Wow! Geoff, another beautifully and skillfully composed presentation of the amazing Shetland Islands. While I was happy to learn that you captured this from the "safety" of the shore, I wouldn't have been totally shocked to see you bobbing about in the yellow yak through a few frames. Everytime you present a new location I have to revise my fantasy bucket list. I think the bucket has now evolved into a big barrel. While the power and magnificence of the sea and the Cannon are stunning, I can only imagine how wonderful it must be to paddle the area in appropriate conditions. Thanks for another terrific video, please keep them coming, Mr. Attenborough of kayaking. Take Care.

@@dugeish Ahh, thanks for that. I got a great deal of pleasure in the production and was trying a couple of different techniques within the editing software.
There's nothing wrong with a huge barrel full of dreams, the best bit is ensuring the maximum enjoyment of each one that's chosen.
Yes, the power of nature happening right in front of the eyes is truly awesome and Shetlands magnificent scenery has that profoundly visual effect of reminding us how fragile but beautiful our world is...such a stunning feeling!!!
I have some wonderful footage that I can't wait to edit from the Eshaness kayak trip this year Hillswick to Hamnavoe (around 17miles) absolutely stunning scenery. Sadly I hadn't realised how much video I'd taken on the previous 2 days and ran out of memory card space 😢 🙄🥺🥺🙄🥴 as we approached the Cannon area... I was gutted!! But I have some video of those highlights from a previous trip, only done the other way.
I have an old kayaking friend visiting this week from London, I haven't seen her or paddled with her for over 30 years she's bringing a kayaking friend and were paddling 3 days up Northumberland Borders area with good forecast. So probs Farnes, St Abbs possible Bass Rock but I'll let them choose.
Stay safe & send my love to Cindy xx

@@silentrabbit247 Hi, and thanks for more of your great comments. Absolutely, the paddling is a great part of what we all enjoy, but it's the areas it takes us and everything we experience that create those magnificent adventures to enjoy.
      Lots more to come 💥💯👍

@@calatoruldac Thank you so much Viorel. The Eshaness coastline is wonderful, very rugged as it's shaped and eroded by storms that have travelled over 2000 miles across the Atlantic ocean to finally crash into Shetlands cliffs and coastline.
I've never seen such power from a blowhole, I was amazed !!!
Stay well my friend. Regards Geoff 👍😎

@Paddleclips Thanks Bob, watching at such close quarters and hearing it leaves no surprises as to why Shetland has so many amazing features, with its multitude of Caves, Stacks, Geo's and incredibly long Subterranean tunnels.

I was awarded an MB (E) on the Ramna Stacks trip 😂😂😂

Muckle Flugga because of its absolute remoteness, its the UK's most Northerly Island, with Outstack the most Northerly Rock
Awesome kayaking up there!!! As always, enjoy 😉

Hey Geoff, thanks for the links to some other of your videos. We are getting ready to leave on a holiday, there is no internet where we are going. I will certainly watch those videos when we return. Thanks again really do enjoy watching you and your friends kayaking. Great narration also. Yes I do watch on smart TV. Hi Mr Burke, I just started watching some of your beautiful videos great work. My wife and I are avid paddlers also. We are in Canada in the province of BC. We don’t live near the sea so we do rivers and lakes. Enjoyed your videos so very much well done. Take care from Canada. 🇨🇦

@@Paddleclips Hi Bob and thanks for those wonderful comments. In my book, kayaking is just that, it doesn't need to be salt water under the kayak, fresh is just fine, adverse conditions are also not limited to the sea as we've all seen, especially on your lakes in BC. Even small lakes in our 'Lake District' National Park, it's not uncommon to experience 4 - 5ft waves.
The sea does however, add an extra element of conditions around and through reefs, cliffy headlands that I love and is probably self evident in my video's...it seems like I'm 'wired' that way...some may say 'unwired' 🤣🤣🤣
After paddling over 50 + years and having a real love for surfing, some may also say the salt water has affected the brain cells, I put it all down to time in the boat and getting out regular.
Anyway... I'm starting to ramble, so, please keep enjoying the video's, lots more different trips on the channel, please like each one you think deserves it, I welcome any feedback, share with friends, consider subscribing to be notified of lots of new content coming soon from the multitude of trips so far this year. Thanks again Best Regards Geoff 😊 👍

@@kjflynn3379 Hi KJ, and thanks for your kind words as usual. Absolutely, my insanity wouldn't drive me that far and my primeval self preservation would override any such action 🤣🤣🤣
The Eshaness coastline is breathtakingly magnificent in all aspects... land, air and sea, raw nature at its best, shaped by mother natures fury of over a 2000 mile fetch of unhindered Atlantic storms!
The Drone I use is DJI's Mini 3 Pro Fly More Combo, a very lightweight, small unit ideal for multi day Kayak Camping & Expeditioning. It does remarkably well in stiff winds and produces stunningly stabilised footage in 4K.
I didn't upgrade to the current Mini 4 Pro and DJI has now discontinued mine as its too closely spec'd to the 4.
I'm waiting to see what the rumoured Mini 5 may bring, before I sell this one as its so good to change just yet 👍
Loads more trips video's to edit from this year so far, so stay tuned for more new content.
Cheers and best regards Geoff 😀 😎 👍

I have the earlier version, and hand launch and recover from the kayak (good way to trim your fingernails if your are not careful 😂). Yes, they do work remarkably well in high winds. I think you are a braver man than me to fly out over that, nonetheless! Or perhaps you are looking for an excuse to go buy an upgrade 😂. Joking apart, worth the risk to get these views 😉

    • @geoffburke
      @geoffburke  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@kjflynn3379 Wow! And you say I'm brave !! I'd never have the bottle to hand launch/recover from the kayak and would surely loose it...I'll take my chance in winds and over distance as I'm more confident in the drone than I am my abilities 😂
I hand lunch/recover on land and as you say have trimmed nails & finger ends a few times 😂😂
Are you FB or Messenger? I'll link to some clips over tide races in the Pentland Firth...scary winds for sure at over 2k distance 🥴😳😬
      Where do you live?

    • @kjflynn3379
      @kjflynn3379 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I live in S.Wales, so high tide ranges and the allied high tide flows .. catching a drone by hand, when it is stationary in GPS terms while I am at the mercy of tide+wind just adds to the 'excitement'. Only on one occasion did I worry that I was not going to land it in my hand - I was just about to fly in desparation to the nearest beach when I got finaly got it. My eariler version of the Mini runs off the original wifi and gets 'lost' at ca. 500m ... though of course legally (line of sight etc.) its all but impossible to see at that distance, grey on (usually around here!) grey skies etc.

@@kjflynn3379 Hi KJ, Wow! SW Wales is awesome and as you say, fantastic tidal range and races.
I've done the odd trip down there ...it's really stunning! And I must get around to doing more.
I tend to migrate more towards Scotland's SW, perhaps for more multi day island hopping trips and I have more contacts there too with less distance usually.
I must make the effort and get down your neck of the woods...so much to see!!
Yes, I started with the Phantom 4 Pro then started to try and use on an odd kayak trip but it filled the back hatch barely getting the lid on, then opted for the Mini, Mini 2 and now the 3 Pro. Great for multi day trips and with a good power bank i can manage to cover more than a week on remote camping/expeds.
      Stay Safe! Geoff
