Love listening to Magic talk about Bird.. These 2 men changed the NBA.. Hands down. What is so amazing about Bird though he wanted the challenge of a great defender.. he would ask for someone to defend him..

I was a bad boys fan although I loved Larry Bird and the story that Isaiah Thomas is telling absolutely broke my heart as a teenager. I could not believe it happened. It was like a daydream. I remember exactly where I was when it happened watching the game thinking we were going to win the championship and Larry Bird broke my heart over and over and over. Love you, Larry Bird.

Larry Bird WON The Shootout Contest THREE YEARS IN A ROW ............ He was voted MVP .....THREE YEARS IN A ROW ..... He out Hustled, out worked and Out Passed and Out Shot - especially in the clutch - all his career. THE BEST PERIOD!
Bill Russel won FIVE NBA MVPs, including three in a row. He won ELEVEN NBA Championships in 13 years. He out hustled, out rebounded, out defensed and out worked everyone. THE BEST PERIOD.
And the story of how they became friends, and then when Magic got the bad news how Larry was one of the few to be there for him ... they did a lot of each other. Magic made Larry likeable to a large crowd which otherwise would probably have not given him a foot in the door. Larry was of course the one up to Magic's ability, and it is arguable to say and then some. Whichever camp you're in you must admit the one would not have been as memorable without the other ... I get so damn tired of hearing that Bird was not athletic!! Anyone who can get his spot on the floor against the great players he played against time and again was athletic. He certainly could jump. See highlights of his dunks or blocks. He only jumped when needed. How about jumping into the air spinning in the air to square up to the basket and draining his shot.

You would have had to be there to understand how good Bird was, just like you had to be there to know Jordan is the greatest player ever. People never talk about Bird's actual skills. He took a last place Celtic team to first place in the division. The same team from the year previous, before McHale, before Parrish, before Dennis Johnson. In Bird's first 3 years he won Rookie of the year, MVP. and a Championship. In his next 4 years he won 2 more MVPs and 2 more Championships. In his first 3 years with the Celtics he led the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and finished 2nd in assists. In the next 3 years he led the Celtics in scoring, assists, steals, and finished 2nd in rebounds. And you want to compare this guy to Kevin Durant. I have to say.. the only player I've ever heard that Larry Legend did not like .. was Laimbeer.. a Dirty Player.. Larry would trash talk anyone on the court.. but it wasn't out of dislike or hate.. It was to get the edge.. but Laimbeer.. he had no respect for. Say want you want about Larry Joe.. but I think we all will agree that he is a Legend in basketball. Magic and Larry changed the whole NBA..
The thing about Larry Bird is that he wasn't spectacularly athletic in a *"Look at Me Showing Off, I'm Going to be the Highlight of the Game"* fashion. What he was was blue-collar, extraordinarily athletic, in a quiet, just get the job done, every single second of every single minute, with the least amount of expended energy necessary; of every game that he played in.
“I hated the Celtics” that is the best compliment you can give them. I used to hate the Lakers too and only because they were so damn good !!! What I liked about the Celtics back then was they had a mostly white team and a Black coach. I thought that was great. They broke every racist stereotype.

As you can see all races have prejudice.
That was early in the fourth quarter. Bird had 52 points and he just missed a layup as he threw an elbow at Irving. If he hadn't of had that fight he could have scored sixty some or maybe seventy!
And That Old Man Hit Bird 🦅 wit that Tommy Hearns Jab F… Bird Up Moses Rushed the Whole Team Parrish told the Story not to long ago saying Larry Got what He Deserved For Being Disrespectful too DOC
Isaiah is right. I never noticed, after he steals the ball hes on his toes until he passes.
I'm taking bird over LeBron everyday of the week and three times on Sunday.
Absolutely and I agree with you!!!
Both of yall need to go for a drug test!
@@vladalexandru7863 I seen Larry Bird play LeBron James isn't better than he is. And I passed my latest drug test.lol
4:15 did Matt Barnes just drop the hard R?
Larry the GOAT
That was the same type of an event like 1978 Daytona 500
Everyone remember where you were
Who's hands are those @ 5:03?? They don't look human...
It was an even choke fest. In my opinion. I saw that game. Doc held it down ...
During those days you were supposed to hate Larry 😔...Chuck, Ziek, Nance, Magic b4 MJ
Price is priceless
"Larry Legend" 🏀
The thing about Larry Bird is that he wasn't spectacularly athletic in a *"Look at Me Showing Off, I'm Going to be the Highlight of the Game"* fashion. What he was was blue-collar, extraordinarily athletic, in a quiet, just get the job done, every single second of every single minute, with the least amount of expended energy necessary; of every game that he played in.
Imagine if White golfers talked about Tiger Woods like this.
Larry Legend! I’m 52 I remember Bird in his prime! Boy he could back up every word of his shit talking!
Bird never talked trash to doctor again after that day
“When you gonna let people know you a black guy from Indiana”🤣🤣
I remebervbird from Indiana st and Arkansas in the ncca tournament beating the hogs by few points
I hate them saying he wasnt athletic
Several ex Spurs on commentary😊
Two of your players are holding him and you decide to throw 3 jabs? Did that make you feel like a man?
Dr J made me break 🤩
Yeah I've heard every one
Funny how Dr. J remembers it.
Yep...the original...now,thats our catlynn Clark...she deserves respect...
“I hated the Celtics” that is the best compliment you can give them.
I used to hate the Lakers too and only because they were so damn good !!!
What I liked about the Celtics back then was they had a mostly white team and a Black coach.
I thought that was great. They broke every racist stereotype.
Love how Dr. J downplayed larry Whooping his ass all game. Nice try dr...larry owned you
That was on the front of the paper
you grab your OWN teamates not the other
Larry was gonna kick docs ass if Chuck didn't hold him
I love black people but we think everybody is scared of us and think we're the only ones that can play basketball
I always believed Erving was a pos, and now I know it for sure
