I love South Indian Saris...my mother has always worn them.I have lovely memories of her wearing them, she always looks so glamorous in them. She grew up in Andhra Pradesh.Of course I adore Hyderabad.Thank you for posting this ancient skill.Jai Bharata. The government must step in to save this living heritage of India.
Kanchi pattu sarees origin (born) was in Andhra Pradesh, Telugu people, Denvangas and Saligers, 2 big weaving groups, who migrated to Kanchi in Tamilnadu......we are proud of our Telugu heritage which is the core of South Indian traditional attire.......then there are Pochampally pattu sarees, Dharmavaram Pattu Sarees, Gadwal pattu sarees to name a few, all belonging to now 2 Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana........the earliest silk(pattu) sarees were Kanchi pattu sarees originated in Andhra Pradesh which are older than Banaras silk sarees..........
The first music from the weaving part which made me cry. even my dad is a weaver in Kumbakonam, the temple city, after him, no one is there to look after weaving business.
M fond of sarees...Hats off to the Weavers hardwork and creativity.I dont know whether they obtained their labour sufficiently or not ?May this art live long....
Radha Krishna I need your permission to post this video on my website so can I. I want to show how our beautiful Indian culture is to other viewers. So can I do so
Price of these sarees does not reflect the amount of hard work going into them. The workers may be making far less money than deserved. For today's India, these sarees should go well over lakhs of rupees. In bombay, delhi kind of places the so called designers sell machine embroidered average fabrics (for salwar kameez, lehnga choli etc.) in lakhs of rupees.
