Is anyone interested to test it with me and help me to develop it like GMA2 entuxiasts ? OFFCOURSE WILL BE FREE FOR EVERYONE have a nice day.
I wonder why I keep getting errors. Seem's the Bome file is fine for me, but it looks like the first step isn't working for me. When I try and import apc40-mapper it gives me an error. Import/export folder of object type "Plugin" is "plugins". - Error : Import "apc40-mapper" At Plugin 2 - Error #23 File not found - Im using v3.7.0.1
Sry about that guys! Haven’t used the mapping in a while since I sold the controller (hehe). Try copy’n’pasting the plugin instead (the plugin editor in MA2 supports CTRL+V for pasting code)
@@aGuyNamedJonas Hey I got the same error and i think i fixed it by doing what you said, but now I get to the point of refreshing the LEDs and nothing happens. Its flashing ok but no refresh. PLEASE HELP!
Hello Jonas, thanks for your tutorials. They are really great and I have already learned a lot from them. So now I've decided to buy Akai apc40 and BOME software. I did everything according to your instructions, connected it and at the beginning everything looked good. MIDI messages are in BOME and Gma2 OnPc. However, nothing wants to work and the command line each time the button is pressed in AKAI displays information which button was pressed and "Error Go Plugin "apc40-mapper "in red and in the next line" Error # 14: OBJECT DOES NOT EXIST "in white. Any idea what went wrong? Regards and thank you for your help!
hi @aGuyNamedJonas. I have a midi controller that supports motorised faders and was wondering if you have any ideas on getting this working. Thanks, Jack
Yes! Just double tap the "Off" key (or press "O" twice with shortcuts enabled) to bring up an overview of all the currently running things. Be careful though - whatever you tap on will be turned off immediately :)
Big fan of the videos! I managed to get everything to work and IT IS awesome! However the playbackbuttons have a bit of lag with some settings and when I assign the flash button the fixture just stays on. Did I forget a step or something?
Hey Jonas really hoping this gets to you, thanks for putting this together it's really awesome. Everything seems to be running great, however, I'm having a problem where the Button 1 on each fader is only causing the Temp function to turn on but it acts as a Go button and just not turning off when I let go of the button. Flash buttons do not work either. Is that a problem you fixed before you sold yours?
Hello, I'm from Argentina, my question is the following, I did the mapping with two loop midi programs and pumps and changing the notes does not turn on the led of the pad, do you know how to configure the led of the pad? for example, when they are not executed they are in yellow and when this green is executed, thank you very much!
Hello, I am writing from Argentina, I use the akai apc40, but I have a problem that the pad buttons of the lauch clip section of the controller send me the same midi note for each row from top to bottom, you know how you can assign the note midi that I want in each pad button? Thank you very much! It's amazing what you do, I really liked the video, greetings
Hey Facundo, thanks for reaching out! The pads always send the same midi note, but on different channels! Have a look at the official manual of the controller - that's where you can find details on the midi notes!
hey is there a way to control the pan and tilt encoders with an akai mpc? whats the best software to use. i basically need a midi controller to program my lights. it would be nice to be able to use the encoders on the mpc to control the panning and tilting of each individual fixture. please let me know if this is possible
Hey Andres, it’s not supported out of the box, there might be a trick around it, I just mostly use my touchscreen though whenever I don’t have a console / cmd wing.
Thanks so much! I'm just starting out and can't afford a command wing yet, so this is perfect for me! (Works with 3.1.2.5 :P) Do you know if it is possible to use a midi controller for the programmer encoders?
You can control the encoder with a LUA function: LUA "gma.canbus.encoder(0,1,pressed)" Increment encoder 1 like on the consolle (emulate the hardware encoder) LUA "gma.canbus.encoder(0,-1,pressed)" decrement encoder 1 like on the consolle (emulate the hardware encoder) The lua function: gma.canbus.encoder(, ,pressed) WWith this function you can emulate the encoder like on the GMA2 consolle or CommandWings Enjoy :)
Won’t work with loopmidi since it’s not a midi “Router” but just a virtual midi cable. A video on using Midi controllers is coming next week - stay tuned! :)))
Hello, I have a problem with my akai apc20, I do the mapping but I can not get the led on the pad, I use the bommers traslator and I assign it as a CC note that is program change, and it only turns on when I press it, but I do not know it stays on, you will know how I can make it stay on, the executor that is activated? Thank you
Hey Ivan, thanks for the feedback! I think that’s just a Macro actually - the black faders were supposed to visually mark the edges of the usable Executors in that mapping!
Hey Thierno, this was primarily built for use with MA2 onPC, but there’s a Bome Translator Box which might help you. Might be easier though to hook it up to a PC and just open up a session with the Console!
Yess but you must know the feature thath is selected right now like: PAN AT +1 If you are on the color tab the midi still change the PAN. The wish of everyone is to use a generic controller encoder like on the desk where the knob is related at the selected feature and resolution thath is actually shown. This is a BIG wish for every body but grandma still don't wont implement this by they own midi mapper. who know why :)
Yess it works, FEATURE $FEATURE.1 AT + $RESOLUTION works at incremental way, just AT +1 still in absolute way. just SETVAR $RESOLUTION=1 This is a super tricks :), WOW! Thanks a lot Lan Vukusic.
I think the command does that. Increments the first encoder no matter what value it represents. I am a developer myself...so if anyone is up for a code collaboration to create a midi to grandma tool, and share it for free....im up for it
the "source code" will be shared with who collaborate to develop it, i'm a c++ programmer too. The midi driver and or filter (compiled one) surely shared for free. My preferred version of grandma2 still the 3.1.2.5, i will test and develop for it. :) I don't know why i stil like thath version..... The state of the development is stopped at 5 years a go where i wrote this like a driver for midi 2 udp, it works well for this, this meant the "device" side is ready with the 2 threa for RX and TX short and long message(sysex). Last night playng with my second hand APC 40 i foud the way to ask to the controller to change the way to work at mode 2 and and let the console replay with the actual position of the faders (linear one), the knob we can controll it directly reading the message and controlling the light.
YES! I think so too...but to be honest I don't really like this version yet - so this is more of a wip that will also hopefully be a little more flexible in the future :)
Just enable the multiscreen mode, save the show restart grandma2 and change the resolution of the external screen. All this on the main page the upper left yellow round button, choice option, on the view tab.
Say what???? Can you please explain in dummy terms lol. And is this to be done in the ableton software settings? Or in windows setting. Would love help as im trying to map colors to my apc40 mk2. Thanks 👍🏼

On the physical consoles / equipment you have a MIDI Port - that should do the trick.

Exactly what this mapping was built for :) let me know if you find issues in the workflow when doing shows with it! :)
You can control the encoder with a LUA function:
LUA "gma.canbus.encoder(0,1,pressed)" Increment encoder 1 like on the consolle (emulate the hardware encoder)
LUA "gma.canbus.encoder(0,-1,pressed)" decrement encoder 1 like on the consolle (emulate the hardware encoder)
The lua function:
gma.canbus.encoder(, ,pressed)
WWith this function you can emulate the encoder like on the GMA2 consolle or CommandWings
Enjoy

I think it's because I'm using version 3.1.2.5, I'm trying to change the appearance of the executor with no success :(
Ivan Oscar Cherivi Huh weird, try to create a black macro / sequence yourself and then assign that? Hope that works!
What program are you using to edit what the apc 40 is doing?
Plugins!
