I can still see my little long blonde haired daughter about 3 yrs old. She was standing in the back seat of my car just a dancing singing this song. ❤ precious memory

Love this song!!! My cousins taught it to me when I was young! They would day don't mess with my toupe , you can have my hairy legs, but don't mess with my toupe😂
This song is a staple down here in South Eastern La like shrimp and grits, gumbo, and jambalaya! It is a reflection of our heritage and our resilience!
I was an Aunt who used to play her this song to my niece all the time when she was little! Today is her birthday she is in her 30's and I am going to post this song on her FB! Love it!
Now this takes me back 😍😍😍 my dad would play this song all the time . Damn I miss the good old days of being young 🥰 heard this song on the old country radio station over 30 years ago, damn I miss being a kid 👦
I'm from SE TX and I'm a Texas born cajun and I was 10 in 1985. Everytime I went with my dad to his KC Hall, my older brother and I would play pool with the other kids of the Knights, and I would always choose this song on the jukebox. This song brings back great memories. (FYI Knights of Columbus is a religious fraternal organization).
I had the great fortune of hearing Rockin Sidney in person. His wife Carol worked with us in Lake Charles, La. Sidney was very generous with his music. What a treat to hear this again.
I have the single 45 record, it's worn but it still plays! I was a kid when he was around! I played it on my Fisher Price record player (still works too). Loved it then and still do! MEMORIES!!!!!!!!! Great post, thanks!!!!!
Had a friend from Louisiana, living in Blaine Wa, bartender at Bob's tavern. This would come on the jukebox during the band's break and he would haul me onto the dance floor. Man could this man jive! Thanks for the memories. 10+*s
While working with a lot of Cajuns in Louisiana, building oil rigs off-shore in the Gulf of Mexico, we were eating breakfast together on a spud barge when this song came on over the radio. It was the very first time any of us had ever heard it, we thought what the hell is this, laughed, and the Cajun cook turned it up; all of us immediately loved this song. I was in France a few months after hearing this song for the first time in Louisiana, and they were also playing this song there!
Was thinking about this song all day yesterday and today! I've been singing it all over da house! I am half Cajun ❤️ then add some Cherokee. I know... made my husband cringe too! Lol Celebrating number 37 in July. Anyway, this takes me back! Thank you
Played this for my classes at San Diego City College this term. One student just blurted out, "My Moma used to sing that to me all the time!" Thank you for the post...it is a joy to hear.
growing up in Lake Chales, La. i used to here this all the time. zydeco is in our blood in southwest louisiana. S/O to all the other creoles. we still here ya heard me.

Don’t mess with my fruit loops , you can have the other cereals but don’t mess with my fruit loops 😂. Sittting in the back of my grandmas car singing this
I've been looking for this song for years. This is really the first zydeco song I liked, before I knew what zydeco was, and the only zydeco song I heard until after college. Now I'm a fan of zydeco/cajun. Cool to see him in an interview, too. Thanks for sharing.
Great song, thanks. The host is Ralph Emery and that is Hoyt Axton on the far left of the couch. Hoyt's mom co-wrote "Heartbreak Hotel" (Elvis hit) and Hoyt wrote "Joy To The World", "The Pusher" and "Snowblind Friend" among many other songs. RIP, Hoyt and Sidney.
I used to watch Ralph Emery's show named Pop Goes the Country many moons ago. I really respected him. He would give a lot of folks TV exposure. I never saw Rockin Sidney, before this clip, no heard his original version of this song. Thanks Kayodleman for the upload. It was a real blast to watch this. I like Zydeco music, it's happy and infectious. I saw Hoyt Axton there, but was that Janie Fricke also on the couch?
