    I really like your videos where you are carrying your daughter. It works wonders for children's sense of security & you are playing a part in normalising women carrying their children on them while doing what they like . 🙂

      Aw thank you! I appreciate your comment. I carried her 12 hours a day for 6 weeks while she wore a special harness to address her hip dysplasia - which made her absolutely miserable. I'm happy to report her dysplasia has resolved! So you will also be seeing videos soon without my baby because she is now happy to sleep in the other room. But I completely agree! She's happy and I'm doing what I want to do, so there shouldn't be any issue with wearing our kids :)

    I did it my first year!! I wish people knew how easy it is if you have a strategic plan. Completely solo. I didnt use headway or other companies. I do all of my own credentialing, billing, and have very low overhead costs. I make just about 100% profit and my tax setup for my PLLC is saving me thousands per year.

    Dr Fang, thank you so much for your channel. I find your work absolutely invaluable. I’m starting a new (“broad brush “) practice in a rural town, and it’s time to approach the doctors to introduce myself. Could you please advise me about the process and content of such a meeting? How do I do it?
    Thank you so much in advance!

      How exciting!! I have a video from the OG archives about networking that may help: th-cam.com/video/9DwYSCV6tg4/w-d-xo.html But I suggest you be yourself and interact with them as a peer and a friend. Make a genuine connection from human to human and don't worry too much about "selling" your practice. The natural connection will build trust and they will be more likely to think of you when they need a referral. Best wishes!

    Thank you for your videos! They have been a huge help in starting my own practice! Would love to sell an anger management and depression and anxiety control, group curriculums. How do you develop curriculums and be able to sell them, having them be accepted as therapeutic?

    • @PrivatePracticeSkills
      @PrivatePracticeSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh this is sticky territory! I wouldn't suggest selling curriculums as a replacement for therapy. But you can definitely leverage your expertise as a therapist to help folks. I'm not sure though if your question is asking about how to practically go about creating a curriculum, or if you're asking about something different - feel free to clarify!

      @@PrivatePracticeSkills Thank you! I am asking how to go about writing one and selling, while using them in therapy as well. I love doing psycho-educational groups. I have always used others curriculums, combining several sources, but always wanted to make one comprehensive version. Thank you for the reply!

    What do you mean by products? Like an anxiety workbook and the like?

  • @shannon7207
    @shannon7207 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you were to sell products, what are some limitations? For instance, if I wanted to create a workbook for a niche such as parenting skills, would it have to be a separate business (I.e., can’t display on practice website)? Also, would I need to list my credentials on materials even if it was a separate business or keep it off? Should I include disclaimers (ie not a therapy replacement; not required for existing clients)? Could I be sold on Amazon?

    Do you have any advice on how to find clients who are able to pay $125? I'm an LCSW, only doing telehealth, licensed in NY and FL. I'm on psychology today and a few other places but I haven't had many people looking to pay put of pocket more thank $100. Thanks!

      @PrivatePracticeSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Niching down usually helps! If you can hone in on your expertise, then folks looking for a therapist who does exactly that (aka YOU) will be far more willing to pay more knowing you're the best person to help them. I hope this helps!

    Can we start our private clinic without experience?

    • @PrivatePracticeSkills
      @PrivatePracticeSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Make sure you check with your state jurisdiction guidelines. Generally, you have to at least be in training as a counselor, and some states may require that you're licensed in order to be in private practice. However, I hear many folks express concern that they're not experienced even if they're fully licensed, and this simply isn't true! Be sure to have a solid consultation group in place and a network of therapists you can refer out to if a client isn't the right fit. I hope this helps!

    Can your earning potential be affected by what school you choose to go to? In my case, afford to go to? 🤣😭 I wanted to attend Santa Clara University but it’s super expensive, and San José State seems to have the same opportunity to get my LMFT/LPCC dual license I wanted from Santa Clara’s program. Does being successful in private practice become affected by where you go? 😭

    • @PrivatePracticeSkills
      @PrivatePracticeSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not at all! You can charge what you choose in private practice - your schooling has almost nothing to do with it. Also I live in San Jose and I know therapists who have been to both grad programs, and they're all great people. :) Best wishes, whatever you decide!

    Let’s do 7 figures 🤔

    • @amirhosseinhosseinzadeh7627
      @amirhosseinhosseinzadeh7627 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can only do that being the top 0.1 percent of therapist and then you can charge 500 dollars per session and also see 40 clients per week then you will be earning like 20k a week which makes nearly 7 figures (well if you don't take any vacations)

    Good tips but you can’t just sell anything. Our ethics have clear boundaries for this. I’m surprised this made the list without more clarification. Please don’t be a therapist selling like Luluroe products to your clients.

    • @morrrca
      @morrrca 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      She doesn't mean an in-practice MLM. The things she mentioned all sounded like materials for other therapists. Maybe some optional "self-help" type books. She also never said she was selling to clients at all.

    • @PrivatePracticeSkills
      @PrivatePracticeSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for clarifying! I completely agree, we should not be selling to our therapy clients. I have a separate business that I sell to non-clients. As long as it's clear how your businesses are separate, this is very possible!
