    OMG
How is this not in every list of greatest guitar solos ever?
    No whammy bar! What?!

Ever hear a guitar solo that catches your soul, and heart, and cutts deep within bringing tears with the experience?
    (in a good way)
This is one of those! ❤
It has that raw energy-in a way-that I have heard in Neil Young’s playing that is so good at revealing the emotion behind it.

For selfish reasons I’m glad Richard’s popularity isn’t where it deserves to be. I love seeing him perform in clubs and small theaters.

R.I.P. Pete Zorn. Rhythm guitar and all wind instruments. Brilliant.

his solos are just genius, personality, technique, tone, breaking the rules but still tight...

Nobody does pure existential ANGER like Richard Thompson. Feels so good to hear it being screamed out so tunefully!!!

I love him for his difference, his playing, his words. Oblique is how I like my English and Richard is supremely bleak at times but always on song. Tra.

@@JohnGauld Never has a singer songwriter done "it" like this. Incomparable!

One of the best songwriters and performers around, on both acoustic and electric guitar. Also, amazing support band. The drummer is fantastic. Saw him a couple of years ago playing with Glen Hansard. He was great then too.

He's a magician, pure genius. How comes he's never mentioned in the same breath as Gilmour, Hendrix and other greats?!?

Every one of them consummate musicians - all there to support the crown jewel of Thompson's solos.

    Absolutely brilliant.
I saw Richard, for about the 20th time, at Snape last Sunday. Acoustic show, but still electrifying.
    A wizard, a true star.
    Thanks for uploading.

RT's guitar playing is equalled by a few but unsurpassed. No-one. except maybe Jeff Beck in a different way, explores musical possibilities like RT. But, hey, what a great song! RT always tries to match the guitar to the song. Simple guitar for a simple song, like, say Old Thames Side, while this solo tries to express the angst of the protagonist in the song. People who are told they can't win.

PS Saw him in Toronto do this. A very different solo but just as incredible.

That’s some extraordinary guitar picking. Not a cookie cutter solo. And exactly what people expect from RT. Good stuff!

Poor Richard never gets the attention he deserves. Glad I got to see him live before the pandemic started. Thank you for uploading this awesome performance of one of his best songs.

solo like a face-ripper monkey and Michael Jerome is not only in the pocket but, in that little pocket behind the regular pocket.
