I remember them times as a young child, and grandfather used to tell me about the steel works up by Brierley Hill as used to work there and told me load the stories about what happens there at that time, but unfortunately he hasn’t since past away
Born and raised in Brockmoor (or I should say Brockma), in the 70's/80's, I was proud to say I come from Brockma, Brierley Hill. I now live in Stourbridge, but still very much go through Brierley Hill regularly...and have seen the decline of my once proud Town. It's heartbreaking - and I'm sure those that were born and raised in places such as Dudley, Cradley Heath, Lye (when Lye had proper shops!) and yes, even Stourbridge, which is sadly catching up - if not caught up, in the decline, will all say the same. Brierley Hill market, like the town, is a ghost on its former self - like everywhere close! Like everything, there are reasons, some more controversial then others...but, the decline is all towns has been allowed to happen, and those of us that can remember - and I really don't think it's through rose tainted spectacles, will I'm sure, say the same or similar...
Its a depressing state gone right downhill got ppl there being paid to do jack shit called market attendants maybe if the rent and rates wasnt so much might be better
