I think my dad had this model. Can’t remember it was the 414 or 416. This looks like it. Anyway, we had a white one from 2007 I think to 2010 until we scrapped it. Now we scrapped it as we didn’t need it anymore and the car wasn’t worth much, plus someone slashed the tyres on it. I do wish we never scrapped it as it still had so much life in it and those cars are so rare now. The engine was bullet proof being a Honda. Very reliable, never had issues.
Great review. Had one of these back in the day, exact same spec and colour, although a manual, it was a great car, very comfy, drove great and was trouble free. Mine had the optional swimming pool in the boot, the spare wheel well filled with water when it rained !, I never worked out why, probably boot seal or light seals ?, I fixed it by drilling a drain hole through the floor... lol. Great car though.
I have had one of these Rovers I must admit I did like it. It reminds me of my 800 smaller version. My headlining is not sagging in my 800 it's just starting to turn a different colour at the front lol.😂 This was a good review on a good car.👍🤙
~115bhp in the single cam D16s. The R8 smell is something I savour - it's more evident in the early cars, I've found. I massively agree that the autobox is better than the manual for the Honda engine - the manuals need thrashing a lot more than the auto to make the same progress. If you want to review my early model 416SLI auto for a comparison of early and late R8s in the same spec, just let me know on FB or something. As long as I have chance to fit the tailgate plinth first ;)
My R8 as you know is an L reg Manual 414SLi, that goes with my SD3 witch you are going to test once craig has finished with it.....Oh i still use a map, even in Europe
Ha that Rover smell. I remember it from the 90s in my Dad's 600 or Grandad's 414 SEI! I was lighting our logburner and we have these wax burner lighters. They have that new Rover smell so it must be a wax. 🤣
That's a very nice car, colour suits it,estate version is is also v nice and very rare, had 2 of them years ago (saloons)loved them, great review captain mustard 😀
Fond memories.... I remember the crayon smell. 💕
Good to see she's still on the road in 2024. 👍

Not advance gadgets though
@@ProjectNigel That's true 😁
I was originally wanting a rover 400 R8 but insurance buggered me over so i settled for the 200 R8 Lovely car :)
I wouldn't have thought they'd be different
@@ProjectNigel the 400 falls under the saloon category the 200 is a hatch so its cheaper in that regard
BTW, only the early cars have the illuminated ignition barrel, and even then I think it depends on trim level!
I wouldn't say no to a drive 🙂
My parents had same car 1995 416sli auto in racing green they loved it.
🙂
I also in green color ha and the rich smell that it had. what a nice memory.
