    I like to think it was both of your ideas combined. “Hey there buddy it’s dangerous out here. Thanks for helping us to avenge our deaths, but you should head on back there”

    Hell maybe it was Korne that sent the vision? We know how indifferent he can be about slaughter, Nagash might have sent a detachment to insure his territory wasn't threatened and afterwards the dawnbringers were told to kick rocks to prevent a fullscale war breaking out between the forces of Nagash and Sigmar over a territorial dispute when both forces had much bigger concerns to worry about.
    I just have a feeling that avoiding a massive war ( with both leaders having massive egos)was probably the reasoning no matter what the other details were, it's fun to speculate on though!

    Maybe now Nagash had his butt kicked, he might have less hold over factions, so maybe nighthaunts might have more will of their own now?

      There's already been some with full wills of their own and who don't even work for nagash in any way. Most of those though, may be tethered to a specific spot, but not always.

    Van denst is also the name of the first edition hammers of sigmar lord relictor, who is a ancient relative of the witch hunters.

    • @Pizzifrizzo
      @Pizzifrizzo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, Ionus Cryptborn, badass Lord Relictor of the Hammerhands and previously known as Prince Eonid ven Denst, who outsmarted and defeated Valkia the Bloody and Bloab Rotspawned in the Realmgate Wars. His brother is also a Stormcast, though he retained his name and is now a Lord Celestant of the Anvils of the Heldenhamner, Thaddeon ven Denst, who was instrumental in the war for Behemat's spoils. It used to be the royal House of the Amethyst Princedoms, before the Age of Chaos, now their descendants are famous Witch Hunters, like Galen and Doralia. It's not clear what happened to the dynasty, but since the Princedoms are still standing, they're either destitute or simply so sprawling that some members can take up the mantle of Witch Hunter with total freedom.

    The only question is if Korghos Khul is still not a Daemon Prince.... What have all the Daemon Princes of Khorne done to become one? Because it seems Mr. Khul is just the most Khorny Guy out there.

      I agree, and it's never really stated. We know in the Realmgate Wars he was like, one skull away from ascension... but then got distracted and beaten lol.

    The land is held by Khorne, it can't be taken yet because his grip is too strong. Rather than giving him more bloodshed, making him stronger, let them fight amongst them selves (Night Haunt have a lot of time to kill), then when weaker death armies can subjugate the Khonate loyalists rather than killing them to reclaim the land. Would explain why people were fading out of existence rather than being killed outright. 🤔

    If left to their own devices (not corrupted by Nagash) I always thought for undead to naturaly care for the living.
    Remember the scene from corps bride, where the dead come back but are just friendly to their old comrades, descandants etc? A mindset like this appears more natural to me, than the dead kill the living. Or like in this story prevent the living from suffering the same horrors they suffered themselves.

    • @rexaxis3450
      @rexaxis3450 ปีที่แล้ว

      Undead were mortal first, I would imagine some who died bitter, vengeful, angry, etc. Would be more envious and hateful, whereas some retained more of their living selves in death, more mindful that these are people just like they are, only still living. In myth/fantasy, being dead but in undeath is considered painful/unnatural, driving most spirits mad, thats why in alot of these stories spirits are angry/mindless.

    • @hangebza6625
      @hangebza6625 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rexaxis3450 not quite. Myths are full of stories were the spirits of ones ancestors look after one, or protect the household in general. Similarly other spirits could also be appeased and turned to helping people out on many issues.
      Similarly there were also many stories in which the dead were indifferent about the living as long as they were not disturbed or offended.
      Indeed that the dead envy the living is not that common a trend. Especially in those regions/beliefs where the afterlife was seen as favorable, or simply as another plain were the dead naturally belong. That the undead envy the living by default is more of a recent development. Yes harmful spirits existed earlier too, but it was often to correct some wrong or offense, or if they went mad for some reason. This maddness could result in envious behaviour, e.g. the ghost of a grieving mother stealing children. But again that was not the default.
      Even in AoS there are many accounts of neutral and benevolent undead, who evaded Nagashs influence. Like Cities of Sigmar in Shyish, were the dead and living may fight side by side. Or inhabitants of those underworlds not under control by Nagash.
