As an OKC fan i dont think Cam is worth, what people think we should give up for him. However, were going to have to trade what we have anyway. Id just rather trade them back in latter years, because teams in the Apron would value or picks more than what Brooklyn would. So the Thunder could get a first and a second for one of our lower firsts. Then for or top pick we could get two protected firsts for ours.

Cam falls perfectly with the 3 years. Dieng, Topic, KWill for salary, and a first or 2. Hurt you in >2027 but maximize this window. And OKC is not really giving up any major rotational pieces to do it.

Brooklyn should be in the market for assets. I wouldn’t be worried about the long term contracts of two young players making $9 mil and $12 mil a year. Both are extremely tradeable pieces if you are really worried about cap space…. But in a complete rebuild like Brooklyn has, shouldn’t be worried about trying to have cap space for max contracts
Sam Presti would really have to like Cam a lot to give up three first round picks for two and a half years of him. Cam is good, but he would be probably the third option on that team at best, and maybe even a fourth option when Chet comes back. Topic seems unrealistic, but I guess it is possible. Aaron Wiggins, Kenrich Williams, and Isaiah Joe are positive contract players but probably aren't the kind of players the Nets want when rebuilding. Maybe Joe or Wiggins could have big career improvements if given more responsibility to increase their value, but the Nets could also just get other teams involved in a trade and get some picks from them as well. Denver could definitely use any one of Joe, Wiggins, or Williams, for instance, and would at least give up some second round picks for one of them.

Utah is top 10 (won't convey, turns into 26 top 8, then 28 2 2nds), Miami is lottery (then unprotected in 26), Philly is top 6 (top 4 in 26/27) and is likely a 10-16 pick in 25, and OKC has swap rights with LAC/HOU (top 10). Today, OKC has #8/#17/#18 in the 2025 draft with Utah not conveying. However, Miami is likely to miss the playoffs without Butler. Those are the two most interesting picks for the Nets, as both are likely decent for 2026 where the Nets only have their own. One thing to note all 3 of Kenrich/Joe/Wiggins have TO's, so technically Kenrich only is signed through next season, not two more. And Joe/Wiggins could likely be sent to other teams for a protected 1st.
If OKC is willing to give us Topic we should call the Wizards and gauge their interest. 2 FRP possibly in the Top 3 would save this Franchise. Just a thought 💭

Unless the Nets get Topic and at least 2 1st trading with OKC or Memphis isn't that good of a deal. Because they get garbage picks or take back too much salary(and the salary is over two years). They are better off taking a Pistons trade THJ, Fontecchio and 2029 1st. Nets take back 8 mil for one year and the chances are the 1st is 20 or better. Hell even lottery.

For instance teams that are near the Apron that pick is valuable. Plus you never want to assume a pick is going to be good or bad.
