    This video is absolutely great! I tried this over the holidays, and even on steep slopes it really helps to control speed and keeping tight turns. Thanks for a lot of great videos, but this is one of the very best.

    This is probably the video with the best advice you guys have! :)
    I was stuck to intermediate, but I went back to basics with your advice, and three days out on the board brought me above my previous level.
    Thanks guys :)

    Great advice man. I went out today and applied these techniques and felt my mind and body click. I was really pressing into my turns and having fun. I thought snowboarding would be me standing up and cruising down but I love that it’s an active experience. I’m looking for that extra activity to keep my body working.
    Thanks!

    After a year, of my first ever Sbnowboarding in 2021, this video was one of the few that helped so much in my control of the Snowboard when it was steep.
    Can’t believe after a year, I forgot this key tips until o watched back this video. It’s a gold video to keep.
    I did all the hard works today 2022 all because I forgot this key tips.

    So good! At the end of my second ever week snowboarding and this video changed the game completely. Even when you can’t make perfect carves like this and you skid a bit the technique still reinforces good body position and rail commitment. Good work people!

      There is another vid from Neev he talked about what caused skidding instead of nice S turn (carving). it's the rider's putting his weight too forward. I tried his fix and it works for a charm.

    Very useful video! I had difficulty in comprehending what I was doing wrong as I have no problems with my toe turns but my heel turns always end up with my board being perpendicular to the slope and I either stop or make a wrong turn by sliding my back foot! Now I know what I should and should not do! Thanks guys!

    Hi Duncan!
    What’s the purpose of such pressing, difference between standard vertical work (ups and downs)?
    Thanks

    • @MC-tm2uy
      @MC-tm2uy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pressing down your edge is to make sure to create pressure on the carve and letting your side cut do the work, so the side cut should edge out the thin line, but as you press down the board will have a equal force reacting to that so your knees bending and the up and down motion is to help absorb that force. Notice how he only go down as he initiating a new turn (which is where you pressing down on the edge) and as he is finishing the turn (less pressing down and getting ready to switch edge) he is slowly standing up

  • @michaeloas8935
    @michaeloas8935 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. Is this just for carving? Or can be used for sliding turns as well?

    • @MC-tm2uy
      @MC-tm2uy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you pressing down you will actually cause the board to go into a carve

    You actually want to get lower a little bit before you initiate the turn. Basically what Duncan does but getting low just about a second before... that way you can go up and down a little smoother and time it just right w the turn.

    There's something I still don't understand - in the beginners course we're talking about decompression during the turn and compression while going for that turn. Here we switch the other way around. Why? When do we use the one and when do we usethe other?

    • @SnowboardAddiction
      @SnowboardAddiction  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the Learn to ride series: 'Weighting And Unweighting Your Turns | Learn To Snowboard With Rio - EP11' Nev is talking about weighting and unweighting your board Between edge to edge transitions - in this video Duncan is explaining how to apply even and consistant pressure to your edge during your turns and when stopping. You would use both of these technqiues as it does not require you to do both at the same time. Nev's is explaining the initiation of the turn - going from edge to edge, Duncan is explaining how to keep consistant pressure on your edge during the turn :)

  • @gomir123

    • @kalmancsandli6590
      @kalmancsandli6590 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, this is the down unweighting movement.

    • @adam1887
      @adam1887 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kalmancsandli6590 - No, that's not correct. He's unweighting the board by coming up between the turns. What he's demonstrating is a classic up-unweighted intermediate sliding/skidded turn.
