Many may not know Daniel Boone had a Military Ship named after him. That was the USS Daniel Boone SSBN 629. I served on this Submarine in the 1970’s along with my brother. I love your channel. Daniel fought with my 5th great grandfather, Col John Field at the Battle of Point Pleasant where Col John was killed by Indians. His son, Ezekiel Henry Field joined Daniel at Ft. Boonesborough. Ezekiel Henry Field was killed at the Battle of Blue Lick. I am for sure they knew each other well.

Lincoln's father was one of the largest landowners in his county but Lincoln's left because of the constant lawsuits and no clear property titles. So the Lincoln family sold and it wasn't at full price and move to Indiana and started over. That is probably one of the reasons why Boone left for Missouri as well.
Actually it was moved there by the current owners. Originally it was closer to Hwy 68 and was cladded at one time. It was supposed to be torn down but when they removed the boards they discovered that it was an old log cabin.
Yes sir! Unfortunately we found this out after the video was made. We plan to do a supplementary video with some folks from the local historical society.

Thanks for the history. Back in Daniels early days he came from PA and apparently there is a branch off his siblings to myself. My great great grandmother was Amelia Boone. I’ve always been intrigued by his history. Living close to MO now I’ve been able to visit his initial grave site and homestead during the Missouri days. One particular story stuck out in that he would go on a long hunting trip and ended up not returning home for a few years. I imagine that might not have gone over well with the rest of the family!
I'm from, and currently live, in Nicholas County. So cool to see this on TH-cam! I've passed by this cabin hundreds and hundreds of times but never been to it. Always wondered what it was like, thanks for going there and showing it to the world 👍👏
Can imagine how Mahala Boone and Daniel kept in contact while he lived there... as Mahala was married into the Dishman family. The Dishman Cemetery is still located in Kentucky and there is a reunion every year from what I have been told! Hope to go back soon and see all the family members that I never knew existed, of which some I talk to in Facebook at times and have even gotten pictures/stories of Hayes and Dishman's! Families were huge back then and they lived very small cabins back then to save heat!
I just read Traces by Patricia L. Hudson. It’s a novel, but it makes you think of her life. She birthed 10 children. Daniel seemed to be absent from his family most of the time…coming home long enough to impregnate Rebecca before he headed off again. She and her children were amazing.
I own property on Iowa Missouri border backed up to state land called Boone Woods . So story is when the state holding was donated to the state of Iowa the Boone ancestors came forth with some kind of provenance that proved this was were Danielle had done some of his last hunting and trapping and possibly stayed for some time . This seems to have possibilities based on what locals have said and things I’ve read . There is also on my property ruins of a town called Tinkerville only found on maps from pre 1900 . Any thoughts, input, enlightenment, or questions are most welcome . Keep up the good work

Maysville is no where near the Kentucky River, it was one of the early major ports on the Ohio River, being the first place that Kentucky corn whiskey was shipped out to New Orleans, & was identified as "Bourbon" whiskey.
My g g g g gfather Isaac Garrison went with Dan to rescue Jemmima from the Shawnee that took her. The Last of the Mohicans was based on this. Isaac died in 1832 age 104 and is buried in Nixa MO.

Boone left NC in a hurry. He owed money to people in the Town of Salisbury, a small town on the Yadkin river. Check it out. Seems Mr. Boone was always one step ahead of the debt collectors. JFYI :)
I did. The claim is bunk. Boone was forced to sell his land at one point to pay debts. As a "long hunter", he would often be away for longer than anticipated, then return to sell pelts and pay off debts that may have been in arrears, but not left unpaid. Revisionist history...

Yes the Skaggs brothers were very important to the settling of the frontier. We hope to make some videos about them soon.
