How to Tune the Acuvance Xarvis ESC with the TAO3 Program Controller

- We recently picked up a used drift chassis - which has an Acuvance Xarvis ESC. Many folks see the Acuvance ESCs as the best you can get for RC drifting, so we were very curious to get into the ESC and really see what makes it to special. To really unlock all of the performance - you need the dedicated programmer.
In this video, I show you how to program the Xarvis ESC using the TAO3 programmer.

Another great informative video for us all,was awesome to see your teammate!!!
Thank you for this! After watching the full 😊unnecessarily complex process of using the Tao programmer, it makes the 4pm/7px s bus programming a lot more attractive.
Ha! Yes sir! Glad I could help save you some $$$! :)
Maybe using the sbus should be my next video...
I use the 7pxr and sbus programming… life is so much easier with this setup. Pull into a parking spot, make some changes, keep driving. I never have to pull my car off the track
If all that is yours that’s a big upgrade in the drift class for you. Great products and very informative video. Thanks Troy!
Big upgrade....??? Certainly from a $$$ standpoint...but from performance, we will see!
Definitely look into tuning via s.bus/transmitter...very convent at the track. I think you get access to everything but the A.I tuning and ability to save profiles.
I should! I agree!!
According to the Acuvance paperwork, the only way to get ALL of the tuning options is with the programmer - but for most folks, SBUS is probably just fine.
Thanks for the video! You gave me even more reasons to stick with the HobbyWing XD10 at this point, tbh. One would expect a programming card that costs as much as the ESC itself to be less buggy than that, and _not_ use proprietary connectors...
You are right! Some folks love these Acuvance products...but I do not fully get it.
RoadsideRC owning an Acuvance ? Can't wait to get your impression on it!
More to come! Are you an Acuvance fan?
@@RoadsideRC I’m using an xr10 pro stock, next car will have an xd10, just because I had a good price on the combo. There is so many settings to play with, most people don’t change anything(other than boost and turbo) and call an esc better than an other based on default setup.
Hey Troy. Still watching my friend. Boy I tell ya, you sure do cover all the bases. Well done man. :) From Gyro's to Wheel weights. lol To crawlers... You really DO Cover Crawling trailing racing and Drifting. ;) lol Oh and btw what a cool programming card... YIKES!!
Glad to hear from you! I have caught a few of your shorts recently. Still love the scenery!
Yes - one fancy programmer for sure. Hope I get to use it more than once, or twice...
You can unplug the fan on most ESCs for future reference. My dog actually likes the sound. He was singing to it, lol.
Of course. I just didn't even think about it.
Awesome video troy . Will you be doing a review on this car? I have the same one but still have to build it
I am going to get more experience with it first - then will do some type of comparison video vs other chassis that I have.
@@RoadsideRCthat sounds like a good plan. I actually bought this one because I wanted an adjustable wheel base. But kinda curious what you think of it. My first one impression. Was a little overwhelming because everything is adjustable. And will make it hard for a beginner like me
@@lexeg1 OH my! I 100% agree that this is NOT for a beginner at all!
Hi boss how you make it work boss I’m having a problem linking mine? Please thanks
It did take multiple tries to link it. Keep at it.
I just picked up a Xarvis (used) with a ZeroS and wanted to ask if you can check if the MT12 can adjust it like a Futaba? Thank You!
So far, I have not been able to do that. I think it might be capable, but will require programming smarter than I am!
First is Futaba GYD550 gyro, now is Acuvance ESC, i wonder what is next 😏 Futaba CD700 servo? Hehe..
I notice many drifters experience slow traction gain after exiting a hairpin or after switching direction. That cause the lead car to pull away and lose the proximity. Correct setup on boost will help to solve the issue greatly.
I saw today that Futaba now has a CT501 low-profile servo! :)
I tried CT500, CT700 and CT701. They are great, but not plug and play. You have to tune it in order to work.
To me, CD700 is a true plug and play drift dedicated servo 👍🏻
@@billylim127I bought cd700 recently, pairing with futaba 10px , futaba 404 receiver, acuvance xx , gyd550, with sbus system
But unfortunately I wasn’t able to read through 10px wireless,
I had to connect wire from servo to 10 px in order to read/ make any changes. Do you have any idea what was wrong?
A few reasons for such issue.
1) Transmitter software version is outdated.
2) Double check the servo connection to the gyro is plug to the correct slot.
@@billylim127 transmitter updated to version 11.0 E,
Servo connected to gyro, and go to slot 1 on the receiver
Updated the tao to 2.0 won’t connect to my esc keeps saying retry
Oh man. That is rough. Good luck with it!
Do the scale reflex hydra flex deck swap . You won’t regret it
Compared to this deck? What difference did you see?
My Hobby Wing esc wont let me update it. Its the 120. Any help from anyone would be helpful.
I honestly rarely ever try to update the software on the ESCs. I figure it is a risk to bricking it.
@@RoadsideRC did a good job with that one. I know programming and updating are a bit different. My HW won't let me change anything on it til it's updated. I may just get a new one instead.
And this is y i like my hobbywings😂
My HW won't let me "update" it 🤔
@@storyracing387 what one u got
@mikeprater7888 the 120
@@storyracing387 the 10bl120 doesn't update
@@mikeprater7888 well that explains a lot ty
You have your turbo and boost flip flopped from what most people run. A good rule of thumb is to figure out the maximum total timing you want to run the put 2/3 of that in boost and the last 1/3 in turbo. Since you're running 40 degrees total I would run 27 boost and 13 turbo
Interesting! I wonder what the "why" is behind that guideline.
I have never adhered to that guideline and like how my cars drive.
I can test it and see what it feels like, but am rather a stubborn, so tend to distrust these types of guidelines.
@@RoadsideRC maybe it's from typical personal preference or driving style. I, personally, also prefer having more boost and less turbo. Makes the car less jumpy and less likely to spin-out due to too much turbo during large sweepers.
Should have unplugged fan for the video, that thing was screamin I had a hard time hearing you!
That fan is obnoxiously loud!!!
And for some reason....I never thought to unplug it.
For a 180$ ESC you have to buy a 175$ programmer to make it work properly ?? 😵
Yes! Or use SBUS through a Futaba controller. Pretty wild, huh?
interesting programming the esc good guide
*🥸full viewed start to finish💯Au👍like for you 🎅🦘*
Thanks Billy!
