? Anyone know if this still works as flawlessly with Live 5? as it does 8?
how did you change the bank select buttons to scroll up and down when holding arrow buttons?
please help me control the drum rack wiht the clip launch I cannot find out how to do this anywhere
Do you need to have BOMES running all the time to use this?
What if you are using MIDI Yoke?
Are you gonna post the template at some point?
how did you edit the bank scroll bar you didnt explain that
Hello,

Can I play a drum rack with the acp40?!?
Respond to this video... thats impressive
you talk very quick but very cool modes !
How change modes in the apc comands???
I thought the APC was only MIDI control. Meaning you wouldn't be hooking the APC to a club system but your computer.
Cool vid but Maschine is velocity sensitive!
I wish youtube had a pitch controller.
Thanks for checking out the vid everybody. Im still working on the stuff I showed in the vid so stay tuned. And Ill see what I can do on Translator tutorials for the future.
@ Machinate, thanks and I personally cant wait to see what you do with this thing.
Hi, tankyou. How i change de modo in apc 40?
How to add 4th and 5th return tracks is it possible ?
probably a dumb question. but is there anyway to emulate the bank shift thingy without owning a apc40?
Are you making a tutorial
"In the 2nd part of the vid, I'm using Bome's MIDI Translator Pro to add the additional functions."
is there any way to use massive through this?
Does anyone have a tutorial that shows how to change Solo/Mute/Record into momentary buttons? Also on how to expand "Track Control" to effectively add a Send D,E,F, and G?
is this using the version of ableton that comes with the controller?
does anyone know the best way to hook up the apc 40 to a club system?
are you on win or os x. i'm gonna guess win. bome's isn't so hot on os x right about now, despite their website's offering os x compatible software.
both are good, download the ableton demo to try it, an for logic - ask a friend or go to a store to try it. Some like ableton better other likes logic.
im picking up a clean one for 80 bucks tomorrow
@naanod Then you could DJ with youtube! AWSOME!

All the APC 40 vids on you tube are from people who had it just a vew weeks:/

Sure do it with a monome, or some other capable controller ; )
HI.
GREAT VID.
Can someone tell me how to program the APC40 as drum pads as showed on the vid?
I would love to use the pads as midi note trigger for the Artillery plug, for live sets.
If someone can help me will be great.
Please contact me on PM on youtube.
Damn, you could slow your speech down! Too fast, I need to be jacked up on coffee to stay on the same page with you
