    Wow. That was just what I needed today. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the organizing phase trying to get the perfect system and copying other people (for a starting point). I also hadn’t realized that my collection process is holding me up because it’s not easy and it’s not fast. I never know for sure where to put the information so I do exactly what you said. Some of that is because I keep switching systems. Thank you.

    The Collect, Organise, Do diagram with ratios is absolutely brilliant. That is my takeaway thank you! I shall print it and stick it on my wall because I tend to get stuck in the organise section.

    Your point about the collection process really hit hard with me. I am using Todoist like you and I find the collection process (and organization process) is really smooth. This was one of the best vides so far. Really loved the points. I started implementing some of them as I was listening to your video!

      Glad you found it helpful, Neil. And you are so right about the collecting.

    Love it! The collect part ive got down perfectly for years now. Zero friction whatsoever.
    Starting this year ive overhauled my organise and my doing has never been better.
    Thank you Carl!!

    I agree 100% about Notion. I tried using it for a while, but I found myself constantly tweaking the structure and trying to find the perfect setup. It wasted a lot of my time. I’m a simple man, so it’s Evernote, Todoist, and Google Calendar for me!

      That's some good choices, Glen. Let the system help you do the work, and not get in the way.

    Thank you, Carl! I think far too many people put such emphasis on developing the ‘perfect’ system of collecting and organizing that they sabotage their ‘doing.’ This was a great reminder to keep things simple - function over form.

      You are right there. The focus should be on doing the work and the organisation part should support that but not get in the way.

    If my task will be to write a quick email, instead of writing “write email to Carl,” I will actually start writing the email as the name of the task. My task will the be looking someting like “Dear Carl, I just wanted to thank you for the great youtube video and wanted to.” This makes my lazy self easier to pick up and finish the task.

    Took immediate action on the one click process for Collect with the app widget. This will reduce a ton of friction. Great tip.

    Another great video Carl!! A suggested future video might be showing us how you set up your swiping shortcuts and keyboard shortcuts... then we can spend more of our time DOING and less time trying to figure out how to do that :-) Keep up the great job Carl!!

      Ooh, that would be a very long video. The other problem I would have is I use a Mac, and most people still use a Windows PC. I have no idea how to create keyboard shortcuts on Windows :-(

    Thank you for sharing this. Sometimes you need to go back and see if the basics are really working for you. Did you have a video where you take us thru the setup of your 'Swipe to add a task'? I am having trouble finding help for that. I can do that with Apple notes, but I'd like to go directly to Todoist, and save me the review/transcribe time. Did I misunderstand that part?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have Todoist open as a "slide over" on my iPad. So, all I need to do is swipe from the right and it will bring my Todoist inbox over the main screen.
