Another thing I find very beneficial with the sealing of crossover O-rings, is a light cleaning, with fine scotchbrite both inside the crossover port and in the o-ring groove. Along with a very light coat of silicone grease, it just makes the job of the o-ring a lot easier. I have seen others shove that crossover tube into the port while twisting it and ramming it and if you pull that sucker back out, it invariably has scored up the surface of the o-ring. My moto…keep it smooth and lubed. That’s what she said. 😉

I do exactly as you describe on every carb rack where I address the fuel joints/tee's. It's good practice. I use SuperLube silicone grease.

1977 KZ1000s were certainly built in 1976. My 77 was made in July 1976. Very early, low SN. I bought
it new in Feb 77, and rode it home after a snow storm.. Keep up the good work!

Nor will I. My back can’t take it. Customer can test ride it.

I use Seafoam intake cleaner or Mopar Combustion chamber cleaner on the dried gas to dissolve it. Works really well. Carb cleaners barely work. I had to buy 2 fuel tees for my KZ project and dealer got me for a hundred bucks!

Wait until video #2 on these bikes, for more fuel tee drama on the Mikuni's. I think I'm just going to start making all my own stuff, the quality of materials out there is getting depressing. Cheers.

Worked on a voyager a few years ago. Carbs are not fun to remove. But it was a nice riding recliner.

@@MotoRestoFL That KZ1000, walk in the park. But carbs are not as bad as the fuel pump on the KAW.

They say that with any of those words like rusty, easy, busy etc, you can -y + ier to make the comparative. So, correct young man, rustier! 😊

The kz1000 is simply a very early build bike & that’s it.

Well, it’s different in small details than the ‘77 later and ‘78’s because it has KZ900 parts. That’s something.

Any bike made after May is for the following year. So August of 76 would be a 77 model.

      Yes I know it’s a ‘77, I just hadn’t seen one made in ‘76.
