Without spoiling anything, I HIGHLY recommend that you pursue Jaheira's questline to its end sooner rather than later, don't leave it until last like I almost did my first playthrough :D
Tbh I actually love how the bit with Karlach went, it’s so fitting for her character that she would be the one in the party to accidentally get arrested and then just stumble upon and save someone important, it’s such a unique way of going about freeing Florrick, it makes me appreciate this game even more to see things go so differently from most peoples playthroughs and it’s also why I like your videos, I feel like so many people that I’ve watched play this game would just revert a save but instead you go with it and even make up your own story and actually role play.
This episode was amazing. Insane length (must have taken a morbillion years to upload, like with all the others), and the dedication to roleplay was really fun. I love how open you are to capitalising on the wacky and wild situation you may, or may not, find yourself in. I'm glad you're still enjoying the game because, despite putting in countless hours myself, this playthrough has been just as fun.
18:06 is a great tribute to the carrier pigeons of the world wars. Intelligent and brave birds, which have been long forgotten and are now just seen as flying street-rats here in Britain, after all of their service. Very sad
i love how karlach gets drunk and then just wakes up in prision. there's a whole drunk montage missing here where she would sing and throw things and punch people and set things on fire while on fire herself and this happening in the background while mapo and friends watch the show.
That Scratch quest if you are hearthless monster and give him in and when you talk to him its a Saddest Dialog in entire gaming history, i watched it on YT, it broke my hearth
That drunk amulet has always seemed pretty useless to me but it might actually come in handy once the Drunken Master monk subclass comes out in January. Also it's hilarious that you got that effect of the hooch on the first try. Meanwhile the monk is immune to poison
3:19:45 Always said since my 1st run, there should've been a 6th option there to let Wyll decide himself. I mean, yes, it is a common RPG trope of the main character making all the decisions, and it is very common to have binary choice in the RPG when the main character picks for companion in the companion specific quest. But, BG3 designed otherwise, at least in most cases, and for ANY other companion, unless they specifically ask player-character, and not asked themselves, there is always an option to give away your agency with an option "keep silent", "allow companion to lead", "see how it plays out", most importantly "trust companion" in which case approval/hidden points system will play out based on your interactions with companion, and they'll make their own decision that might even surprise the player. Like, cmon, in this case it is basically implementing the same mechanic as approval/Nightsong points for Shadowheart and giving an option "let Wyll decide", and barely even a new voiced line would be needed. When playing as Wyll ofc I choose myself, but when Wyll as a companion .... I have my guess what he would choose himself based on the interactions with PC and approval threshold, but we'll never know.
it definitely is something that irks me, larian really needed to give wyll more love in the writers room. i know we can chalk up most problems due to needing to rewrite his character and all, and i honestly like current wyll quite a bit, but he deserves the same choice the other companions get in their quests. all i can hope for is mods to help out in that regard.
@@cealens In this case, I'm talking specifically about one dialogue choice and nothing else. It is a very small thing overall, and has nothing to do with "love of the writers room". If someone into modding can add the mentioned mechanic and option, that would be cool, but it would need some work for sure (the easiest way is to implement an option and make it based on approval threshold number, and binary branch that would lead to Wyll picking one of the pre-existing options). His character does deserve to have this option, and that's all I'm talking about. Honestly, I'm not into "Larian hates Wyll" or "re-writes" discussions at all. I think they are communities afterthought, poorly formulated gripes with something not quite there. For instance, not many mention an actor change from EA, and what were reasons for it, right? Certainly not trying to start "Wyll discussion" by this comment, every party needs its Kaidan Alenko or Jacob Taylor (daddy issues, right?), I guess, and for what its worth, Wyll is a much better character than both of them combined, or at least Jacob. I like this version of the character a lot, and not like we had the full character that was re-written. On the contrary, the EA version was barely even a companion, only some cool concept, and even in EA in didn't make sense and worked properly, and no one cared about Wyll (in general, I'm sure a few dozen people somewhere did). In the end Wyll suffered from cutting War College area, but even then, you can clearly see, that there is no active character arc, and that's not a bad thing, because he IS actually, out of all the companions, just normal stable good dude with some personal problems like any normal dude (and for party-based RPG it is boring in comparison, he is squeezed by good-aligned Tav, Gale and partially Astarion, and only works when played as origin character himself for a "conventionally good" playthrough) A more interesting topic is that they don't have a typical "writer's room", as far as I gathered, when it comes to characters/companions, or even writing by committee. Overall writing and editing is lead writer's responsibility (Adam Smith), and for BG3 for the first time it isn't Swen, which is a good thing, even tho he participated a lot in everything as far as I can tell. But for characters it is Bioware-like approach with individual writers responsible for character cranked to 11/10. Each character more of an auteur creation rather than collective one, with heavy involvement of the actor playing the character in actually figuring out and maybe even changing the character (like Neil Newbon figured out Astarion as a character with Stephen Rooney, not jest read some lines). Wyll was written by Kevin VanOrd, who also wrote Lae'zel, in my opinion the best character in the game with the best arc, so it's not like they lacked talent for Wyll.
gortash is pretty interesting as a villian for me for how open he is with his evil plans, i kinda love it how he is actually 100% for switching sides and is like yo we can rule together. deifnitely makes his opportunist nature shine through haha. still, siding with him is an evil move, and i play bg3 to live out my power fantasy of helping everyone and making the world better, so i never side with him xD
i think it makes a lot of sense for durge since they are basically friends anyway even if they did lose their memories which is why i also think gortash is fairly cooperative to the player character in general though he obviously likes durge the best i was thinking of even allying with him as durge even for a redeemed playthrough tav? not so much lol though i'd work with him over Orin
Wow this Karlach journey was so funny! Amazing!! Gods, I have this drink in my bag, but forgot to try it myself>< also, very glad you’ve got a lot of Astarion’s approval for being a little more chaotic)
Hoot's Hooch (which got Karlach thrown in jail) didn't affect yo because you're a monk. the drink can have many different effects. hadn't seen that one yet, an amusing surprise
Act 3 is amazing. It's huge and there's so much to explore and the level if freedom to do just that is amazing. A year and about 800 hours played and I still am surprised by things people find I didn't know about.
Yeah, Karlach's dialogue after Wyll's deal with Mizora has been bugged for a while now (I should probably specify, it's just that particular interaction that bugged, nothing else beyond that). Though it's such a small inconsequential bug that I don't think anyone's reported it.
That little stuck glitch when jumping has got to be mod related. Never seen it happen before. My 1d12 inspiration does bug exactly the same as yours though.
same, 1d12 bardic inspiration specifically has been like this for a while now, I had this while playing as bardlock Wyll on HM months back what is more interesting, is that inspiration is given to the character who rolls, you can use it as a bonus for other rolls/saving throws, it just doesn't apply automatically when selected from companion for the first one never saw this jump thing he gets as well
My first character never had the 1d12 bardic inspiration glitch. You get it from Alfira as a bard after moonrise. I haven’t had a bard since the first game.
@@itme7685 Ah, so that's where it is from. I thought it might be so in my other post here. It looks like the game doesn't understand that Bardic Inspiration can go higher than d10, probably because the max character level is 12 by default.
I should add that my bard was the main character and consequently I rarely got to use it in dialogue check because well it was normally me doing dialogue and you can’t inspire yourself. I did use it though and never had the glitch.
That is one thing I loved about the first Fallout game, you had only so many days to get the mission done. I think they need to put time restraints on many not all quests. So that if you do not manage your time correctly, you miss out on some things.
I don't know, I like the freedom to take my time and explore the world even though it doesn't make a ton of sense story wise, there are quite a few time based quests too, rescuing Florrick is a perfect example
i really love gortash, i don't care i wish we got more content with him as well as orin, they are great but sadly we don't see as much of them as i would want would have been better if they were more spread out in act 1 and 2 or at least 2 but that's a personal preference
I will say, I definitely love that you are romancing Karlach as a Male Gnome for...reasons. You'll see. Or maybe you have since this seems to have been officially posted a week ago!
1:17:20 What the hell?! Never seen this interaction, and never seen the conversation with a skull as well, probably because never drank the Hooch. Wild And playing basically the full segment as Karlach, including interaction with Gortash through the Steel Watcher, was just great. Since playing DOS2 back in the day, I really like the idea of a party of almost equal members, that you can split and do your own thing, or just lead as one of them at any moment. The best thing about villains was said by Emperor in Dream Visitor form that it is "an elder brain enslaved by mere mortals". They are not stupid eeevil, but they are humanely selfish and short-sighted, and for all the Gortash smarts, in my opinion, at least what I thought during 1st playthrough, their actual plan is insane. He literally was like "How do we command everyone, so there would be order and law? Ah, yes, an enslaved elder brain as a command-sending unit". It has so many flaws in it specifically because they are only natural to human (what if someone loses their stone, what if someone decides to rule alone, what if the crown, that they barely understand, fails, what then?) If you're interested, there is still a cute little quest in Sword Coast Couriers if you talk to Danzo (he waved at you, but you were pursuing that animal abuser lol). Ofc, there are so much to do, and that's the act to inevitably miss stuff, for various reasons, but just saying, if interested ;) (same with Ironhand, High Harper quest, the whole area in general which is not even the city... ok, I'll probably shut up lol)
54:29 so my guess for whats causing the random drop halfway through jumping is because youre jumping too close to a wall and for some reason the game thinks youre jumping into it. That's what I've noticed for all the times that's happened at least.
Seeing him play through DOS 1 and 2 would be great. Dont expect it any time soon. Think he's planning to play through BG 1 and 2 and he said he wants to do a Durge playthrough as well.
Tbf Ive done 2 full playthroughs of the game and never used one either, it just was never really needed and I'm not the type to waste items on every fight, like Mapo I save them all until the end of the game and never use them 😂
Great episod again! It,s so funny , your and my choices in the game are 99% the same. I hade more luck with my face though 😀 I also chose Wills freedom here.
I love your content so much. I hope you are going to do more play throughs. Also please for your sake just get the half illithid mod, then you’ll not hate the way you look 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
I agree that it would be fun to start using other characters for dialogue occasionally instead of exclusively mapo gnome. There’s always the chance for unique character specific dialogue.
I haven't watched the whole episode yet, but regarding the Bardic Inspiration glitch at around 6:28 .. Where do you even get d12 Improved Bardic Inspiration? If you have 10 Bard levels, the Inspiration raises to a d10, which is the maximum in the game unless you have mods that unlock something extra. If it's related to mods, I don't know, but it might also be the reason the game doesn't "recognize" it.
@@Mapocolops Bardic Inspiration gets from d6 to d8 and finally (in this game) d10 at lvl 10. I don't know where you got a d12, though, because that's not normally a part of bard's lvl-up process at this level range, as far as I can remember. Didn't even find a d12 in BG3 wiki. And it seems the game doesn't recognize it either. It might be related to the Alfira thing with helping the kids, but I'm not sure that would raise your Bardic Inspiration to higher than what the game normally allows. Brilliant episode, btw :) The Karlach episode was a first for me too, and didn't know Hooch can do that to ya, lol. EDIT: I see the d12 was answered by other ppl.
I guess that plan of sticking to one objective worked out as expected…episodes like this are actually really frustrating for me as a viewer. I wish you would just follow the path the game lays out for you.
One of these days I wont skip Astarion and his bs, but it is not this day. I swear, I never had such a visceral reaction to anyone. I literally wanted to use this playthrough to check out what's happening with him, but I can't. Such an anoying voice and character.
Lol, I'm glad to know someone else gets irritated by him. His only redeeming quality is his comedic reactions and quips. But, he's to selfish and sniveling for my tastes.
all this when he won the award multiple times for best performance lol i guess to each their own but he won it for a reason, his personal quest performance especially one of the best things i've seen in a game period like him or not i feel like a lot of men love evil women but when it's another man who isn't lawful good some have problems with it not saying only men dislike him because i know some women but it's just food for thought that being said, it's up to the player to pick the route he goes down like shadowheart his 'arrogance' is a mask if you're analyzing his story, many people do this if you get down to the bones of his character you realize he acts this way because he's free for the first time, he never got to have a 'choice' before and even now as much as he acts superior he usually will do what tav asks for example, he says he doesn't want to drink that one ladies (forgot her name) blood but he does it anyway because he thinks he has to because he's still in that mentality of a 'slave', this is what he tells a romanced tav (which he breaks up if you do this, but he tells you this if you don't have him do this because it signifies you see him as a person, not an object to get what you want like cazador uses him) lots of his nuance is hidden behind romance and even asking him to take the big tadpole and pressing him until the very end not of course a lot of it should not be hidden behind that but it's just what happens in these games, characters will open up the more they like you and even more if you're romantic so if you want to truly understand him, watch someone who romances him aka most any woman playing this game LOL (but on the flip end most every man playing will romance shadowheart so there is that.. not all but a vast majority. they are both good looking with bad boy/bad girl personas.. go figure)
Without spoiling anything, I HIGHLY recommend that you pursue Jaheira's questline to its end sooner rather than later, don't leave it until last like I almost did my first playthrough :D

Brilliant episode, btw :) The Karlach episode was a first for me too, and didn't know Hooch can do that to ya, lol.
EDIT: I see the d12 was answered by other ppl.
@@tarvisantabustathe d12 is a thing, I had it on my bard/warlock character
Bets on who you think his imposter will be?
I think it will be Gale since Gale isn’t in his party currently
***SPOILERS***
For Mapo’s sake, I hope it’s not Halsin who’s the imposter 😢
I guess that plan of sticking to one objective worked out as expected…episodes like this are actually really frustrating for me as a viewer. I wish you would just follow the path the game lays out for you.
Lighten up then and learn to enjoy a unique journey which of course, is the path I choose btw, not the one “laid out for me”.
you should play nier automata mapo
can't wait but I think it might be sometime soon as I saw nier replicant on patreon pool when it lost to ghost of tsushima
But, he's to selfish and sniveling for my tastes.
all this when he won the award multiple times for best performance lol
i guess to each their own but he won it for a reason, his personal quest performance especially one of the best things i've seen in a game period like him or not
i feel like a lot of men love evil women but when it's another man who isn't lawful good some have problems with it
not saying only men dislike him because i know some women but it's just food for thought
that being said, it's up to the player to pick the route he goes down like shadowheart
his 'arrogance' is a mask if you're analyzing his story, many people do this
if you get down to the bones of his character you realize he acts this way because he's free for the first time, he never got to have a 'choice' before and even now as much as he acts superior he usually will do what tav asks
for example, he says he doesn't want to drink that one ladies (forgot her name) blood but he does it anyway because he thinks he has to because he's still in that mentality of a 'slave', this is what he tells a romanced tav (which he breaks up if you do this, but he tells you this if you don't have him do this because it signifies you see him as a person, not an object to get what you want like cazador uses him)
lots of his nuance is hidden behind romance and even asking him to take the big tadpole and pressing him until the very end not
of course a lot of it should not be hidden behind that but it's just what happens in these games, characters will open up the more they like you and even more if you're romantic
so if you want to truly understand him, watch someone who romances him aka most any woman playing this game LOL (but on the flip end most every man playing will romance shadowheart so there is that.. not all but a vast majority. they are both good looking with bad boy/bad girl personas.. go figure)
