Sunidhi chauhan is the singer who revolutionized Indian music.. you must react to her live performances.. she is far ahead of any other Bollywood singers .. legendary 😮💨
How have you still not seen Parineeta?. Please you really have to watch it. Such wonderful performances from debutant Vidya and Saif too, so good. Sanjay as well! This movies screams good songs, aesthetics, storylines and great acting..🙌
Yess I agree that the novel might be set prior to independence. However if you see the beginning of the film, it introduces viewers to the Calcutta of the 1960s.
There were many clubs like these in Calcutta and Bombay before 1960's because of the Britishers of course. Rick you should watch Rendezvous with Simi Garewal where she interviews Rekha. And Zeenat Aman and Menaka Gandhi... Thanks
I have given up and I don't care about it anymore. She is one of the biggest music stars in India and definitely doesn't need two american men's attention. Let them rake views reacting to her hits without giving her any credit. If they actually cared, they would've known her by now.
@Kiyan completely agree with the second part. They just stick to the names they already know (Lataji, Arijit, Shreya, Kaushiki ji, etc) and completely ignore people they’ve listened to a dozen times (Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sunidhi) They’re annoying at this point. Waleska Herrera are much better when it comes to music stuff
@@shivangjoshi4931 shreya is a good singer probably among the only two best singers after 2000 but what new has she offered? She is carrying lata Mangeshkar's legacy ahead very skillfully but sadly there's nothing new or revolutionary about her singing....but Sunidhi Chauhanncarved a whole new space in the industry with her style of singing......shreya Ghoshal has become popular only after sanjay leela Bhansali's songs before which she was just another good singer. Sunidhi on the other hand recieved comparatively lesser big banner songs and thats why her name isn't popping out much but that doesn't take away from the fact that although Shreya's songs are sugar to the ears ....those are surely not the ones you want to hear in a live concert . Sunidhi Chauhan is tbe ultimate queen when it comes to live concerts . She has the perfect combination of songs to her name! Does she require the white attention people are crazy for on TH-cam? No i dont think so. We ....who have known Sunidhi's calibre , continue to follow her to this day (without belittling shreya) .... thats all that matters
@@shivangjoshi4931 the irritation here is unbelievable lol. I'm sure even Indians with a lifetime of Bollywood often listen to more common singers they forget about or underrate, favouring ones they recognise more. Yet here all you expect 2 Americans who only started with Bollywood 3 years ago to recognise everyone instantly 🙄
@@littleberry0958 The thing is if they're into music they should be able to. I don't expect Jaby Koay to know who Mohit Chauhan is. But for someone, who claim to love music, they should atleast talk about her singing skills or give her credit. She is the voice of the song and not even credited in the title. This is why it is irritating. They're just mooching off views reacting to her hits
I know I’m VERY late to this video but a bit of context: Cabaret culture was huge in the state of West Bengal towards the last leg of the British colonial rule in India. The capital city of the state- Kolkata- was the original capital of the Empire in the country so they tried to model the city per their European tastes. In fact, one of the oldest clubs in the city happens to be named Moulin Rouge and it’s one of the few that survived rebranding. It was also one of the last places in the country where cabaret dances used to be regular before it was outlawed.
Umrao Jaan is of course Rekha’s finest film marked by her beauty, her performance and her exquisite dances. Plus a great story, great cinematography, costumes and locations. I think it will count among the 10 best of Bollywood ever. The remake was not the same despite Aishwarya Rai.
Dil cheez kya hai from movie Umrao Jaan, salaam-e-Ishq meri jaan with Amitabh from movie Muqaddar ka Sikander, Dekha ek khwab from Silsila for a very few ICONIC REKHA songs!
actually, Calcutta was a melting pot. Jazz was played mainly by Anglo Indians for the British and after independence the city's elites patronized it, not just the Bengalis.
Rekhas story is the real life "My Fair Lady". Really someone needs to make a movie on her life. FYI- her father is gemini ganeshan, the male protagonist in the recent biopic 'Mahanati' you watched (on actress savitri). So rekha is be Savitri's step-daughter.
You guys have got to explore more of Rekha. She is the icon of indian cinema. Can't believe you haven't seen more of her work. I would recommend: neela Asma so gaya, salame ishq, dil cheez kya hai. Must watch.
It pains that no mention of Sunidhi Chauhan is ever made on this channel. After Alisha, I think Sunidhi changed traditional Bollywood singing (and of course Shreya came a couple of years later)
You should see Rekha’s dance number in the film “Jaal”. Interestingly, sometimes there’s something in Indrani that reminds me of Rekha 😊.. not sure if people have already told Indrani that 😊. Of course Rekha’s Umrao Jaan. Khubsoorat and Ghar are films worth watching. Ghar had beautiful numbers penned in by Gulzar to R.D. Burman’s probably really beautiful original melodies.. their Combination in Ghar provided a long lasting list of beautiful lyrics combined with Beautifully composed Music.
In an interview, Salman Khan not only praised Sanju's singing talent but also revealed that he can play musical instruments like the tabla really well. In fact, it was also reported in the media that the actor participated in a concert in USA and won a gold medal for being the best air guitarist. In this contest, contestants have to mimic the action of playing the guitar.
Glad you liked it but you should also comment on music n singer. Sunidhi Chauhan has done a marvellous job on this song. This is a must watch film. For Rekha’s acting you may watch ‘ Khoon Bhari Manng’
Rekha is the daughter of South Indian film actor Gemini Ganesh. Gemini Ganesh hardly ventured into Bollywood whereas his daughter was one favoured Bollywood actress of the 60s into the 90s
Actually, in the movie they are supposed to be in a club called Trinca's , right next to it is a very similar club named Moulin Rogue...in Park Street, Kolkata...so you were close Korbin...this movie shows Kolkata in the 60s...
Love your reaction and this is my request to react ' Happy days are here again' song from 'Mother' movie portrayed by Rekha who is my fav thespian though I am not from India. You will see her outstanding performance and fun side in that music video.
Jazz always been an integral part of kolkata's clubs and pubs from british age till now. The song is copied/ inspired from 'kiss to build a dream on' by Loius Armstrong. The tune is a rip-off from the " kiss to build a dream on"..... this type of song and dance routine was common in 1960s and 1970s Kolkata. This place is probably Moulin Rouge in Park Street
I think the movie was set post independence. Besides, the Brits weren't that big on the Jazz scene. It was mostly the Americans and the French. Kolkata and Mumbai had a bit of a tradition of restaurants featuring live music (often Jazz). Mumbai even had a restaurant called Jazz By the Bay.
I will recommend you Khoobsurat, Umarojan, Ghar and Utsav starring Rekha. And also Kalyug a movie of Shyam benegal starring Amrishpuri, Shashi kapoor, Raj babbar , Supriya pathak and of course Rekha . It’s a modern version of epic Mahabharata.
This song breaks my heart cause it was loudly playing when I heard of Sushant’s passing and it forever will remind me of him. It has a sad undertone to it even without.
Sunidhi chauhan is just a miracle that happened to Bollywood

IN BRITISH TIMES AND UP TO THE SEVENTIES, JAZZ WAS VERY MUCH PRESENT IN PARK STREET BARS, KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL, INDIA!!!!!
Yessss
True that
Yess
yes, it looks like anglo indian song...♥
Kind of still is
You can find retro shows in The Park and staff

Achha!!
Agreed💯
Indian style jazz and blues vibes, that too set in a cabaret theme in a period time piece of 60s India. Rekha is evergreen and refuses to age!
This is not 60s India but pre independence India
Yess I agree that the novel might be set prior to independence. However if you see the beginning of the film, it introduces viewers to the Calcutta of the 1960s.
Umrao Jaan and Khubsurat are my favourite Rekha-centric films. She shines in these. You can pick any song from these films.
Rekha with Sunidhi's voice...perfect match
Please watch “Umrao Jaan” starring Rekha. She is amazing in that movie .
❤️💖❤️
❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Agayi yahape knowledge dene
This movie is full of amazing songs, use to hear them as a child. Watched the movie first-time last year, and loved it.
One of my favourite Sunidhi Chauhan songs! ❤️ And no one except Rekha ji could have performed it this way...
There were many clubs like these in Calcutta and Bombay before 1960's because of the Britishers of course.

The Menaka Ghandi one had a haunting feel to it. I can’t explain but that interview stayed with me for years.
@@avrakehdabra5863 true.. Same here. It's so strange

This sounds a lot like Louis Armstrong's "give me a kiss to build a dream on". But Rekha is a gorgeous lady and has this mysterious aura.
