After a slumber of twelve millennia, the Demon Empire awakens to seize control of the Earth. Raideen, the giant robot-like protector of the lost continent of Mu, senses the evil presence and awakens within its golden pyramid. A young Japanese boy, Akira Hibiki, is alerted about the Demon Empire by a mysterious voice and rushes to the pyramid. It is soon revealed that Akira is a descendant of the ancient people of Mu who must help Raideen save the Earth. Akira enters the robot by accelerating his motorcycle to a high speed and then throws himself upward, allowing a beam from the robot to pull him into the robot's head and into an internal cockpit from where he assumes control of Raideen. Akira is aided by Mari Sakurano, who happens to be the daughter of a prominent scientist, and his friends from the soccer club. Half way through the story the Demon Empire's master, Barao, is released from his statue prison and intends to finish what he started twelve thousand years earlier.
Never fails to fascinate me. . .I'm enjoying this vintage show! It has something new with each episode!

…ふと思ったんだけど〝ガンテ〟と〝ドローメ〟ってバイストンウェルで空飛んでても違和感無い気が…
ライディーンが大好きで、ライディーンに影響されてラーゼフォンを生んだ出渕裕が、ダンバインのイメージイラストで、バイストンウェルにガンテを出したり、オーラボムのドロやグナンは明らかにドローメのようなデザインだから、如何に影響が濃かったかが判る。
Thank you so much I am 49 years old and had never seen the anime. My dad got me the three Mattel Shogun warriors, and I just acquired a Mattel Raideen. If I would have grown up watching this anime I would never have gotten rid of my robots back when I was in high school, thank you for sharing these all the best to you.
Hey Ron I remember when the toys hit the American market but my friends amd I were buying the toys made in Japan out of die-cast metal. The shogun warriors debuted at toysrus in the late 70s amd I remember them!
Hello a a never see that animation but it's very close voltous 5 , geta robot, or grendaizer in Europe his 1983- 86 the other animation iam 42 now thank you greeting from Greece 💙🇬🇷💐
Raideen was the only one I didn't get. I remember looking at the little pamphlet that came with the other Shogun Warriors and seeing him. I had hoped I'd get him for as a present eventually, but it never happened. Those were some magical times as a kid thanks to Star Wars and Shogun Warriors toys. Endless hours of fun and imagination.

I was 5 years old, living in Oahu, and this was my favorite show, along with the Five Rangers (GoRangers). Raideen stands proudly on my mantel, to this day. Thank you so much for posting! :D

Yusha Raideen or Brave Raideen used to come on TV Saturday nights on channel 47 or 48. It had subtitles. I have the complete series on DVD but It don't have subtitles.
Yeah finding subs is difficult. I only have the first 26 episodes with subs. I have a greater appreciation for the amount of work it takes to add subs to any movie or film. It's painstaking work with very little thanks or appreciation

プリンス・シャーキンはシャアの祖先っぽいイメージ。
そーいや富野ロボってザンボット、イデオン、∀、Gレコと過去の超科学によって作られたオーパーツって設定が多いけど、ライディーンが元祖か。武器も含めたらトリトンのオリハルコンもあるけど。
安彦良和ワールドは巨神ゴーグよりライディーンの初期で堪能したい私

アニメーションとして見ていたと言うより、古事記やギリシャ神話の様な神話の伝承物語としての記憶があった様に思えます。殊に光子をエネルギーとして存在する素体ロボットであるライディーンが窮地に陥るや現れ出たる神の鳥、ゴッドバードに形質変換する辺りは普通の子供向けSFアニメと言うよりライディーンによる御利益の方が近似値的に高かった様に記憶しています。確かこのアニメの影響で信心深い母とか、神社仏閣へお参りしてもこれはありがたいんだと考える様になりました。もう小学生の頃に見たアニメですがいまでも新鮮でやはり神秘性のなせる技でしょうね。安彦良和さんは、遠い未来でアリオンも作品化してますが、やっぱりこの作品の影響が大きいと思います。

まあ後半に長浜さんと交代して以降長浜ロマンシリーズとして続いていくフォーマットを踏襲していくことになる
うちの家庭は厳しく、当時大好きだったライディーンの超合金を買ってもらえなかった🤣
金持ちの同級生は買ってもらい、凄くうらやましかった記憶が・・😂
初めての超合金がライディーンだった。
お気に入りだったが、ゴッドバード用のガワは取り外し式にして欲しかったな。

CS放送の特番で神谷氏と富野由悠季がライディーンについて対談していた時に番組途中で監督降板した件を富野由悠季は「悔しかったが番組を辞めずに各話演出として残り、長浜監督の演出論を盗んでやろうと現場で歯を食いしばっていた」と語ってる。ガンダムがヒットして名前が売れる前の富野由悠季はいろいろ苦労していたらしい
