Listening to Tony talk about the music, his exposure to gogo and gleaning from the Godfather of gogo Chuck Brown...May He rest in power. I was captivated by the story Tony told, and wholeheartedly agree with what he shared here. Wikipedia says gogo originated during the mid-60s to late-70s. I grew up on gogo as a kid in the 80's and Trouble was always one of my favorite groups out of the big 4 at the beginning. I love Chuck, Essence, Junk, and NEG. It was something powerful and commanding listening to Big Tony rapping, setting the tone, hyping the crowd. But as a percussionist I love Trouble Funk groove and can honestly say nobody did it like them 💯 Much love and blessings to you Big Tony. Salute and flowers to the legend Big Tony. I grew up during the BYB / NEG/ JYB 90s gangsta gogo era but I can easily see Trouble's influence on them 3 and the hiphop genre as well. DC is a cliquish city and the envious folks link up to keep certain other folks limited and surrounded. That is one reason this artform never got it's full recognition worldwide.He made some great points.
